Traveling for work and a Hilton Diamond member I'm perfectly satisfied with my accommodations at the Embassy Suites directly across the street from this beautiful historic building! After a long conference, I returned to my hotel but could not resist checking this property directly across the street out. Rest assured, the hotel does not rely on its history, which is jaw-dropping to welcome guests. even as a "non hotel" guest o was enthusiastically welcomed and provided with the lowdown of the magnificent history and quality of this hotel! Definitely on my bucket list when I return to Louisville but in the meantime I have to mention Patrick, Shanetta, and Breia for welcoming a curious visitor from across the street! This is a MUST SEE whether or not you choose to stay (I will next time!).

Hotel's Favorite
I stayed 4 nights during a National Volleyball Tournament (4/7/22 - 4/11/22). The room was spacious and well maintained for being an older hotel. Everyone on staff was very polite and accommodating, and made sure everything was going well during the entire stay. Housekeeping also did an excellent job freshening up the room on a daily basis. Saturday night, we did a "history of the hotel" tour with hotel security supervisor, Patrick. He brought us to many "behind the scenes" areas and rooms of the hotel. The Rathskeller room in the basement was one of the coolest rooms I've ever seen, and the stories of all the historical key players that have ties to it were amazing. Never saw the ghosts who are claimed to haunt the hotel, but I was always looking! Very intriguing! Old Seelbach Bar was fantastic! Every kind of bourbon you could think of! It was an awesome ambience and service was excellent. Several parents from our team came downtown to hang out and I brought them to the Old Seelbach Bar between venues were were visiting. Their experience in the bar and the front lobby was enough to get their interest to stay there in the future. Special THANK YOU to: Alicia, Camrann & Patrick from hotel staff and Virginia & David from bell/valet service for being so kind and making my experience the best it could be! I will be back!

Nice older hotel with a lot of character. The bar food is mediocre. The elevator app rarely works. The water for showering is luke warm. The valet service is spotty. Minimal staff available at night for help or assistance.

A beautiful historic hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is small as usual in an older hotel but it worked for two of us. Self parking is easy. The bar can be expensive if order Bourbon but the have a big selection and also very good chicken wings.

I always come to Louisville with my ballet company, on tour has been coming since 2008. I had stayed in many places and at The Seelbach Hilton before. But on Nov 3rd at the checking I had the worst experience by the front desk supervisor. I’m not sure what her name is, but she was working around 4pm. Our ballet company booked a room for 2 days. I checked in with the group got to my room and didn’t like it, windows were dirty and a horrible noise coming from the next door room, plus there were no light. I came back downstairs and asked, if I could change the room, and she said they were booked. She didn’t even checked in the computer. Just simply said that. She said come tomorrow maybe we will have availability. I left and felt her very rude, I came back again with friend he asked another front desk lady we explained to her. I wanted to change rooms, with a second as we are explaining, the same lady we’ve spoke previously comes across the room and simply says: I already spoke to them! At this point I believe it’s very annoying, I checked hotel website and there’s plenty of rooms. Meaning if I wanted to book a new room I could, because they were available, and not all rooms were booked as she stated before. So my question was why, just not change the room? It’s so simple! I asked my tour manager (she’s white) to come down and help. She shows up asked to change the room, a different lady in the front desk helps and gets me a new room( problem solved in 5min) no one treated her with rudeness, one of the staff members came to her room, help her switch rooms previously brought her keys personally. I’m thinking they just told me they didn’t had a room, I mention to my tour manager you just had yours changed it! I’m so confused. In the mean time the whole team at the front desk already KNEW! I wanted to change room. I was there for 30min trying to get a new room. I felt very disrespected and clearly this was racism and it’s so disappointing! We are in 2023 staff members in hospitality has to do better. It’s unacceptable! I changed the room come downstairs to give the old key to the front desk lady and my friend says we were able to change the room and she answers with sarcasm: Super! Clearly no apologies at all. I will never stay here again. I do not support a racist hotel or racist staff members.

Fellow Travelers... do not believe the positive posted reviews for the Seelbach Hotel. We recently stayed the weekend for a family wedding and this hotel was in terrible condition. Although a historic property, just about everything was over 30 years old!! The mattress was horrible and over 30 years old, the shower door did not have a seal and leaked, the shower only dripped water out and one could not rinse the shampoo out of your hair, the carpet in our room was over 30 years old and dirty. The owner(s) obviously have not invested any money for decades, and continue to leverage the "Historic" nature of this hotel trying to convince guests to stay. A very disappointing stay for a Hilton Diamond Member!

Thank you for taking the opportunity to review our facility, we are in the last stage to initiate a complete renovation of the facility, unfortunately the issues that transpire during the past few years have delay our efforts to renovate our facility, the management company and ownership are working hard to ensure the renovation stay true to the historic elements of the property and the plans are just breathtaking.

A grand historic hotel, close to many restaurants and entertainment establishments. If you're a fan of the more historical, youd definitely be a fan of the hotel - the furnishings are grand, although all the modern amenities are here. If you're a fan of more modern or minimalist hotels, the decor probably won't be what you're looking for, but as part of the Bourbon trail the hotel lives up to its stately reputation. Staff are friendly, especially the breakfast staff. Only minor complaint I had was a slight rattling noise during the night - I suspect either an ice machine or similar. It may have impacted light sleepers.

This historic hotel is a must-see when visiting Louisville! The staff here are so friendly and helpful. I messed up my online check-in and Cynthia at the front desk took care of everything for me. So thankful for her kindness and support. The food at the Seelbach bar was so great, we ate there twice! Make sure to go downstairs and check out the Rathskeller room and read up on the history of the hotel. We could not get enough of all the details. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had a remarkable experience from start to finish. Our bellman, Aidan was especially helpful in getting us settled. The Old Seelbach Bar was a rousing spot for a late-night cocktail. The room is spacious, and security is tight. Within walking distance is Abyssinia, a delicious Ethiopian restaurant. For lunch, Safier Mediterranean was delicious.
