I will never stay anywhere else in Louisville. Bed and breakfast stays are often relaxing, enjoyable, and beautiful. The Louisville Bourbon Inn offers so much more! Let's start with the house itself. This Victorian home has been beautifully and painstakingly restored with every detail considered and carefully planned. The furnishings are comfortable and plush, but not over the top and still very welcoming. The hardwood floors are gorgeous and the rooms are beautiful. Then we could discuss the food. Ohhhh, the food. Allen makes gourmet breakfasts, the likes of which you won't even find at your favorite brunch spot. They're plated fresh as you come to the table in the morning with a kind and genuine smile, and they can accommodate any dietary need and will do so happily. The Inn also offers cocktails, and let me tell you that you don't even need to go to the Bourbon Trail to get the best old fashioned you've ever had. But the real gem of staying at the LBI is the proprietor. While we didn't meet Jeff - and I'm sure he's amazing! - Allen is easily the kindest, most thoughtful host you could possibly ask for. He's flexible to his guests' needs and will happily blend in with the scenery when you're having a moment with your bestie or come hang out with you at the local tavern if you're wanting to learn more about Louisville. We loved spending time with Allen as much as we did reconnecting with lifelong friends. Do yourself a favor and book your room now. You'll have a great stay, get some incredible food, relax deeply, laugh often, and make a friend, too.

It was our first time to Louisville and we found the Louisville Bourbon Inn on line. We traveled with our best friends from home here in Florida. We can not say enough about how great our experience was from start to finish. Allen and Jeff are the owners and live on site and immediately make you feel welcome and at home in their home. We arrived early and they were there to greet us and took care of our bags as our rooms were not quite ready. The inn is a magnificent old victorian and beautifully appointed with very comfortable furniture mixed with antiques through out the home. Beware, the house is said to be haunted but the only spirits we saw were the ones we drank!! The place is meticulously maintained and they freshened the room each day. The place is very clean and tidy. Both Allen and Jeff were full of suggestions for restaurants and local sites. We enjoyed the many "living rooms" just relaxing with our friends. Often we would end our day with time in the front parlor to recap our daily adventures. They provide a pantry with snacks, water, soft drinks and coffee 24/7. They also offer some wine and other spirits at a very reasonable price. There is a very nice park literally across the street and Buck's Restaurant is a 3 minute walk. The Inn is located a short drive to all the sites you want to see. The owners arranged a driver for a tour of the many distilleries on the Trail. This was also a highlight of our trip and would highly recommend Rob from Travel the Trail Custom Bourbon Trails. So let's talk breakfast. This is Allen's passion and you can tell. Allen is a great chef and presented us with marvelous breakfasts each morning we were there. Each was a visual and delectable delight. We were just so thrilled with what Allen would serve up each morning . Jeff handles the coffee, juice and water keeping your coffee fresh and your glasses full and he keeps the conversation lively. We enjoyed the company of not only Allen and Jeff but also the other guests. They really make you feel like you are not only a guest but a valued friend. We have experienced many B&Bs and this is by far the best. We all felt a strong connection with Allen and Jeff and were genuinely thrilled to have had such a fulfilling stay at the Louisville Bourbon Inn. When we get back to Louisville, we know exactly where we will be staying. Do not hesitate, you will not be disappointed

Thank you so much for your truly delightful review! We are beyond thrilled that your first trip to Louisville was such a memorable experience and that you and your friends felt so welcome at the Louisville Bourbon Inn. It means the world to us that you enjoyed every detail—from the beautiful Victorian charm and comfortable living spaces to the spirits (both of the ghostly and liquid kind!) and, of course, Allen’s passion for creating marvelous breakfasts each morning. I am always happy to keep the coffee flowing and the conversation lively, and we are so grateful to have shared such wonderful moments with you all. We’re honored that you felt like valued friends during your stay and can’t wait to welcome you back to your home away from home when you return to Louisville. Thank you for the recommendation and for making your stay with us so special!

We loved our stay at the Louisville Bourbon Inn. We stayed in the Old Fashioned Suite and loved the Victorian charm of the home (dark wood paneling, grand staircase, pocket doors, giant windows) coupled with modern amenities (comfortable bed, modern shower, WiFi). It was the perfect base for our neighborhood walking tour of Victorian Louisville houses (the highest concentration of Victorian homes in the U.S.), our visit of Louisville museums, bourbon distilleries and shopping, and a great central location for our day trips to Lexington and Mammoth Cave.

