Ideally, this would have been a 5-star review. The Galt House is amazingly beautiful. The staff was polite and attentive and the hotel rooms were well appointed. Walker's Exchange has to be the best hotel restaurant I've eaten at in a long time. (The Short Rib Hash was great)! The staff was also following excellent social distancing and sanitary procedures which was much appreciated. The hotel is centrally located to everything downtown and minutes from the interstate and the bridge to Indiana.
The issues I had related to parking and the billing issues
1. The East side of the hotel is currently closed, but when you turn onto the one way street the hotel is on, it's the first side you come to. My wife and I spent about ten minutes parking in the East Side Garage, trying to get out of the garage, and only then finding that the East side was closed. Some signage outside directing people to the West side of the hotel could help with this.
2. On the other hand, the west side parking garage is under renovation and also experiencing technical difficulties due to the city. The room key is supposed to provide in and out access. However, only one entrance (on the third floor) and one exit (on the first floor) were accepting the room key. The other entrance, and most of the exits were broken, resulting in a lot of backing out of a parking garage's exit. Some large signage indicating where hotel guests should go to get out would be appreciated.
3. The final issue was a disconnected between the front desk and whoever does package and pricing/sales for the hotel. My wife and I did the Fuel Your Love for Travel package. On both check-in and check-out we had to tell front desk staff what was included in the package (DAILY meal credit, $25 Thorton's Gift Card, and PARKING) and refer them to the hotel's own website. The staff was quick to correct the issue.
Overall, an excellent experience, but with a few hiccups.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. We are thrilled you enjoyed our newly renovated rooms, amenities, and your meal at our fabulous Walker's Exchange restaurant. We are currently working with the city on the parking, and adding additional signage around the property to keep guests informed of the East Tower. We hope to see you soon. Sincerely, Celena Clemons Area Sales Administrator

The hotel is great, however. . .
Booked a stay in their riverfront 2br/2ba suite with a balcony. I’ve stayed here so many times over many years that I have lost count. The room, as always, was very well appointed and delightful. We paid $2,700 for our 6 night stay, so it’s not a cheap place. Around 5:00PM on our second day, we returned from a day of bourbon distillery tours to find the room not made up. I called the front desk & they brought up coffee & creamer, cups, and shampoo,. I later spoke to a manager about getting housekeeping to tidy up the place daily and replenish items that have been used. She said they do not do this but once every 3 days. I felt that being their guests for an extended stay and spending the amount of money we did would justify having our room looked at daily, but I was wrong. Every time I have stayed here, the only issue I have ever had, and it has been consistent, is with housekeeping. The place is really nice and the view can’t be beat, but lower your expectations. Once again, disappointed.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for your loyalty over the years and we appreciate your most recent visit as well as your related comments. During the Covid-19 pandemic, for the safety of our guests and staff alike, it has been common practice based on CDC guidelines and established industry safety procedures, that guest rooms will only be cleaned after 3 days without any guests present. At the same time we do have "drop off & go" service for any requested items that were maybe needed in between. I think we all look forward to the days that we can change to an alternate protocol related to this. So I am very sorry that you were disappointed, but regardless of length of stay the curent protocols would be followed until the time we reasonably can start making changes, which hopefully is not too far away. Thank you again for your stay and your feedback. Kind regards, Martin van der Laan Vice President of Operations

While in town for a conference we were housed in a lovely 14th floor room in the west tower with a nice view over the river and the main drive. The staff was very efficient and set up a secondary check in location for those of us loading in off the bus (50+ people x2 buses all trying to check in at once, done in under 30min). They had several people welcoming us at the door and helping to direct us as well as attending the elevators to get everyone to their floor expediently. These are some of the swiftest elevators I've ever ridden in. I didn't even notice we had moved and the doors were open before we had exchanged two sentences.

Their was some construction from the renovations but it wasn't all that noticeable except for around the 3rd floor of the elevator. It looked close to completion and the shops in that area had some really amazing finds! The sky bridge where the cafe and bar area are located has a pleasant atmosphere, aquarium IN the bar, and a nice bird enclosure. I made it a point to visit them every time I passed through!

