Stayed at Brookshire for the Tyler Childers show in Pikeville. Hotel was very clean and accessible. The Nice lady at the front desk said the Brookshire is being rebranded as a Sleep Inn. Either way it was a great location for seeing shows in Pikeville that is 20 miles away. Continental breakfast was well stocked and organized. Would definitely recommend it to others.
Real nice place to stay. A friend and I stayed here and it was great, well worth the money. Everyone should give this hotel a try, well worth it. It used to be a Microtel so if you’re used to them, that’s what to expect as far as room size. Becoming a Quality Inn soon for Wyndham members.
Yes, it is a small room and I would have liked a sitting chair but the room was as clean as a pin, had no obvious maintenance issues, the AC worked well, had a large TV with a lot of channels and they had a good breakfast. Definitely not a suite but worked for me.
We stayed here for one night in September 2018. Our room was furnished as expected, with fridge, microwave, flat screen, a small work-place with a table lamp, that was falling apart, and wifi. So far not much to complain about. The service, however, was in no way what you would expect from a place like this. Nice, they have HBO, at least that is what you think when you find the daily HBO-program on the table. Let’s watch the 8 p.m. movie, that’s a good one. But what channel? No list of channels available. Let’s run them thru, one by one. After 100 channels still no HBO found. Let’s call the front desk and ask. “HBO is on channel 96-2”. “Oh, thank you, but there is no such channel on our TV”. “OK, I’ll check”. We wait – 10 mins, 20 mins – nothing. I walk down to the front desk. The guy there is sitting comfortably watching TV. “What about HBO?” “It works down here”. “And what about my room?” “I don’t know, that’s a different box.” The guy then gets up to check the large downstairs TV at the wall. No stations at all there. “Maybe broken by some storm”. That’s all, no “sorry”, no nothing”. Thank you for this “valuable service”. Next morning we come down for breakfast and look around. Nothing’s there, absolutely nothing, just empty trays and tables. Let’s ask front desk. “Where is the breakfast”. Another guy, obviously as uninterested as the one the night before, replies: “Breakfast only till 9.30.” “But it is only 9.00”. The guy slowly gets up and starts to walk down the hall even slower, obviously angry that he has to do something about the situation. “The girl is new, she put everything away at 9.00. I’ll call her.” No “sorry”, no “please excuse our mistake”. A girl shows up. Says something that sounds like “Do you want a donut?”. “No, we want whatever you usually have for breakfast!” She starts bringing some items, most trays however remain empty. “How about bread?” “I’ll bring you some.” How about butter?” “I’ll bring you some.” How about ketchup?” “I’ll bring you some.” We are getting tired of this, so we don’t go on asking for fruit, yoghurt, waffles and whatever else they usually have. Thank you for this “valuable service”. Customers are not welcome here. They obviously cause too much work! Stay away from this place.…
Stayed here for one night Stayed here to visit birthplace of Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle. After reading the reviews I thought it sounded like a nice place to stay. It was a clean room and hotel, but the breakfast left little to be desired and hardly nothing to choose from. Also could not turn on the shower. No knob to pull up to turn on shower. Also was not impressed with the staff. They are less then friendly. If ever in the area again I would not stay here again.