Each morning we had super delicious and finely crafted breakfasts and nice conversation with other guests. Coming and going was easy with snacks and glass bottles of water and drinks for use to take back to our room.

Can’t recommend it enough!

Normally, I would say we are not B&B people. Our experience is that most homes and hosts feel like visiting an aged, slightly racist aunt who collects commemorative tea spoons. The Louisville Bourbon Inn, however, is like visiting aristocratic benefactors as honored guests.

The place is not only immaculate, it manages to aesthetically emphasize the historic mansion while feeling fresh and contemporary. Fresh flowers everywhere, glistening chandeliers, and white sofas are a beautiful and brave choice but contribute to the feeling that you're visiting friends at a mansion, personalized and private. Our room was exceptional, with views of Central Park, and the historic homes district for morning strolls. But one of the many elements that made our stay during Derby Week so memorable was our host Allen.

Allen greeted us with a warm smile and a bourbon of exceptional quality. Many B&B hosts have seemed uncomfortable to see we are a married gay couple but we were welcomed with open arms. Better still, that man can whip up an espresso martini with chocolate covered espresso beans while keeping you laughing. And then **poof** he's gone, leaving you to enjoy the sunny sitting room and surprising calm.

Breakfast in the grand dining room is a whole other level. Allen should be at a 5-star restaurant. Shrimp and grits, or avocado toast with poached egg, or fresh fruit and yogurt, or... it doesn't matter what is on offer, it's going to be the best and freshest you've tasted. I just wish the Inn offered other meals prepared by Allen so we could stay put during the heat of the day.

We will definitely return and hope the Inn continues to attract adults who can appreciate the effort and elegance that sets this place above the rest. Highly recommend.

Tell me you're a wonderful host without telling me you're a wonderful host. For those who only read the first two sentences looking for the point - here you go! Louisville Bourbon Inn lived up to the expectations I had of wonderful. My wife and I were delighted with how relaxing and safe we felt, and were very pleased with our rooms and the entire facility. Most importantly, the staff took care of our every need.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and given a tour of the main home. Beautiful and well appointed, the Louisville Bourbon Inn satisfied our senses for the high quality placed into every detail. Everything was so clean and in its place, but never at any time did we feel it was a museum in which things couldn't be touched and enjoyed.

We rented the entire carriage house, separate from the main home. It was perfect for a large family or 3 couples with streaming TV's in each room and area, along with a very comfortable feel. There's a kitchen, bar stocked with coffee, beautiful living room, and 3 separate suites, each with their own locking door code. Our room was the Bourbon Fizz, perfect for my wife and me, the bathroom suite was large and very roomy. Water pressure, temperature and hardness was not a problem either. Living room was very large with a large dining table and plenty of seating to watch TV. I was very happy there!

Breakfast each morning was a highlight. Show up and have a seat and you'll be greeted with coffee, juice, water - whatever you need and minutes later the entree of the morning will be served. Dietary needs were met and every breakfast was unique and very delicious. I love how I didn't have to lift a finger, worry about paying or tipping when finished... Just enjoy the food and the people at the moment, I felt is how the owners intended their B&B to be.

Along the way we ordered six Old Fashioned drinks and within 5-10 minutes, one of the owners showed up with all ready to go. And let me just say, it's about as good as they come. The only gripe I might have is that the ice cube wasn't perfectly clear, but yeah, 1st world problems I suppose.

We spent 5 days there and like I said, felt very safe. It's in a fine area, no problems with individuals on the streets to bother you. Uber was there within 10 minutes every time we wanted to get somewhere, so not too close to the city but not too far.

On checkout day we hung out at the Louisville Zoo, which we thought was really fun and well designed. Then came back and the owner let us hang out there for a little over an hour until our flight later that evening. He even made us drinks as we relaxed and enjoyed the remaining time there.

Overall, best thing we did was book this place. When we come back or if I'm staying for business, I will absolutely book it again. 100% the way to go, especially for couples!

