My daughter and I had a fantastic trip in mid June .
Excellent fishing, superb staff, comfortable lodge and beautiful surroundings.
Special diet? No problem.
We had a blast fishing with Rob, several large salmon, and king cod caught daily.
My compliments to Valerie!

This was my first time at QCS, but will not be my last. I've fished Alaska a few times, and while I've had some success, it doesn't compare with the the offerings at Queen Charlotte Safaris. Not only is the fishing outstanding and with more liberal take limits, you can't beat the wonderful hospitality Valerie and her entire staff provides. Her fishing guides are very knowledgeable and helpful at providing a great fishing experience. The lodge staff is equally talented at seeing that you get the best when it come to food and beverage along with a very clean and comfortable lodging experience.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 prevent a return in 2020. but I look forward to returning in 2021 and years afterwards.
Thanks QCS for making my dreams a reality...

My husband and I just made our 4th trip to Queen Charlotte Safaris. This destination is a must for the avid fisherman and fisherwoman. Valerie and her staff make it their mission to ensure each guest feels like part of the family. The attention to detail is great. The lodge accommodations offer a frontage view of the ocean with private en-suite rooms for each guest. Each morning, chef prepares a wonderful breakfast with many choices…lunches are ordered by each guest and delivered to the boats for their enjoyment while on the water fishing. The boats are all jet boats which allow for an early morning start through the passage no matter what time the tide arrives. . Each and every guide is friendly, knowledgeable and focuses on providing a positive experience for their guests. We fished this trip with Codi and had a great time. She put us on huge coho and silver salmon, big Ling cods and the bottom fishing was non-stop. We had to force ourselves to leave the bottom and fish for the salmon. The fishing is second to none! You won’t b disappointed if you book this lodge. We’ve fished all over the world, and will continue to return to QCS.

From beginning to end nothing was right. Our flight to the island was canceled, Valerie made no real attempt to get alternate travel that we found out later was available because 6 of the group got another plane and got there that night.
Next we discovered all the pictures show 30ft red boats, there were only 2 30 foot that she put 3guys on each. We were paired with another couple on a22ft boat. Only 2 fished at a time and one of the other couple had never caught a fish before. The whole boat shares the whole catch so you really don’t get your fish and the fish is processed off site and special requests seemed difficult.
The room was minimalist, one double one single sink very small shower and toilet.
There was a scheduled power outage one day so we had no lights when we got up and no showers. They did get a generator so there was coffee and food for breakfast.
This was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime and it was one disappointed after another.
Valerie is a great sales man, check and get everything in writing especially the boat and related information before you book

Dear Jim C, My team and I are sorry that your trip was disappointing. All of us at Queen Charlotte Safaris take customer service very seriously. The Air Canada mechanical breakdown stranded 24 guests that were here at the lodge as well as leaving you and 21 other guests without air travel to Sandspit. Elan Travel and I did try every reasonable alternative to get our guests out of Sandspit and our new guests in that same day. Once we knew we could not get a plane to accommodate our guests in and out of Sandspit that day we shifted to ensuring all the guests in Vancouver had a hotel room for that evening and were booked to get on the Air Canada flight the next day if possible. We also had ensure that all the guests at the lodge were booked on the next day flight to Vancouver then onto their home destinations. We had a lot of phone calls and ticket changes to take care of. The 6 guests you mention found their own private charter out of Bellingham, Washington on their own accord and at their own expense. The pictures in our marketing of the "red boats" are 25' Custom Thunderjet Pilot Houses. We don't usually advertise the length of our boats because the other cabin comforts are more important to the average guest. We do have a 3025 Kingfisher we will use when the tides allow and that boat never appears in the marketing. Prior to your arrival I did have you paired up to fish with a very nice couple. During orientation you sat by another couple. All of you all of you seemed to enjoy talking with each other. I asked if the 4 of you would like to fish together. The 4 of you said yes. I made the change. Yes, one of the guests had never fished before. Now she is hooked on fishing. Awesome! The guests that fished three to a boat paid for 4 people in the boat, however 2 of the guests were unable to make the trip last minute. So as the spots were paid for putting a 4th person on their boat would not have been inappropriate. In addition these guests were returning guests who asked for a particular team member to be their fishing guide. We are fortunate to have a certified sportfishing processing plant in Sandspit. Most fish processing requests are easily handled due to the proximity and close relationship we have with processors. We do give guests the choice in how their catch is processed and boxed as long as it meets the DFO requirements. During orientation I explain how your fish is processed, choices of boxing your fish, and the benefits of each boat boxing fish together and dividing evenly. It is each guests choice. Yes, BC Hydro had a scheduled power outage for half of the Islands. During orientation and the evening prior to the outage I did inform guests there was a planned outage from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM on June 19. My entire team did their best to accommodate all guests of this inconvenience. We had a generator on site for necessities, like coffee, and breakfast, there was not enough power from the generator to cover the entire lodge. The outage was much shorter than anticipated and we had full power back on well before the boats returned. No guest is merely a sales number or dollar sign to me or my team. We care. We understand starting your trip with a cancelled flight is frustrating. Once all of you arrived to Sandspit our goal was to give you a wonderful experience. My team and I did not know you were unhappy. Given the opportunity to have a conversation with you while you were at the lodge, we would have worked this out.

