Have stayed here several times, including with extended family, for New Years, etc. Great owner, great old house, friendly guests from around the world. Easy to find, convenient to the local activities.
This 19th century creole/Cajun house was the 1st hotel in Breaux Bridge and Mary Lynn, the proprietor, is doing everything possible to keep the tradition of hospitality alive. Charming, clean, cluttered with lots of antiques, terrific coffee and cookies (and fig bread), quiet with ample bird calls, nestled up to Bayou Teche with a gracious yard. Easy walk to town center and terrific bars & restaurants. The host, Bob was a wonderful source for Cajun & Zydeco music venues, and local foodie places. Stay here, you won't regret it.
Staying here is like spending the night in a vintage home merged with an antique museum. The rooms are cute and relaxing. The setting is lovely and within walking distance of Beaux Bridge's historic main street and good food/drink. The Bed part is excellent, but Breakfast, other than the excellent coffee, is mostly package carbo-loaded junk food and fresh fruit. Nothing hot. No eggs, not even hard boiled. Too bad as a good Southern breakfast would make this a 5* place.
We went into this house and we felt as we were in a museum. Really amazing. Beautiful old rooms. For this "bed" we would give 5 points. Breakfast was minimal and host was not directly hosting because not living in that house but available by phone or regularly visiting by car. Because usually we love to have a more direct contact to our host to talk whilst having breakfast and get to know and learn more about culture we would give for this "breakfast" one point. So 3 points in total. Other guest may judge on other priorities. Payment possible only by cash.
Wonderful, homey rooms and a rambling house of Cajun crafts and mementos. Right on the Bayou Teche with great access for kayak or canoe on property and a short walk into town. Mary Linn is a great host and a source of information and advice on the area.