This might be the most amazing Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed at quite a few BnBs! Allen was the most amazing host (Jeffrey was awesome prior to the trip!) The rooms were luxurious, and as a "pretty pretty princess" when it comes to bedding - I could not have been more impressed (or cozy)! There were even protective covers under the sheets that let me know these hosts went the extra mile to ensure the cleaners conditions.

Don't forget to ask Allen for recommendations for food/drinks and DO NOT miss the opportunity to order a cocktail! The old fashioned was my partner's favourite, and I absolutely adored the Big Fig. We came for the eclipse viewing from the room's private balcony but, honestly, I was sad we hadn't booked an extra day or two.

From the moment you check in, you can sense how this was selected as the best bed and breakfast in Louisville. Allan did everything he could to ensure exceptional service. He moved our reservation to a lower floor before we checked in so we would be more comfortable during a heat way. He offered many suggestions to make our stay pleasant. When we returned from one of his restaurant suggestions we mentioned the food was great , but the service wasn’t very welcoming. He said that was unacceptable and within a few minutes got back to us saying the entire meal cost was going to be refunded.

The Derby room was very large and comfortable. The home is very charming as you can see from the pictures and the staircase makes you feel you are stepping back into a gilded age. And the breakfast was so delicious I wished we
could have stayed much longer. I will definitely stay here again.

The Louisville Bourbon Inn was a magical experience for my husband and I.
We highly recommend this absolutely beautiful Inn to family & friends.

It all started with our professional host Allen sharing his knowledge of this beautiful area. He had made our visit magical from the time we first entered this magnificent property.

The rooms are very spacious and exquisite. We stayed in the cottage & we were comfortable with the layout of the cottage. It had everything available for our stay.
The space that we had selected was home away from home without all the work so that we actually extended our reservation an additional night.
We truly experienced a safe, relax and calm atmosphere.
Allen's positive attitude was impeccable. However, that was minimum to his skills for our morning cuisine. Allen prepared for each guest a morning breakfast. His
culinary skills was something that neither my husband nor myself have ever experienced. The dishes that he prepared were absolutely amazing and we wish we could give our experience a 6 star rating.

Allen's passion & skills of professional details was felt throughout our entire visit.
As far as location, this beautiful gem, The Louisville Bourbon Inn was conveniently located to downtown, airport, Churchill Down, Distilleries and Major highways.
We will be back and will be bringing additional friends and family as there is room for all.

We will be back for our beloved Kentucky Coffee.
Thank you Louisville Bourbon Inn for your amazing hospitality.

My husband and I stayed at the Louisville Bourbon Inn while visiting Kentucky. The Louisville Bourbon Inn is a beautiful, well-kept Victorian style home away from home located in Old Louisville. This B&B is a gem that was also beautifully decorated for the holidays. Absolutely enchanting!

The Bourbon Inn is co-owned, managed and maintained by Allen Mitchell. His hospitality is out of this world. Allen is a phenomenal host who is also an excellent cook. He is truly a class act!

The Louisville Bourbon Inn won the 2024 Tripadvisor-Travelers’ Choice BEST OF THE BEST Award.

We will definately stay at the Louisville Bourbon Inn during our next visist.

So glad we found this place! Loved everything about it from booking to checkout. We spent a few minutes on the phone to help decide on booking and I never want to book a place online again🙂 Jeff took the time to describe a couple of the rooms, get to know us a bit, then suggested a suite that was perfect for us. The beautiful mansion *just wow* very tasteful decor- perfect blend of modern upgrades without distorting the historic beauty. Loved the bourbon themed suites! Lovely, festive Christmas decorations made everything even more grand. We were warmly welcomed by the very communicative Jeff, so we knew just where to park and which entrance to use. He was also very knowledgeable when it came to navigating, seeing the area, suggesting restaurants, etc. We loved that he was able to give us a little history about the inn as well. We woke up to the smell of fresh coffee brewing. Breakfast was hot & hearty. We will be going back for a longer visit and would highly recommend to anyone- including those hesitant about B & B style accommodations.

I see you already received some answers but I thought I’d add a bit. The inn is beautiful and the innkeepers are very nice. The neighborhood is lovely. If you are interested in Victorian architecture you can walk all over this area and see so many different styles. You can also take guided tours to learn about the architecture. There is an Italian restaurant a few blocks away that is very good and in the other direction is a sports bar type place. The innkeepers will be happy to give you directions. Enjoy your stay!
