We checked into Peaceful Getaway, which is an adorable 2 bedroom cabin on a pond with a game room that was nicer in person than in the pictures. The master bedroom had a very comfy bed, large TV with DVD player, and antique cabinet with hangers. The upstairs bed was reportedly less comfortable, but due to AC issues we did not use that bed. Both futons were used thanks to the provided sheets, and those were good. The pool table was a huge hit with my crew, and we also enjoyed the hot tub. The owners are right next door and are very nice. They make some DVDs and games available in the cabin. Unfortunately, the AC unit experienced problems while we were there, with temps reaching up to 98 degrees, so we had to switch cabins the second night. With a properly functioning AC, I would love to return to Peaceful Getaway, though kitchen shelves or cabinets would be nice to store groceries and hooks would be nice in the bathroom.

Scenic Cabin rentals scrambled to make sure that another cabin was clean for us to move to at 9pm since we could not sleep in the super hot cabin. Ron's Big House was much larger and had a working AC so we went with it. While it sleeps 12, the beds were not very comfortable, there is only 1 TV (in the living area- none in any of the bedrooms), everything outside the living room was EXTREMELY dated (think 1970's), and there was a mouse in the kitchen. There was a bottle cap in the bathroom floor when we arrived, and neither the fridge nor freezer looked clean inside. The bumper pool table was in poor condition, as well.

My friend and I stayed at the Lazy Days Cabin for the month of April. We found the cabin through Scenic Cabin Rentals located in Slade, KY.

The cabin was fantastic!!! It is centrally located inside of Cliffview Resort. The resort features it's own hiking trails, mountain fishing ponds, and a very scenic overlook. We would walk around the resort after dinner almost every night. The stars are beautiful there.

The cabin was perfect for us and our 2 children. The children stayed in the open loft upstairs and we each had our own bedrooms with a queen size bed. This made monitoring them very easy. We enjoyed the old airplane theme that was throughout the cabin. The children liked learning about the old planes. There is a nice hot tub, firepit, and grill off of the large deck in the back. We spent a lot of time playing games outside and had several fires. They will deliver wood to you! The cabin was very tidy and well kept. The kitchen was stocked with cookware, dishes and utensils we needed to cook and bake. It feels like a lot of love and attention went into this cabin and made us feel like we were at home.
We look forward to coming every year! If you are visiting the area, we highly recommend this cabin-just not in April when we want to stay!

My husband and I stayed in the S'more Fun in the Gorge Cabin with 3 other couples for a small group trip from our church. This cabin did not disappoint. There were private bedrooms for each of us all with a private bathroom. All of the bedrooms were nice so no "fighting" over who got the better room. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the cooking supplies we needed (pots/pans, plates/cups, blender). There was a large table so all 8 of us could sit around the table. We had some time to play the guitar and sing together and we were all able to sit on the deck together with several outdoor chairs available. Only one bedroom did not have its own deck but it was next to the front door with a lovely bench to sit on and enjoy nature. We saw deer walking around each morning. We wanted a place where we could all hang out together and that was possible on the upper and lower decks, in the living room and around the table as well as sitting on the sun porch. The hot tub was nice although the water was not as hot as we would have liked. There was plenty of parking. The directions to the cabin are detailed but lead you right here. Just read them carefully. Wifi worked. The cabin was clean and the staff was very kind for check-in and check-out. Our group wanted something that was not too far from Lexington and this place delivered. We spent time hiking in the Gorge and kayaked in the Gorge Underground. We would love to come back again next year!

We stayed at majestic view. It would have been nice if the cabin wasn't soo dirty. Mouse droppings under the kitchen sink and under the beds upstairs. We personally didn't see any mice. Very thick layer of dust of top of the entertainment center where the TV was. Even thicker layer of dust where the TV set. Looked like dust that had been there for years. The house needs a good dusting and the mouse droppings cleaned up. Lots of black finger prints on the back door near the handle. We are in the mist of a pandemic. Surprised door knobs were not wiped. Question if the sheets were changed on all the beds. Found human hair and dog hair on one of the beds. Was told 4 trash bags would be provided. There was only 1. We had to find a dollar store and buy some. Employee at office said there had been complaints recently. Would have been nice to know this before we rented. One has to wonder why Scenic Cabins would rent this house knowing these problems existed. Our perception was that staying at a cabin would be safer and cleaner during this pandemic. Would not book with Scenic Cabin Rental again! Never had this experience with any cabin rental place before! We took pictures and videos. You can't make this stuff up!

