Having read a lot of the recent negative reviews of the Holiday Inn Express, I honestly wondered if I was staying in a different hotel. Maybe the external impression puts people off, it's not the best. No, it was the same place but honestly it offers far more than the unfair criticisms. We were in room 320, a spacious suite and immaculately clean. Our king bed was so comfortable, with good quality bedding to go with it. All the staff I encountered were lovely, and went out of their way to make our stay as good as possible. Breakfasts, despite being the standard fare are excellent, and in a nice dining area on the ground floor. Parking is free too, so ignore those comments on TA about valet parking and extortionate rates, they are not true. The location is close to many bars and restaurants, beginning just across the street so no need to walk miles or pay for taxis. Seriously, if potential guests are trying to work out where to stay in downtown Baton Rouge, give this HiEx a go, it is comfortable, clean and great value for money.

After staying at this location multiple times I am sad to write it has gone down hill fast. Firstly, the owners do not want to pay for Valet Parking, which guest paid for, so they have removed it. If you don’t call the hotel in advance you will find yourself driving around trying to find street parking. Secondly, the rooms are not being cleaned. Attached are pictures of a dirty rag left in one room. Once I was moved rooms then I saw the toilet and shower hadn’t been clean. It is clear they are cutting corners in the name of cutting cost.

I stay at Holiday Inns consistently for work and this was the first one I've had issues with. First off, great location. Quick walk to the river and everything you need is close by. Can't complain there. But the shower in my room was DISGUSTING. The floor is scratched to hell and stained red. I think it's rust? But it feels like a plastic tub, so I don't want to think what the alternative is. But I had to wear water shoes in the shower. When I asked if all are like that I was told "yeah they're pretty old" There was never anyone at the front desk. When I arrived I waited about 10 minutes for someone to come downstairs to check in. Went down later to ask about the shower and it took about 3 trips to the desk before I could find anyone. I had to check out early for an early flight and it's the first holiday Inn I haven't gotten my bill under the door overnight, which is fine. But nobody was at the desk to check out. The email account on their website is apparently unmonitored as I can't get a response there, so it's nearly a week later and I'm struggling to get a receipt. Best advice I can give is avoid.

Absolute perfect location for the BR Blues Festival! It was only 2 blocks to the venue. Very decent breakfast in the morning. Clean, quiet, and had the best ADA equipped room we've ever gotten in our many years of traveling. Excellent restaurants were an easy walking distance from the hotel. The staff were very friendly and we were happy with the security there. It is street parking (with a few spaces available behind the building) but we had no problem with this and was happy to save the $$ on parking fees. It allowed us to spend more at the Festival! Will return next year!!!

Great location, and front desk staff very friendly but do not trust the free shuttle because when I requested via e-mail a week in advance nobody answer to me. Then I called the day for a pick up and they told me they do not have shuttle. But when I arrived the van was there parked at the hotel. The guy at the reception apologized but the damage was already done. Apart from that the room is confortable and the breakfast is full of sweet pastries but no much of healthy options. This is the second time I am been disappointed with this brand.
