We stayed at the Cook Hotel in June 2020. The students were out and COVID 19 was still prevalent. We were visiting our son and thought we'd try a pricier hotel. We had the cheaper 2 bed. The room was small but well decorated but it felt out of date by 4-6 years. The bathroom looked dated. We had problems getting the Wi-Fi to work and my wife had to use her ethernet connection in the end to work which meant she couldn't use the desk. We're not LSU alumni so the decor of replica trophies in the lobby was strange. We were told a cooked breakfast was available but apparently not on Friday when we were given a boxed breakfast. We checked out early on Saturday and apparently the boxed breakfast was no longer available but the cooked one was if we were willing to wait a few hours. Lot of parking and you're on campus. Probably will try another hotel next time.

We typically try to take advantage of “on campus” hotels when we travel. This was the class last week for a stop in Baton Rouge on our way through town. Clean and comfy with a better room rate than most chain hotels (for a bigger and more spacious room). Solid breakfast too given many places are grab and go only. Money and time well spent

So happy we picked this hotel while in Baton Rouge for an LSU campus tour. It was only a 10 minute walk to the campus Geaux Center and we didn't have to deal with parking issues like many of the folks visiting the same day. Room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast had many options (the LSU waffles were a nice touch!), free parking, and very helpful and friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

It’s a great location for anyone visiting LSU but that really is the best thing about this hotel. The room was actually fine except that the kitchen was left dirty - the sink was blocked with old food all over it and heating wasn’t working properly.
If you are booking a stay here, try to avoid booking breakfast because it is just not worth it, it’s definitely slim pickings . You’d be better off just having some granola or toast in your room. Service - not so great either. It’s a real shame because for most visitors this is their first impression of LSU.

Stayed at this hotel this past weekend with several family members in several rooms for a wedding. I booked one king and one double. Both rooms were upgraded to suites which was very nice. We found the hotel really clean both in the rooms and public spaces. The rooms had lots of great amenities - especially as they were suites with kitchens, two room baths, separate sleeping and living areas. The bedding and towels were 5/5. Cooling and TV’s were also 5/5. The included breakfast was a full hot egg/grits/sausage/biscuit affair with all the trimmings.
Very courteous check in and check out. We will definitely be using this gem again on our next overnight in Baton Rouge.

Parents of students recommended this place to me and I can see why. Clean, great staff, comfy beds, nice breakfast and fitness center with pool. Get a guest pass at the LSU fitness center for ten bucks it’s amazing! A cleaning lady was carefully cleaning the bathroom all morning. Front desk check in was delightful. Great vibe and right on campus.

Cook Hotel is slightly dated in decor but still quite nice. Perfect location for LSU visits or sporting events. Parking is easy. Fitness buffs should know that for $10 you can visit the AMAZING fitness center on campus with indoor lap pool, indoor large track, climbing wall, basketball, soccer, pickle ball courts, every fitness machine you can imagine. Breakfast is free and is good. Good coffee. Full kitchen.

I wanted to love this place. It’s very clean and the staff is very friendly, however the price point per night of this hotel makes it a luxury hotel. It is not a luxury hotel. If you read previous reviews you will see a mention of hot water issues. We had the same issues in our room. The hot water never got hot enough for more than a lukewarm shower. The air conditioning does not work right. We put the thermostats as low as 55 just to get the room to 70 degrees, which might have been comfortable if it wasn’t 100 degrees in the middle of summer in Louisiana. So overall we were a little disappointed in this hotel. While we loved the cleanliness & the staff, I’m not so sure it’s worth giving up earning loyalty points at the chain hotels.

This was our 3rd visit to the Cook Hotel and stayed 1 night. Check in and breakfast staff were friendly. Room was clean, bathroom was too aside from the random contact suck to the bathroom door handle. The bathroom, while clean, the tub faucet is in need of repair. Water was leaking up against the wall and out of the handles when I started the shower. Later it shot off the tub when my husband turned the water on. Breakfast was ok since it was free. While relaxing in our room around 9:45-10:00 am our door was knocked on and simultaneously opened. No housekeeping announcement. Thankfully my son had flipped the lock at the top of the door. Since nobody made an announcement I thought there was a key malfunction or I dropped my card in the holder with the room number written on it. Looked in the hallway and the housekeeper was down the hall. She did not acknowledge me or apologize when I came out to investigate what happened.

Hotel overall was clean and spacious. Rooms clean and comfortable A little dated but comfortable. Thought it lacked energy in the service. Also breakfast was horrible. Went downstairs about 730. Eggs were cold, so were the biscuits. Had a banana and muffin and gave up.
Young lady in the buffet lacked attentiveness. Most of my breakfast she was leaning, back against the wall with crossed feet

The hotel is turning 17 years old and is located on the campus of Louisiana State University. The parking lots are well lit and security is provided by campus police including patrols daily and nightly.

We do not have a shuttle service but we do recommended Uber or LYFT for transport to and from the hotel.

We do have a guest laundry in the hotel ($1 wash/$1 dry). During our renovation, there may be some days when the laundry is inaccessible during 8am to 6pm hours while the water is off in that area until March 31, but it is limited (not every day) and never over night.
