Anantara is very close to Male airport, so no need to worry about the seaplane and it's operating hours. The place is amazing and you have access to plenty restaurants on three different islands. If you have kids, there are many activities for them throughout the day. We have spent two holidays there and we were very happy.

Dear eugen_caragui, Thank you for choosing Anantara Dhigu to host your stay in Maldives. We are glad to learn we impressed you with the natural beauty of the resort as well as the hospitality extended by the team during your stay. This was 23rd country we visited and undoubtably the best vacation so far since it was not agenda driven. Anantara Dhigu made our stay extremely satisfied with 360 degree hospitality. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids and stayed in both beach villa and over-water villa. The staff at Anantara takes their job very seriously which includes the airport transfers, room boy, receptionist, guest services, waiters, buggy service boys, Chef....! They know your name, your preferences, your taste, and make all the efforts to ensure your stay is beyond expectations. We liked the location as it is just 30 mins transfer on a speedboat. The lagoons are widespread and you can literally cross the islands on foot during a low tide. You can spot sharks, sting rays, fishes, turtles from overwater villa during high-tides. Kids loved beach villa as they could run into the beach anytime of the day. But an experience of overwater villa is a must. I suggest to split it 3:1 or 3:2. Food is extremely tasty with Asian, Italian, Thai, Arabic, Indian cuisines. The check can also make dishes/drinks of your choice with 1-2 hours notice. We are vegetarian and still had a lot of choices in all the restaurants. There is plenty to do on the resort. The infinity pool is awesome and they also provide family bikes. You can do water sports....life jackets in the room and snorkelling gears are complimentary. They could not offer us late check-out due to high demand, but organised a complimentary guided tour in Male. Overall, we had a real 5 star experience and were taken care with utmost hospitality including room cleaning twice a day. I strongly recommend Anantara resorts even in my dreams. It might cost you a bit more, but the hospitality and memories will be worth the penny spent.

The stay at Anantara over water villa for 3 adults and one child, was the best experience of my life and I am looking forward to going again. The food was ok since it was a bit bland, but the Greek salad was to die for, it had creamy feta, tomatoes cucumbers and more, and the main breakfast area was AMAZING, in the breakfast area, they had all different varieties of food such as fresh sashimi, pizza, juice bar, juice shots, pastries, and soooo much more. There were many activities such as swimming with sharks, manta rays, whale sharks, and turtles. You could also go canoeing, paddle boarding, and surfing. The public pool was always so active and crowded which wasn't the best. There was also this other island that you could swim to and there was a bar, and just a lot of chill spaces. OVERALL EXPERIENCE 10/10.

Wonderful calm place to stay, unbelievable choice of meals, nice beach. All the staff is really kind and ready to help anytime. The only small disadvantage is (depending on your preferences) is that there are just 2 quite small coral reefs directly around the island which is due to location of the island. Anyway you can be transported free of charge to the small island nearby.

Dear jaroslavzelinka, Thank you for choosing Anantara Dhigu to host your stay in Maldives. Dhigu indeed is a wonderful and calm place to stay surrounded by crystal clear water which makes the beach amazing not only for swimming purposes but the serene view of it also gives you that calm feeling. At Dhigu, we have an initiative to look after the marine environment, with this our Inhouse Marine Biologist plant corals and tend them on a daily basis, monitor their growth and move them to the reef as a home to marine animals. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Regards, Ahmed Imthiyaz Resort Manager

