My husband and I stayed one night while touring Kentucky for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We had arrived earlier than we expected and the hostess was wonderful. She showed us the room, turned on the air conditioning, and gave us the directions to the Shaker Village. Enjoyed the exhibits at the main house in the Village, really nicely done, had... More

Very interesting piece of history. The rooms were cozy. The decor was nice. The breakfast was delicious. I was very nice to sit down at breakfast with another couple that stayed in the tavern and chat. The train only went by once, and we rushed out to get a picture of it. We were concerned about the mill, but it... More

This inn is a must if you are visiting the local Shaker Museum. The Victorian furniture and details are reason alone to visit. The rooms are large with very high ceilings, and a comfortable bed. I left early in the morning so didn't have a chance to experience the breakfast. Be aware that the inn is *right* on the train... More

Comfy Beds Nice Sized Rooms Yummy Breakfast Beautiful Decor Great Location Very Nice Inn Keeper Great Price I loved being close to the tracks. I love trains and so does my son. It could have been a little cleaner, but not bad. Just dusty. We were the only ones there that night. We had fun exploring the whole building.

This house is beautiful. If you are going to the Shaker Museum in South Union, you should stay here--plus you get free museum entry! The rooms were nice--high ceilings! The breakfast was good. Here are the weird/negative points: --It's built on a railroad track. And by that I mean, a few feet away from the RR track. So it could... More

We took my parents here for my mom's 79th birthday weekend. The taverns posesses historic charm inside and out. The caretaker was accomodating and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and had many period antiques throughout. The Shakers had the tavern built to supplement their income. Directly in front of the building lies a railrod track, which I assume during its... More

We stayed at the Shaker Tavern in April during the coldest Easter in living memory and had a wonderful time. This was as part of our tour of the Shaker villages in Kentucky and southern Ohio. It was listed in an English guidebook and, by using the South Union Shaker Village website - and by ringing the property direct -... More
