We stayed one night and had a room on the second floor. Staff were extremely helpful and our room was lovely and clean. There are several places to eat within walking distance and the wall at the river is covered in fascinating paintings.we happened to be there when a riverboat was docked so walked down and talked with their staff about their boat. I will go back there
My 2nd time to stay in the last 12 months. Both times I had a wonderful stay, friendly staff, rooms are unique and trendy restaurants across the street. Also a block away from the river which is a great walk.
The 1857 is a great place. The staff are so, so friendly and helpful. The bar in the event center is excellent. The bartenders are knowledgeable and fun to chat with. It's a quiet bar with a fantastic, relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is outstanding. The location is perfect. You can do so much downtown without getting in you car. It's a must-stay when in Paducah, but book early!
What a fun place to stay right in the heart of Paducah. Close to good restaurants and interesting things to do. Our room was wonderful! The beds were super comfy and had all the right touches to make you feel at home. The front desk was welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend The 1857 if you are looking for something different than the usual “box store” accommodations.
I apologize for such a brief review, but I was in the 1857 (and Paducah) for last than 12 hours. The staff here are incredibly nice. They called me in advance to check if I was arriving after hours, and the young man at check-in was worried because I arrived later than expected. The Hotel is very attractive, especially the bar. My room was very nice if a bit dark-even with all the lights on. The shower is divine. I don't particularly like the sliding door for the bathroom because it does not provide full privacy. My room was just above Kentucky Avenue, and I feared the street noise would keep me awake. I slept like a baby! The location is wonderful. I walked to the River, the murals, and the Paducah Beer Works. I have one small concern. I don't think the 1857 has an elevator. I had no trouble lugging my suitcase up the stairs, but that will be an obstacle for many travelers. I would love to return.…
What a hidden gem in historic district in Paducah. 2 blocks from the river, several trendy restaurants and bars within 3 block radius. This 2 story converted brick warehouse is small and intimate. The rooms had exposed brick and industrial components. Has a great bar inside with lounge seating. The owner Judy and Michelle at the desk are 2 of the most friendly people you will meet. We will stay there every time we come to the Paducah area. Oh by the way, they are pet friendly and very reasonably priced.
Wonderful place to stay! All rooms are unique, comfy and clean! We were on 1st floor and used the sound machine, but had no issues with noise and I am a light sleeper. Love the ambiance and decor of the hotel. Great bar and event area. You can also purchase art displayed in the hallway! Convenient parking and you can eat, drink and shop until your heart is content! And do all of it just by walking! Great location, price and amazingly friendly, helpful staff! I highly recommend this hotel and will be going back for sure!
The room was mostly clean but it was getting pretty well beat up. The carpet was stained and frayed. Didn't inspire confidences in how sanitary the facility might be. The bed wasnt very good. It definitely needed to have the mattress replaced.
Fair warning: this is NOT a cookie-cutter hotel chain room. The rooms have been converted from an old building. For me, I enjoy that and think the 1857 has loads of character with the exposed brick walls and industrial decor. I really enjoy these unique boutique hotels, but not everybody does. The furniture and fixings are all modern (comfy bed, wi-fi, arm chairs, big screen TV), but it is an old building. That means that the brick walls might be a bit drafty and cool. The windows let in more of the street noise. The room is a bit dark due to a lack of overhead lighting. That is just part of the experience in staying in an old building. If this isn't your thing, book a different hotel; if it is, you'll enjoy your stay too. I'd definitely stay here again.
We were traveling through and stopped to see the quilt museum. So we booked 1 night at the 1857 Tribeca Condo. We reserved the 2nd floor with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. When we checked in we were told that there was a couple staying on the 3rd floor and they would be coming through "our" kitchen to access the 3rd floor. Huh??! I had assumed that the 3rd floor would have a separate entrance or some way to separate the 2 floors. But no, they came in the same door we did and down the hallway, past the bedrooms and bathroom, and through the kitchen to get to the 3rd floor stairs. The 2 bedroom doors were lockable, but the rest of "our" space was basically "public". Fortunately, we met the other couple when they were passing through, and they were lovely. So we did feel better about it, but still! This was quite awkward, and lack of privacy should have been explained on the website. The space itself was old, but not too bad, the bed/pillows were comfortable, the location was excellent. However, I would not rent this space again.…
