This is our second stay with Mrs Lee at her beautiful home and we loved it just as much as our first visit. One of the first things she asked when we made our reservation is if we had any allergies. I'm allergic to eggs and she made sure that I had a wonderful southern breakfast just as my husband did. We enjoyed having breakfast with her and hearing all about her home and her adventures. Our room was very beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. We look forward to a return visit in the future and we will be staying at Hughes House.
We absolutely love staying here. Mrs. Lee is the best hostess with many interesting stories and items throughout the beautiful house. The breakfast is tasty and relaxing. Everything about the place screams comfort and culture. The house is pleasing, the rooms spacious, and the location is superb.
Why stay in a hotel when you can have a perfect room with bathroom, in a great old home well maintained and have Ms. Lee make you breakfast for about the same costs? Each stay has been great! We walk the few blocks to town and the food is out of this world, no need to drive. It is less than an hour from New Orleans. We drove in several times for lunch or to see the sights and returned to Hughes House. Perfect jumping off point for Mississippi. You will not be disappointed.
My wife and I were going on a cruise out of NOLA and we wanted to be close to the ship the day before, but we chose Mardi Gras weekend and hotels were crazy expensive, so I found Hughes House as an alternative. We came in from the wrong direction and the area looked a little sketchy, but we had no issues once we arrived at the home. They area continued to improve as we went toward the town square for dinner, which is only a few blocks away. Lots of local restaurants to choose from there. Lee was delightful and met us at the door with her little dog. After showing us around, we sat down for a chat over strawberries and coffee. Our room (there are two) was upstairs and rather large. It had a nice bed, sitting area, TV, and bathroom. WiFi was available. We had to leave early, so we didn't get to enjoy a breakfast, but a quick bowl of fruit and coffee was provided and we were on our way. I'd definitely stay again.…
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Hughes House last weekend. It is a beautiful property with really interesting furnishings - yet still very homey. It has a very convenient location -- in immediate walking proximity to most of Hammond's best restaurants. The owner, Lee, and her daughter are extremely charming, hospitable and fun. And each day's breakfast was delicious. I found about this B&B on Trip Advisor, and sure glad I did. It was a lot more fun than staying in a hotel. We look forward to returning again soon!
