Honestly my fav restaurant in Norfolk. I honestly cannot fault this place. Laura is so lovely and the food is always not and fresh. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I had my best-friends surprise me for my 18th birthday here and honestly couldn't thank everything they and the staff did for me. I suffer from coeliac disease and Laura... More

Good family meal here and attentive service. don't know how they remember the huge amount of specials as well as extensive usual list. Seafood platter was lovely, crab, mackerel salmon and fresh prawns derved with new potatoes and good fish and chips. Very quick service though slow wifi and has a car park to rear and out door pub tables.... More

We arrived here on the evening prior to our pilgrimage to Walsingham. After our long journey, we received a warm welcome and were shown our accommodation which was more than adequate. The room was clean and comfortable with an excellent En-suite bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities were well stocked. Having forgotten to pack toothbrushes, our host was even able... More

Visited one Thursday evening for the steak night offer.Very good value for the money, very welcoming staff to this old village pub .Well decorated and kept interior slightly let down by the first impression of a bit scruffy exterior garden, but don't be put off it is well worth eating there.

Stayed here recently with my husband for one night on our way to visiting relatives on the Norfolk coast. Pub itself is historically charming. Staff are friendly, polite and hard-working. Food and service (both dinner and breakfast) was excellent. Our room was on the small side, but had a cosy feel about it and as we live in a small... More

We have eaten here once before and were very impressed, so much so that we arranged a trip to coincide with staying overnight here and were really surprised. The staff were really friendly, the room very comfortable and clean. As this is an old dwelling the décor has been kept accordingly and have really nice local rural views depicted on... More

Just a regular Saturday night. Thought it would be nice to go out to eat but didn't want to drive all the way into Norwich. After some thought we remembered we had been here once about 20 years ago so decided to give it another look. I"m so glad we did. The pub and staff are really warm and welcoming.... More

Stayed for only one night at the Blue Boar Inn. The landlady had telephoned me to tell me where our room keys would be as we arrived at six on a Sunday evening. The Inn is located in an extremely quiet and pretty Norfolk village. The room, although only very small was well appointed and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was... More

Wee were a party of 4 and were greeted by the landlady Laura who took our pre-prandial drinks order and led us through to the dining room. The Easter menu was varied and we chose the salmon and mackerel pate made by the head chef. It was creamy, full of flavour and delicious. The main we chose was the local... More

We visited as a family of 8. The starter was average, but everything else about the meal was superb. Really good value for money and a massive selection on the menu. The ambiance in the venue was great - a roaring coal fire, good selection of ales and the staff were possibly the most friendly of any venue I've eaten... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Blue Boar Inn is a coaching inn dating from 1685. Bought in 2008 by us, James and Melinda, this listed building has been lovingly restored. The bar has a beamed ceiling and an inglenook fireplace which has a roaring fire on colder days. In the summer you can relax in the beer garden and hopefully enjoy the sunshine! The garden is fully enclosed and has swings & toys for the children. The restaurant can seat up to 50 diners and can be booked for parties and functions. Our food is locally sourced as much as possible, with our pork produced next door at "Perfick Pork", beef from Binham, crabs and mussels (when in season) from Brancaster to mention but a few! James is the chef and has worked at many well know restaurants in Norfolk as well as working in Australia, New Zealand and Bermuda. We have five en-suite bedrooms, and these have been tastefully and comfortably decorated, each with tea / coffee making facilities, free wifi, hairdryer and colour TV. Our aim is to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible, so if there is anything we may have overlooked, please do not hesitate to ask, we will do our very best to accommodate you. ... more   less
