This was our second trip to the lodge. It's a great place to stay when you're in the Red River Gorge area and you don't feel like camping. We try to visit 'out of season' to avoid the crowds. We were there in late October and it was a beautiful time of year. We would highly recommend the lodge. The... More

The location of the hotel is great! Walk out of the hotel & the trail is right there to covered bridge. It's inexpensive so you will get what your paying for. When you first walk in the room it looks nice. Unfortunitly housekeeping & maintenance is not doing their job very well. There was dirt on the floor by the... More

On my 9 day trip this was my second state park hotel that I stayed at for two nights. This one had a wonderful big window overlooking the trees and a patio. The room was very clean (compared to the first state park resort I stayed at) and no smells. The buffet was very good (again much better than the... More

The price was right and the room was great. Nice patio and screen door so we could leave the door open all night. The patio had privacy screens but noisy neighbors or nearby smokers could be bothersome. Room was clean and air handling worked fine. Nice flat-screen TV and good WiFi. The only downside was the lack of an in-room... More

I recommend making an overnight trip to see the natural bridge. The lodge was built in the 1950s but is very clean. It smells fresh. The rooms are a bit dated, but still very clean. Very decent rates and there's a restaurant on site. You will not have any cell reception, but it's nice to get away from that for... More

My son and I had a two-night stay at this lodge. As soon as we opened the door to our room, we were hit with a very strong and unpleasant odor. I would describe it as the way a nursing home smells. It was really bad. The lobby area was nice enough and we enjoyed our meals at the restaurant,... More

We went to the Hemlock Lodge and our room exceeded our expectations by a lot!! We were thinking just a simple no frills room which it was but they added extras that really made it nice. Our balcony looked out into the trees, which was awesome. We hit as many trails as we could that weekend and they keep them... More

The furnishings are good and not too outdated but the air conditioner blows out damp musty air. The intake vent looks nasty and the bathroom door frame is rusted. The WiFi takes a long time to connect and is very slow. There's no microwave or fridge in the room. Smoking is allowed on the balconies, so we couldn't use ours... More

Fortunately we stopped here and had lunch before embarking on 2/3 hours of hiking the Natural Bridge trails. Although we don't care for fried food, they had a really nice salad bar, many vegetable choices, and 3 types of cobbler desserts. It was only $9, and even less for just soup and salad. The server was very friendly, and gave... More

First of all, if you are looking for up to date amenities, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a place that is air conditioned (a must in the humid summers of Kentucky) you are in luck. Hemlock Lodge is a memory of the past 'motel' feel. Complete with wood paneled walls and pictures... More