This was my first visit to Canada and QCS made it an amazing one. The fishing was great and our guide was extremely helpful and fun to spend time with. There was a lot to catch and he made sure we had every opportunity to get the fish we wanted. The lodge staff were also very nice and accommodating. The service was great and the food was always very good. The entire staff at QCS we’re great to be around and I would definitely recommend their charter to those looking to catch some great fish!

I have been going to Queen Charlotte Safaris since 2006 and it has always been an amazing, memorable experience. The fishing is great, the accomodations excellent, and the food and staff are terrific. Valerie has also helped to coordinate other adventures for us such as kayaking and tours of the islands. I have taken my family there starting when my children were 11 and 9 and they fished and had a great time as well.

I recently had the displeasure of booking a trip with Queen Charlotte Safaris, and I can confidently say it was a major disappointment. Our guide crashed into a rock with a new lodge boat everyone on the boat hit the floor. The entire experience was marred by incompetence, negligence, and a shocking lack of professionalism. Valerie is a kind lady yet at the end of the day just well versed with sales
First and foremost, let's talk about the guides. It was abundantly clear that they had little to no experience, especially the so-called "rookie guides" who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the guests. Their lack of knowledge about the area and wildlife made the entire tour feel like a poorly organized school field trip. Our guide seemed to have zero clue how to drive a boat in heavy weather he hit a few waves and really tweaked my back.
Our Guide Rob crashed a brand new lodge boat on a rock at a very dangerous narrow inlet we travel through. He was checking his phone (as this is where you gain back cellular service) completely unprofessional and putting guests in danger. We will not be returning and suggest people find a more professional lodge with guides that actually have experience there are a lot of options in BC

Valerie, the lodge staff, chef and lodge get a 5 star plus. However, we were very unhappy with our guide. We were always the first to come in from fishing, did not even come close to maximizing our catch other than for the Kings (one halibut and one lingcod total from our group of 4) while all the other boats maximized their catch and the last day, we came in at 1:30 while the rest of the boats were out fishing until 4:30 or 5:00. Sure it was rough waters but none of us were bothered by that. We are avid fishermen and this was the first time we have been disappointed in a guide.

We went to Queen Charlotte August 2023. This was our second time with this group. I have nothing but high praise for the entire operation. The travel arrangements were seamless. Our comfort was first on the minds of the staff at the lodge. Each staff member worked tirelessly to ensure that our experience was the best at all times. Our guide Chris was caring and professional. Unfortunately, I got sick on the first day, but Chris was compassionate didn't make me feel uncomfortable, quite the opposite. Because of his caring I was able to power through and enjoyed day 2 and three. The lodge staff went out of their way to be professional and friendly. John the chef made outstanding meals. I would highly recommend Queen Charolotte. Congratulations to Valerie and her attention to detail, it truly showed.

The people working at all levels are wonderful. New, top quality weather gear provided along with the best fishing equipment on the boats. Kenli is a great guide and we will insist on having him again.
Valerie is absolutely the best.
Great area with clean air where allergies disappear.
Beautiful place with wonderful people providing a great experience.
Best lodge I’ve stayed at so far to include Alaska and Canada.
