We were blessed to stay at Scottwood B&B just after the reopening from COVID-19 shutdown. Guidelines for safety were being followed well. Annette and Tim are very gracious hosts. Annette goes out of her way to accommodate breakfast requests and her breakfasts are delicious! The English garden setting is secluded and charming. The carriage house was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. We would definitely come back.

A few weeks ago we were on the hunt for bourbons. We selected the Scottswood Inn for its location minimizing our drive times to various cities/distilleries. Four minutes from downtown Midway, it seemed perfect. We found that the innkeepers, Annette and Tim, were very accommodating. They are the best hosts we have encountered. For most of the mornings we got up early and they had a fantastic breakfast planned. Several mornings the joined us for breakfast inthe dining room. They were very engaging and we found their histories very interesting. This made our stay of five days more personal. We found the town of Midway fascinating. Good food and very casual. One of our most memorable trips.

Recently returned from celebrating our anniversary at Scottwood Inn. Tim and Annette are blessed with the gift of hospitality. They are born to accommodate guests in an historic property in the most beautiful area in the world. They exceeded our expectations for gracious service and we left with new friends. Our stay could not have been better.

The hosts, Annette and Tim, are gracious and welcoming and have a beautiful B and B. We stayed in The Williamsburg, a beautiful room that was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, specially with the addition of the Scottwood Cream that we added to the delicious fresh fruit. The frittata and bacon were perfectly tasty as well. I would highly recommend Scottwood B and B to all my friends!

We had an excellent stay! Beautiful house and property. The owners made our stay the best and very accommodating. The location is right outside of Midway and close to Lexington. Breakfast each morning was very nice spread. We will definitely be staying there in our future visits.

As a frequent bed and breakfast-flopping traveler, I’ve left feedback for most of these establishments, nearly always happy to relay my experiences about the pleasant surroundings, the friendly innkeeper, the competent service. My stay at Scottwood Bed and Breakfast made me realize I’d settled for, and been happy with, average. This B & B is simply outstanding in every aspect, and I want to share my thoughts about a captivating slice of travelers’ heaven.

Upon my arrival from a 9+ hour drive from Kansas City, I was greeted by Tim and the resident charm-fest “Jenny”, and soon toured their memorable home. Very nice! Every bit of it oozing character, and attractively decorated with classy restraint by Annette. I stayed in the Williamsburg room, which contained appropriate and (thankfully) minimal appointments. No visual clutter, no major dust-catching objects. Neat as a pin, my room did not yield even a spec of overlooked dirt or general “ick”, which is something I’m insanely fussy about, and the bathroom was pristine. It was just a great example of how a beautiful, historic environment should be presented. And all freshly spiffed up to within an inch of its life. The entire home was immaculate, yet comfortable, and smelled clean - even the crowded and busy workhorse kitchen yielded nothing unpleasant. Olfactory-wise, (yep, I’m obsessed with smell, too), it was all unexpected for such an old home tucked into property that is dense and natural. The grounds were lovely, inviting me to linger, and (surprise) smell the roses. Next visit to Scottwood: that private cottage. The pictures do not do justice to its magical, airy space, and I’m calling dibs on it.

Of course, the service was unparalleled. But more important for me, I’ve not met innkeepers as genuinely likeable as Annette and Tim. “Make yourself at home…blah, blah….” - how many times has that well-intentioned phrase been reflexively uttered? I’d heard these words at literally every B & B. But saying this is not lip service for these two. This road warrior felt entirely at home, and I do mean HOME. Everything about them exemplified normalcy, the sheer comfort of having been folded, however temporary, into their world of family, friends and home. I’m a private person, and though quiet time was thorougly respected, when I was up and about there was relaxed and engaging conversation, all very refreshing in its lack of reserve and conveying an interest in making connections with those to which they open their home. There was neither hovering, nor isolation. Annette thoughtfully joined me for an excellent hot breakfast (Tim had outside commitments), which was presented at the time of my request. The fresh strawberries served with her signature Amaretto cream sauce are absolutely scarf-worthy, and the company cheerful and easy.

So, I hit the road again for another 9-hour drive contenting east, fully rested and with my she-monster breakfast appetite sated. I felt the search for an adequate B & B at my usual halfway point had not only come to an end, but had unearthed a little gem far exceeding my expectations. I knew the next time I’d be in this neck of the woods I would be resting in a lovely, historic home, and seeing these delightful people, every time I passed through.

It is with an honest appraisal that I highly recommend this establishment to anyone desiring utter cleanliness, superior service, and a thoroughly enjoyable host family. This is Bed-and-Breakfasting at its best, and it’s due entirely to the hard work and generosity of the owner-innkeepers. And one adorable “pet-away-from-home” named Jenny.

I absolutely loved this B&B and felt completely at home. It was immaculately clean, well decorated, extremely comfortable. The proprietors were very friendly. The grounds were beautiful. I traveled with my two daughters and they loved the yard, right by a river. The home had lot's of personality, plenty of places to sit and read, and the feather bed was a hit. The food was incredible...just perfect. I want to visit this area again...lot's to do in a short drive of Scottswood. I'll be back!

Our recent stay in the Carriage House at Scottwood was nothing short of wonderful. Our visit was during the Polar Vortex so one of my "must haves" was a fireplace. At the foot of the bed was a comfy loveseat perfectly situated in front of the fireplace. Boy, did we enjoy winding down at the end of the day warming our bones there! Since the Carriage House is detached from the main house it had the feel of a cabin, complete with a small loft overlooking the main room. The ceiling had several sky lights to brighten things up during the day. In more agreeable weather there was a lovely deck that could be enjoyed. The bathroom was roomy, and the shower had lots of water pressure and plenty of hot water. Yes! Tim and Annette felt more like friends than innkeepers and joined us for breakfast as we were the only guests at this time. The breakfasts were bountiful and delicious. One of my favorite dishes was the fresh fruit cut into perfect bite-size pieces served with amaretto cream. I would highly recommend staying here at any time of year. (I hope this posts. This is my third attempt on Trip Advisor. Don't know where the others went)