The first night was fine. But the second night things went bad! The kids wanted to hang out in the game room & watch the ball dropl for new years eve but the firestick didn't work in the basement & if we shut the door to the basement there was no heat down there. Then as we were getting ready for bed we pulled out the sofa sleeper only to find BLOODY SHEETS on the bed!! The kids had to sleep on the couch & love seat. I emailed the office & sent pictures, we were refunded the $48 cleaning fee but considering we paid over $400 I don't find that a very good refund for bloody sheets & the basement/game room basically unusable.

Overall, had a very disappointing experience staying in Star Gap Cabin with Scenic Rentals in Red River Gorge. There were sooooo many mice in the walls and running across the floor and counters that we couldn’t sleep or relax. We had to move from the lower bedroom to the loft bedroom because mice were running into our bags and under the bed. A mouse climbed out of the oven control panel right in front of us. On the second night of our stay we found mouse poop on my pillow and from then on we couldn’t sleep fearing the mice were getting into our bags and bed. We decided to move all our bags, which we were already keeping zipped and elevated on the couch into our car because the mice were so active. The next day THE ONE tote I left out, containing my books and personal items, had mouse poop in it. We are now planning to strip down our bags in our front lawn to make sure we’re not bringing home a hitchhiker. Keep in mind, we brought very little food which we kept sealed away in the fridge and microwave, so even without much motivation the mice were running through our stuff.

We realized the rental management knew about the pest issue because of sonic pest devices found around the cabin. However, we called after dropping off our key to explain that we felt renters shouldn’t stay there because of the number of mice in the cabin, giving them the benefit of the doubt that they did not know how many mice were in there during the night. I was very pleasant on the phone and kindly explained the nightmare of the last two days. They simply said: “I mean it’s a cabin in the woods so we’re used to pests, but thanks for letting us know. If you called us during your stay we would have come out with traps.”

Make of that what you will, but I didn’t even attempt to ask for any kind of refund. I recommend staying with another rental group. We actually never met them in person because they called at 4:00pm to say they were closing early when we came to get our key, they normally close at 7:00pm and we got there at 5:00pm to collect our key left for us in an envelope.

Hoping to save you from the mouse hunger games.

First time using cabins in Natural Bridge, we usually go camping. But due to the pandemic camping was not open yet. So we booked a cabin. It was a great view and area to stay. We will definitely return to use their cabins. The only issues we had was the tv kept going out, shower pressure was low, the bed was hard, and the hot tub was in a weird location on the property. But like I said we will definitely come back and use Scenic Cabin Rentals.

Booked Heaven on a Hilltop for 3 nights in January as a fun gathering for grand kids after Christmas. Lets get right to it:
Positives -
Excellent view
Wonderful area behind the cabin to Hike
Great Game Room. Kids had a blast except when the ping pong ball rolled through
the rails and fell 3 floors.
Nice kitchen
Jacuzzi was fun
Great fire pit area
Great appliances

Negatives -
Large table in Kitchen was great but somewhat big for this area. Hard to sit on
ends of table.
Showers did not remain at constant temperature.
Cabin was dirty when arrived on stairs and under couches.
Temperature was hard to maintain. Master suite was cold. You would walk into
the Living Room area and thermostat would be set to 77. Walk to second floor
and read thermometer on wall it would ready 96. I had to crack the window at
night in second floor bedroom so it wouldn't be hotter than Hades!
No real open area besides Living room.
Laundry left in dryer. Needed access to dry swimsuites.

We recently had a weekend stay with another couple at Above the Pines and loved it. This is a new cabin (2021) and is such a great place to stay. The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and was perfect for the 4 of us. The kitchen and living room were very spacious and so pretty with vaulted ceilings and beams, new furniture and nicely decorated. There is a huge deck outside with a hot tub and lovely views of the area. There is a queen bed in 1 of the bedrooms and 2 queen beds in the other one and the beds were comfortable.
The staff is great and the office is located in the Daniel Boone Coffee Shop where you can pick up needed supplies and they also serve food, coffee and drinks there. If you are planning a trip to the gorge, I think you would be very happy with your stay at Above the Pines.

The Scenic Cabin Rental office gave us directions to the wrong cabin for starters. They didn't seem helpful in assisting us in finding our actual cabin. The location of the cabin would've been easy to find if we had the correct directions. We had 9 people in our group, which based off of the description the cabin seemed plenty big. Upon getting there, there was only one communal bathroom, and one bedroom with its own bathroom. It was not ideal. The cabin itself was small and confined. We felt claustrophobic. The downstairs/basement area was sketchy and was not comfortable. The hot tub was on the ground floor which was also not ideal having to walk downstairs to get to it. Overall we've decided we will not be staying here again, let alone in a scenic cabin rental probably.
