Parents of students recommended this place to me and I can see why. Clean, great staff, comfy beds, nice breakfast and fitness center with pool. Get a guest pass at the LSU fitness center for ten bucks it’s amazing! A cleaning lady was carefully cleaning the bathroom all morning. Front desk check in was delightful. Great vibe and right on campus.

Stayed at this hotel this past weekend with several family members in several rooms for a wedding. I booked one king and one double. Both rooms were upgraded to suites which was very nice. We found the hotel really clean both in the rooms and public spaces. The rooms had lots of great amenities - especially as they were suites with kitchens, two room baths, separate sleeping and living areas. The bedding and towels were 5/5. Cooling and TV’s were also 5/5. The included breakfast was a full hot egg/grits/sausage/biscuit affair with all the trimmings. Very courteous check in and check out. We will definitely be using this gem again on our next overnight in Baton Rouge.

Stayed June 2022 Pros: -Room very clean -Nice sheets -Bed comfortable -In safe area -Good water pressure and no issue with hot water -Amenities in good condition and furniture is okay quality -Has a mini fridge and microwave which worked well. Cons; -Two lamps one bulb each in entire room. Could use a couple of floor lamps -Room set up for two people but only seating was one desk chair. There is room for another chair. -Front staff continued to make mistakes a) we stayed 2 nights. The clerk said she gave us 4 breakfast tickets but only gave us 3. b) Coded us for staying only one night. Had to get the keys reprogrammed. c) went to get the keys reprogrammed and they did not ask for a name or identification. I could have been anyone…not safe! d) asked for extra towels and a bar of soap (there was none for the shower) received towels and shampoo and conditioner instead of soap. e) went specifically down to front desk for soap. They could not locate any. f) 2 hours later mysteriously delivered extra towels - Bath towels okay thickness but on the small size - Bathroom is small, Two people could not get ready at the same time, -Breakfast food plentiful and lots of options but lacking in healthy options. Scrambled eggs a bit rubbery. -Small trash cans. -Lack of drawers to unpack. Only 3. Would stay again due to very limited number if hotels in this part of Baton Rouge in a safe area with the understanding of what it does and does not have.

Hotel overall was clean and spacious. Rooms clean and comfortable A little dated but comfortable. Thought it lacked energy in the service. Also breakfast was horrible. Went downstairs about 730. Eggs were cold, so were the biscuits. Had a banana and muffin and gave up. Young lady in the buffet lacked attentiveness. Most of my breakfast she was leaning, back against the wall with crossed feet

This was an amazing stay for a wedding in the Conference Center. From my first call to the staff to reserve a room to when we left, I give this place 5 stars. The room was nice and clean and comfortable and the hotel conveniently located for what we needed it for - by LSU Lake. Did I mention the Staff - the front desk, the manager, the folks that made and served breakfast - amazing folks! I travel a great deal for work and this was truly exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful time and experience.

Don’t know how somebody can give this hotel two or three stars. Spotless clean, great breakfast selection (no hot oatmeal, but had hot grits), fridge and microwave in the room, great location, no issues at all! Internet worked very well. Would happily stay here again!

We have tried staying here many times but finally able to secure a reservation. So disappointed. First, it's pretty dated, not bad but needs an overhaul. The front desk checking in were super nice. Quick and easy check in. Had no cable. Was told there was an outage? Phone in the room didn't work as we tried to call housekeeping and the front desk multiple times and it just rang busy. Tried for hours. I actually called the main outside direct number and it rang busy as well. Had cable for a short while one morning but no cable the rest of the visit. Restaurant had cable so it must have been a room issue. The outlets on each side of the bed side table didn't work. Had to unplug the lamp to use an outlet. I did walk down to the check in to inquire about the cable and phones but the lady said she had no idea why it didn't work. Nothing else. Not "hey let me look into that for you" or anything. For what we paid for 2 nights it was really not worth it. Location was great for our needs but won't stay here again. Emailed the hotel directly and filled out the survey with the same comments above and heard nothing. Better options available in town.

Response from John Grubb, General Manager at The Cook Hotel and Conference Center at LSU
Responded Oct 29, 2021
Let me first apologize for your experience at the Hotel. It is not indicative of our service, nor that of any hotel in Baton Rouge The Cox network suffered a catastrophic outage, hitting homes and businesses ranging from Texas to Georgia taking out cable and telephones across the region. This a system-wide outage beyond any of our control. I personally spent several hours on my cell phone with Cox Baton Rouge and Cox Corporate Offices in Atlanta trying to get a service technician (and some answers which they still have provided next to nothing as a response). The technician did arrive Monday at 10 am, but also had no additional information as to the cause of the outage. I hope you would consider giving us another chance as it was not a typical experience for our hotel. We pride ourselves on helping our guests enjoy their stay.

So happy we picked this hotel while in Baton Rouge for an LSU campus tour. It was only a 10 minute walk to the campus Geaux Center and we didn't have to deal with parking issues like many of the folks visiting the same day. Room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast had many options (the LSU waffles were a nice touch!), free parking, and very helpful and friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

We stayed at this hotel when dropping off our daughter for camp at LSU. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. But that’s all I can really say about it. When you can stay at the Waterfront for the same rate….I would not and could not recommend staying at The Cook instead of a place downtown.