We didn't venture out from the hotel but I did hear there were several museums and restaurants nearby that I want to check out next year when we go. I'll be looking forward to seeing the fully renovated Galt Hotel in it's full glory!

It started out bad at check-in. We were there for a convention (1000+). The front desk person that "served" me was rude and didn't appear to enjoy or care about his job. He told me I had reservations for two rooms. When I showed him my confirmation that clearly showed one room, he argued with me and finally said "OK, I'll just cancel your reservation." I looked surprised when he turned away. I actually thought he wasn't going to check me in at all. When I finally got to my room with all my luggage, I began putting some things away in the front closet and on the desk. When I walked to the bedroom I was shocked to see some dirty cleaning wipes laying o the bed. I figured I'd relay that info to the desk when I had a chance. I went to put away my remaining clothes in the dresser. When I opened the dresser drawer I was appalled to see dirty women's undergarments! (see photos) I went down to the front desk and told them what I'd found. The lady at the desk was shocked and began finding me a replacement room. She asked the gentleman that checked me in what else she could do. He tossed her a free meal and free drink ticket. I explained that all my meals and drinks were covered by my convention registration and thee guy took the tickets back without comment. I wasn't offered anything additional, nor was I offered help to relocate my luggage to the new room. When I got to the new room, there were no washcloths. I called and asked for a couple and they told me I had to come down and get them!

I was there for four nights (at a cost of just under $1000.00) and housekeeping never entered my room. During the days I was there I noticed some of the same trash in the elevators and around the floors remained there for 2 or more days. I wondered if they had any housekeeping at all. Others in our group had similar experiences (though without the undergarments in their dressers). In general the staff other than those serving our meals (buffet style) appeared uncaring and oftentimes rude.

The meals were barely edible. Everything was dry and/or overcooked. I understand that it can be difficult to serve a large number of people, but that's not an excuse for not being prepared.

I've stayed at this location on a number of prior occasions both for conventions and on business and I was looking forward to staying there again. I was sorely disappointed in what has happed to this hotel in the past two years. I'll likely never return.

While we received extremely positive comments throughout the conference from many participants as well as the organization, I am very sorry that your experience did not match that sentiment. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience. We are very proud of our staff overall and I assure you there was no change in ownership. Based on the price I paid for this Hotel I feel ripped off. I stayed in this hotel for four nights for an event at the hotel. Based on current prices online I would say the hotel jacked the price up to take advantage of the large number of guests expected. We were told that house keeping was only available every 3 days unless requested, well it was requested and not received. So I spent 5 days 4 nights on the property with no house keeping, to be honest never saw a house keeper in the hall way, requests for more towels and coffee went unanswered. They blame it on COVID, but really it looks like an attempt to maximize profit and shift the blame to COVID. I stayed a couple week before in a Holiday Inn Express and got housekeeping every day at 1/3 the price. At this point in the pandemic there is no excuse for this lack of service. This is one guest that won’t buy that excuse, cleaning a room or providing towels does not put your staff at risk. Let’s be real , the hotel management just does not want to hire back staff, and as long as guests keep buying the COVID excuses then they won’t.

The front desk staff was very un helpful when we requested anything as in towels or coffee( never got any) They were of no use when asking for help with local transportation / taxis around the area. Seems very few Uber or Lyft drivers so that was also an issue ( that’s not the hotels fault). At check in there were no staff to help with bags or help finding carts.

The public areas were very clean and well kept, kinda like lipstick on a pig, but that did not make up for lack of everything else that you would expect when paying a premium price. This was not the experience I expected when paying this kind of money for a hotel room.

The room over all was clean and presented well, at check in I had high hopes, only to be let down, could not leave fast enough.

I should have booked a hotel basically across the street and walked to my events at the hotel, could have cut my hotel bill in 1/2, and I bet gotten better service.

