I waited nearly 3 hours after normal check in to be given access to the room I had booked and had requested an electronic key. Finally achieved access at 7pm in the evening. Many of the service I consider to be part of the Hilton experience were closed.
I stayed 4 nights during a National Volleyball Tournament (4/7/22 - 4/11/22). The room was spacious and well maintained for being an older hotel. Everyone on staff was very polite and accommodating, and made sure everything was going well during the entire stay. Housekeeping also did an excellent job freshening up the room on a daily basis. Saturday night, we did a "history of the hotel" tour with hotel security supervisor, Patrick. He brought us to many "behind the scenes" areas and rooms of the hotel. The Rathskeller room in the basement was one of the coolest rooms I've ever seen, and the stories of all the historical key players that have ties to it were amazing. Never saw the ghosts who are claimed to haunt the hotel, but I was always looking! Very intriguing! Old Seelbach Bar was fantastic! Every kind of bourbon you could think of! It was an awesome ambience and service was excellent. Several parents from our team came downtown to hang out and I brought them to the Old Seelbach Bar between venues were were visiting. Their experience in the bar and the front lobby was enough to get their interest to stay there in the future. Special THANK YOU to: Alicia, Camrann & Patrick from hotel staff and Virginia & David from bell/valet service for being so kind and making my experience the best it could be! I will be back!…
There might be ghosts in this historic hotel, but not a reason to stay here. The rooms are small and outdated with filthy old furniture. The bar will not serve your group drinks after 10:30, so bring your own. That said, the bar staff are kind and the service is good. The manager on duty was not particularly helpful, and not customer friendly-- Clearly, at this property, the guest is not always right. However, the front staff and concierge staff were professional and very helpful.
I had to leave a review for Virginia in valet. She was absolutely amazing! Her service is impeccable. We were only there two nights but she took the time to learn our names, was always friendly, and made sure we had a ride to the airport. She definitely went above and beyond!
Everyone knows the woke world we're living in, but there are way too damn many homeless in and around that area by the hotel. We could hardly walk anywhere without being panhandled aggressively over and over and over again. There is zero police presence. You basically ran for the hotel door for safety. You couldn't really walk to church on Sunday because they were everywhere. I had a car which I parked at the hotel but was tempted to take Uber just to avoid the walk when going out. There is a CVS across the street with a security guard inside and once you walk out the homeless are on you. . Louisville has got to do something about this. If they do not, people are going to stop wanting to stay downtown. Next time I go, I will stay at a nice hotel in the suburbs. Restaurant was very good the breakfast is like $ 31.00 for buffet.... did not do it myself...…
This historic hotel was beautiful and the rooms were spacious, however, the music from 4th Street live was so loud (and literally 24/7) that we barely got any sleep. Also, the homelessness situation in general in the vicinity of this hotel was problematic. We did not use the restaurant but the bar was very nice. The room was nice for an old building but the bathrooms are in need of some updating. Also, I feel that if you aren’t going to provide housekeeping everyday, a larger trash receptacle should be placed in the rooms.
While in Louisville for the weekend, we had to visit the Seelbach. The Hotel is just as beautiful as it looks in pictures. We learned so much more about the hotel’s amazing history from the wonderful staff. Thank you to Carolina who we met at the entrance and provided us great info. Unfortunately, we did not get the chance to stay here…but we are so happy we were able to visit.
This was simply a great and unexpected experience. Being a HHonors member I was drawn to the Seelbach due to its affiliation with Hilton but got so much more. I simply had no idea of the history of the hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff was amazing. The valet team was very efficient and friendly. When we expressed an interest in the history of the hotel the front desk staff set us up with Patrick of the security team who took us on a tour of the hotel and shared so much of the history and folk lore of the building. The food and beverage team was simply great with Danielle so knowledgeable and patient in helping us discover bourbons and your dynamic due in the morning for breakfast who made you feel like visitors in their home. Could not have asked for more kindness or a better experience.…
Carolina at the valet desk was wonderful along with every other employee we encountered. We love to travel and loved the ease of this experience and the ability to walk nearly everywhere. Would highly recommend!
My wife used to work down the street and walked by this Hotel and always wanted to stay so we did. To start, our Concierge, Carolina was friendly, engaging and very helpful…she gets her own 5 star rating! The hotel is beautiful with a great bourbon bar with a great atmosphere. Breakfast area was large and open (didn’t eat hear so can’t speak to the food but I’m sure…)! If you could find one complaint it the very small bathroom due to the age of this historic building. Fot us it’s not worth complaining about. Great place located right next to 4th street live which is great for food and fun!
