We made a reservation at the Vu Guesthouse for the Kentucky Derby, it appeared to be a good option when seeking lodgings or a hotel in Louisville, there are a few reviews that made us wary however we regret not taking these more seriously. The COVID-19 pandemic has rippled across the States and when the dates of the Derby were moved due to this we contacted the hotel to ask if we could move the dates of our stay, after much contact to and fro they finally agreed to move our reservation only after threatening to increase their already vastly inflated rates for that period. When our tickets (and those of 85% of the other ticket holders) to the Kentucky Derby were cancelled and we have become unable to travel to Kentucky from where we will be due to COVID-19 travel restrictions the Vu Guesthouse have: 1) refused to discuss our reservation stating (incorrectly) that it was controlled by Booking.com. 2) when Booking.com confirmed it was Vu Guesthouse who managed this reservation they have refused to honor their policy in relation to COVID-19 refunds - "If you want to cancel your booking and have already made a prepayment, the property should offer you credit or a voucher for a future stay. If you'd prefer to receive a refund, you're entitled to that also" - that is to say Vu Guesthouse refused to offer a credit, voucher for a future stay or a refund despite having a policy in place for the same. Clearly Vu Guesthouse are a business that is determined, despite being in the hospitality industry, that it will profiteer on of the misfortune of others (during a pandemic) and refuse to honor stated policies for bookings, credits and refunds. I would strongly recommend anyone reading this does not book with the Vu Guesthouse as the terms under which you make said reservation are unlikely to be followed by the staff at this establishment.

My husband and I received a warm greeting from Jessy when we arrived at this beautifully decorated hotel. Our room was quiet w a comfortable bed. I would stay here again for sure! We stayed in the separate guest house. It has its own lobby. There was no ice maker, but Jessy and the housekeeper brought us ice from the main building. The decor is such a wonderful blend of colors, sparkle and warmth!

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Upon checking in, we were given a map of the area and several recommendations for different museums, restaurants, and sights. I loved the hotel's style - definitely eclectic and classy. Even the toiletries provided in the room were great. Would definitely stay here again or recommend to friends.

Vue Guesthouse Louisville This hotel is located outside of Downtown area in an old business area that seems to be on the up. At check the receptionist was friendly and helpful and process very quick. This is not your conventional hotel though. It is about 2 years old and based in a French 'boutique' theme. The reception and bar area are very different and colourful. There are rooms in the converted building but we stayed in the Guesthouse rooms, a separate new building at the rear of the building. (From reading other reviews choose the Guesthouse if you want a quieter and larger room, although there is some noise from the highway) The rooms are tastefully furnished with mainly leather (even the bedside tables) and all quality fittings. Greeted with a box of 4 quality chocolates on the bed, which again was of good quality although a little soft for my liking. Free parking. There were no coffee making facilities in the room but there as coffee available in the morning at the entrance.

3 friends and I didn’t want a typical stay! This hotel is so amazing! Classy, friendly staff and very accommodating. Close enough to down town that Uber rides were only $5. They have “Morning” David pictured below was the kindest greeting I have ever gotten at a hotel! Tim and Cory AMAZING! And night David put up with me playing the baby grand at 2 AM so shout to him as well! & last but not least Denny the bartender you must to have a drink with! What a great time I’ll never forget!

This is a weird little hotel. I didn't love the neighborhood it was in...it could also be because we arrived at night, but I seriously thought my GPS took me to the wrong place. But we found it and as soon as you walk in you can feel that it's not your typical hotel. I actually really liked the decor in the rooms, I just thought it was laid out weird and also the lighting was a bit dark for me. It's definitely got a unique vibe and it's comfortable once you settle in.

I chose to stay at the Vu Guesthouse for a romantic weekend away with my boyfriend because it was a unique, boutique hotel, so something new. While I did thoroughly enjoy the eclectic decor, and everyone was very nice, we were thoroughly disappointed for a number of reasons. 1) It really is in the middle of no where on the outskirts of downtown. You don't want to walk around the neighborhood at night. I was a bit leery to leave my car parked out front but it was not harmed. And there is no food service in the hotel at all. 2) We were in room 203, on the second floor, in one of the queen bed lofts. While it being small didn't bother us, what did bother us was the lack of light overall. I understand "setting the mood" but I'd like to option to turn up a light or two in order to see what is in the room or in my bag or when using the restroom. 3) It always felt like 3am in the room because of the lack of light and you couldn't open the drapes to the 2 large windows at all. I understand not having a view, but just having the option for some natural light would have been nice, but the way the drapes were installed, you couldn't pull them back or up to let the light in. 4) The walls are PAPER thin. We heard everything our neighbors said and did - including using the restroom, just walking around and burping! We awoke one morning to a couple fighting and screaming at each other for about an hour. We heard every word. It was like we were in the same room with them in a soap opera. Kinda distracting and took the romance out of the morning. We later heard the cleaning ladies talking in the hallway about their personal lives. 5) Our room was over the bar - and the bar plays constant loud music until about 1:30am. Even with the TV turned up you could still hear the music and feel the bass. 6) The satellite system on the TV did not work as you would expect as the TV guide hours were always way off and the shows listed were not the ones actually on the channel at the moment. 7) The a/c unit is remote controlled, and the remote is all icons with no explanations so figuring out how to get a good temperature was more challenging then it should have been. I even Googled the remote's manual to figure it out. 8) There was one set of towels. I figured for a room with a queen bed, the expectation would be that up to two people could be staying the room. While the hotel concept is a great idea—and I do hope the neighborhood develops soon—it just seems like it was poorly constructed or thought out in some areas. Sound-proofing being #1.

The outside of the building is very unassuming but as soon as you walk in the door, it is absolutely stunning!!! An added plus is that it's an adults ONLY establishment! Everything from checkin to checkout went extremely well! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the hotel/bar last night! The ambiance is amazing and the decor is to die for! Thank you to EVERYONE (especially Denny) who made our stay a memorable one!!!

Was in Louisville for business and booked this hotel at the last minute because my downtown preferences were all booked. This was a little farther than I had planned but worked out fine since I had a car. The hotel was clean and organized and every staff member I encountered was courteous and helpful. The place was unique and maybe more for the thrill seeking tourist crowd and not business crowd, although I was fine with funkiness of it all. Would I take my wife and kids there? Probably not, but I would definately take my girlfriend.
