Surrounded by tropical plants and animals🐒🦋🦇, taking a breathtaking view over the jungle while listening to the music of the birds and other animals is a rarely given opportunity for getting in sync with Mother Nature. Here you can live the simple and quiet live with healthy vegetarian food, fresh coconut 🥥 milk and home grown tea. Pure Gaia🌎 Rooms are nice, all with a terasse and shower. The last 30 minutes getting up here is an amazing TucTuc trip uphill on narrow paths. An exiting and proper way to enter a place like this. Love it ♥️🌴 Host William warmly welcomed us and took very good care of us during our whole stay. We will be back to embrace this visionary oasis☀️😊 Tommy and Yvonne
Everything from Williams thoughtful communication before and upon booking, the warm welcome, the absolutely beautiful bungalow, the tasty and abundant Sri Lankan food, the wonderful local staff to the stunning setting in the mountains amidst jungle and tea crops blew our minds. William, the owner and host (who is a wonderfully warm and highly interesting and intelligent human being with so many stories to tell from his many travels), has found a magical spot where you instantly feel close to nature and he is building his place with great respect for the surroundings and has many great visions. The location is perfectly nestled between rain forest and tea plantations and within driving distance to a lot of great activities - so this is a perfect and peaceful base to explore! And if you don't feel like venturing too far there is jungle and hikes to explore right there - and besides, I could spend hours just taking in the view. Food was plentiful and wonderful and it felt like sitting down for meals with family! Do yourself a favour and visit Kurulu Estate to find your centre, I'm sure you won't regret it!…
Kurulu state was an amazing place for us, after seeing it on facebook we contacted prof William before arriving at the property and did our research in terms of what to expect. We were picked up from Godakawela from tuk-tuk and escorted to the beautiful property in the middle of a tea estate. We were really lucky to have a bright and sunny day and explored the entire property. Everything starting from food, the amenities in the room, cleanliness, hospitality of the staff and their interest to provide a great experience was truly amazing. Food was all vegan and we enjoyed all our meals. The vegetables are fresh from the village and now they have their own organic garden as well. The highlight was their tea, KURuLU TEA is all handmade at the property and has the real taste of tea! We experienced the joy of Srilanka hospitality in its truest sense at Kurulu Estate. We stayed in the main bungalow which was very spacious and the bathroom was amazing with a separate shower cubicle. Its all made with granites, I felt like living in an ancient castle! prof William said that all granite was found in the property itself. The bed was so comfy with thick sheets to hide in when it is very cold in the night. While staying in the jungle you should always remember and be aware of the natural surroundings so we weren't really bothered by the geckos We even saw a land monitor walk by the restaurant casually. And this place is good for bird watching with a lot of birds in the area. We walked to the forest area with the manager, its more like you go in Sinharaja, with same flora and fauna. We had a view of adamspeak when we get up in the morning! The owner has down a beautiful job of setting it up without spoiling the natural environment. And we couldn't thank enough prof William for being a super host! Himself is a destination, got so many stories to tell by the experiences in life. Also if you are into yoga and meditation, KURULU ESTATE is the right place to that. it has nice calm bhawana seats in the middle of the jungle with a nice view. I couldn't thank enough for the amazing hospitality given by the prof William and the staff. It a must visit if you .KURULU ESTATE is highly recommended for people ware looking for a nice relaxing holiday in the wild away from hustle in the cities…
The sojourn itself a pleasure at Kurulu Estate, great escapade over the hilly mountainous surroundings of Rakwana, where mind meets true nature and drifts you away from one range of mountains to the other. The view point from the chalet was mesmerising and jungle and creeks flowing beside create a beautifully painted picturesque atmosphere. I met this amazing Prof. William Selandia, (Prof.Feel Good Heart), a Danish professor on comparative religions, who is the proud owner of this exquisite property and had the most mind relaxing conversation about inner peace and harmony, wish I could have recorded. Kurulu bungalows are made out of rock, earth and timber found from the land itself where they stand and expresses the true Sri Lankan architecture which reminds you of the shape of an ancient Buddhist shrine with high thick walls roofed with brick tiles arranged in a paramedical shape. The rooms are bigger and sumptuous which easily can accommodate even a group of 5 to 6 people with breathing cool air walls made out of rocks. Here the rule is, menu would be strictly vegetarian and no alcohol will be served or allowed from outside, which was a challenge for some of our colleagues. But we concluded at the end of our stay, that one must go through such experience just to realise how serene and relaxed your mind and body could be. Reaching the location will be a challenge I think the hotel must pay attention but felt on a second thought that it would be better off without proper approach once you reach the hotel and take a breath of fresh air.…
After a fairly hectic two weeks of travelling from Colombo to Jaffna and all points south, I had the pleasure of discovering Kurulu estate, situated high along a magnificent range of mountains. A tuk- tuk ride up from Godakawela, the nearest town, was a wonderful way to catch glimpses of this amazing resort which sits so easily into the landscape, and just looks as though it is part of the entire landscape. A warm welcome, and then days of superb Sri Lankan food, relaxation and "recharging the batteries"! The staff are all local villagers, eager to please, and available and happy to fulfill any needs. Accomodation is private and comfortable, and my stay in the large bungalow was a real treat, with a huge bedroom and lovely bathroom. For anyone seeking some time away from the bustle, a restorative time at Kurulu is highly recommended. I will now look forward to another stay next April when I return to beautiful Sri Lanka.…