Fourth visit to Maldives, and due to our plan for better flight arrangements and all, we decided to pick a location that’s within speedboat distance from Male, and we picked Anantara Dhigu. There are some extreme reviews for Dhigu so here I will give my honest opinion. And it’s going to be a long one. We waited at the Anantara lounge / room for a bit to fill in some forms for the hotel, it didn’t take long. I also did the hotel’s online check in prior to our arrival at Maldives. It was a 30min speedboat ride from Male to the island and as soon as we arrived at the arrival jetty, we were welcomed by a number of staffs led by Ms. Petra - assistant front office manager, offering us a fresh coconut each to freshen up, and our butler, Ismail, came introducing himself. The “check in” only took seconds to complete which is great! We booked a sunrise over water villa (without pool) and upon check in, we got a little upgrade to the sunset over water villa. The room is spacious enough. Our deck connects to both our main room and bathroom, which is nice. Bathroom is very spacious however I think the toilet bowl needs replacing as it looks a bit old and the seat was a tiny bit wobbly. The bathroom has a direct view facing the ocean, however, I’d suggest you pull the electric blinds down during the day if you are gonna take a number 2 or shower, because people can walk by outside of your villa along the sandbank especially when it’s low tide. We have exactly experienced such awkward moment when my boyfriend and I were taking a dip one afternoon outside our villa and as we were walking back to our deck (very low tide at the time) and we can see straight inside the bathroom of our next door neighbour and they didn’t have the blind down…… oopsie we had to pretend to look elsewhere so they wouldn’t feel so embarrassed and have the time to call for family’s assistance to help pull the blinds down haha Restaurants ~ we didn’t have a problem booking our meals at any restaurants during our 5 day stay. Thanks to Ismail our butler for the efficient service. Please be reminded that we share restaurants with the sister resort Veli. Fushi cafe - our daily buffet breakfast, if you like crispy hash browns, pls don’t miss out on their hash browns cos not many hotels make them crispy like they should be. Haha many people go for the fruits, juices, yoghurt etc they have to offer. Even though I have only focused on my hash browns, noodles, fried rice and bacon - the breakfast buffet selection is decent enough. Aqua - we had lunch there twice, wouldn’t say good. Origami - Japanese for dinner, just ordered from menu and didn’t pick Teppanyaki. Mediocre. But I guess we have extremely good quality Japanese food where we originally from so we shouldn’t have high expectations. Cumin - delicious Indian dinner. Dhoni - tapas bar - didn’t like the food there so much, especially the grouper ceviche - that orange colour tiger milk sauce they put in just totally not match with entire dish - of course I know it’s not really tiger milk but the taste of it puts me off this particular dish here at this restaurant. Sea.Fire.Salt - since it was under renovation during our stay, they were serving their menu for Fushi Cafe for lunch. Food was also very mediocre. Baan Huraa - we managed to catch their Thai market evening, which is a Thai buffet dinner. Not a huge variety but the quality of food is good. Dinner by Design - our private dining experience for my birthday. Thank you our butler Ismail for the arrangement, it was perfect. Sometimes it’s not so much about Michelin grade food, but it’s about the setting and environment and what you are celebrating at the time. In room dining - we had it two times, both decent. We ordered via their app and can chat with a member of staff and they respond within minutes. So we have almost tried every restaurant. We sadly didn’t have time for buffet dinner at Fushi Cafe but it’s ok I guess. We went on a private boat for snorkelling with nurse sharks and rays. It was a memorable experience. Be sure to join this activity whether private or with the group. We joined 9 others for the snorkelling with dolphins trip one morning. We saw dolphins swimming while on boat but we didn’t get to swim with any that day. Well, no guarantee I guess. One of our engines on our boat broke down so it took them sometime to try fix it in the middle of the ocean but that didn’t succeed. What a bummer. So we went on with one engine to another location for some snorkelling near the reefs before heading back to the resort. We got given a 15% discount on the tour. We didn’t get to see much exciting marine lives near our villa when we went out but it’s still clear blue ocean! I wonder if it’s the time we went or if it’s the location of this resort, it is pretty windy for my standard - and I remember seeing another review saying the same thing. Nail service at the Spa - I wanted to remove and apply new gel nails so I made an appointment. The lady doing my nail was a sweet girl from Indonesia, however, she lacks skills, and the resort definitely needs to upgrade their gel colour selections and accessories. They only have one brand to choose from and that’s a brand i used to like but not so anymore. I had trouble choosing the colour that I wanted but I picked one anyway. After seeing her removing my old soft gel, I started to regret my booking - she is polite and sweet still, just inexperienced. When she applied the base coat for my nails, I knew immediately the bottle she was using was old and almost dried out and she had no idea! So, I made a decision to do my own gel nails. Yes, I did my own. I’m almost like a professional now after few years of covid and I had to do my own gel nails for a long while. I told her to fetch me a new bottle of base and she watched me closely how to apply. After finishing the whole process, she told me she learnt something and she was also apologetic. Upon leaving the spa, the reception staff asked how I enjoyed my session and I cannot forced myself to say it’s good like I always say to be polite - I told her it’s not so great but I didn’t get into details. I was also given a small discount. Which I didn’t ask for. House keeping - nice and tidy, however, the gentleman doesn’t understand English very well, so when I was trying to explain to him that the pump of the shampoo bottle wasn’t working properly, he thought I asked for a refill. That’s just something minor. Didn’t bother me so much. There was this one time when my boyfriend and I were on the sun deck sunbathing, suddenly our housekeeping gentleman came in - we didn’t hear the bell or anything but he came through and we were a little shocked and he was giving us a yoga mat which he thought we asked for. We were left clueless. Between Dhigu and its sister’s resort Veli, you travel back and forth via pontoon. It’s a short journey and it doesn’t take long to wait for one. so I gave 4 out of 5 because I think the resort is nice, but not quite the 5 out of 5 I would give. Needs upgrading I think. And the people need to stop dropping things into the ocean from villa - I saw a piece of printed A4, I saw an empty plastic bottle, I saw cigarettes butts etc come on guys! I don’t care if you just throw things here and there where you live in (but let’s control ourselves) just don’t ruin a paradise destination like this. Oh and one important thing, choose your villa well. I would personally avoid beach villas like number 45-49 as you maybe seeing the pontoon going back and forth Veli often.

Overwater villa is indeed a perfect choice when staying in the Maldives, the view of the sunset is amazingly beautiful combined with the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean. We are glad you've experienced all our dining offering and had a wonderful experience to each outlets including Dining by Design, indeed, apart from the physical aspects of the resort, it is the people who truly creates a difference in making the experience even better. Indeed, Dhigu guests can visit our sister property Veli to experience our outlets in there and it is few minutes away via pontoon. We are sorry that your boat had a trouble while on the way for the snorkeling with dolphins, please accept our sincerest apologies, there are days that unexpected things happened. It is unfortunate, that your spa experience is not up to par, rest assured that the concerned head of department was alerted regarding the same to ensure proper action plan will be done to avoid the same issue in the future. Please accept our sincerest apologies regarding your housekeeping experience, it is not their intention to bring confusion with your request, rest assured that the same was raised with the relevant department head as well to ensure the same will be dealt accordingly.