The irony of this review is I am just following the link that the hotel sent me asking about my stay. Carful what you wish for.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for your recent visit and for your commentary. We appreciate the insight. However, hotel rates for your event were negotiated with your group for a variety of reasons. We are not "hiding" behind Covid-19 procedures, but merely following established industry and CDC guidelines for hotels by providing full housekeeping services after three days. I am thoroughly sorry that your service was missed in this case, which should not have happened. Please accept my apologies for this error. Our hotel has hired staff back as quickly as possible in the current market circumstances and we are proud of our team. I trust we will see you again when your organization returns in 2023. We look forward to it. Stay well and stay safe. Martin van der Laan Vice President of Operations

We were really excited because we took our son and new daughter in law on this trip. They chose Louisville because of all the family things to do. I chose the Gault hotel because it had a great rating and because it had a large 2 bedroom suite with a very very large living space between the rooms and it overlooked the water. The hotel guaranteed us they followed Covid guidelines, that the rooms were cleaned very well, and promised it would be perfect. Well, it wasn’t. Not even close. People were not socially distanced in lobby as signs requested, hardly anybody wearing masks, and when we got into our not inexpensive suite, it was filthy. It did not look like it had been cleaned, swept, or mopped in months. There was food and something else stuck to the door of the refrigerator in the living area. Food left in refrigerator. The floor was filthy. There was also trash under the desk up against the baseboards. Dust all over the place and a red fingernail sitting in the rug which meant the rug had not been vacuumed. We spoke to two managers, the house keeping who both came up two different times and guaranteed somebody would come up and clean the whole suite . Never ever happened. Not in the four days we were there. We never saw a soul. My husband had to empty the garbage and placed it in the hallway every day because in that large suite there was one small garbage can. I ended up taking Clorox wipes and re-cleaning anything that could be touched and then got extra sheets to throw on the sofa and the chairs so that we could sit down without feeling like we were sitting in something we shouldn’t have. I took the Clorox wipes and wiped part of the floor. I did their staffs job. To sum it up, filthy hotel, non compliant Covid guidelines per their site as far as cleaning, and zero confidence in the hotel or management. No follow through.

Thank you for your review and your visit with us. I am so very sorry that we did not live up to your and our expectations. After the personal interaction this should have been corrected immediately. This hotel has an exemplary record in regards to following the CDC, State and industry standards when it comes to Covid-19. We are up-to-date with current standards. The guest rooms do not receive full service until after the third night stay, as per those standards and industry guidelines used by all major brands. Please accept my personal apologies for any inconvenience during your stay. I booked a room on a last minute notice, me and my girl love Louisville So much we decide to book another night. I was going to pay full price (193$) and would have if it wasn’t for the CSR ( Customers Service Representative) Roland. She suggested the lovers package ( 98$ for room, 50$ gift card for the hotels great restaurant and another 30$ gift card to the bourbon tasting bar in the hotel) I was so overwhelmed with her suggestion I offered her a cash tip and she refused! All she asked for was a positive review for her and the hotel. I don’t know who her manager is but anyone that puts her company first is an employee/ team member I would want working for me! My name is Jesse Rosas and I’m from Indianpolis and every time I return I will always book here even if I have to pay 300$ a night. They won my business but more importantly my heart.

This hotel was one of the most excellent experiences I have ever had while traveling. Checking in was a breeze, so being able to relax in my room as soon as possible was greatly appreciated. For lunch, Kenny served me delicious food and cocktails. At dinner time, I returned to the same bar and Angie and Rachel took fabulous care of me while also creating wonderful cocktails. I would highly recommend staying here for any amount of time!

So I normally don’t leave a review , but these people here at the Galt House were so nice and took care of everything and didn’t skip a beat. I called in advance and talked to Ricky and told him I was surprising my girlfriend with a getaway and he couldn’t have been happier. He recommended a lovers couple package. Gave me a number to the flowers company down the road. Instead of giving me a room he upgraded me to a suite for not much more cost! Really made a difference. He also recommended places to eat and explore downtown! Meanwhile he gave me Ericas number , she’s the kitchen manager here to call to setup the wine and rose pedals and even get some chocolate covered macaroons. She was the absolute best. I could communicate with her what I wanted to set up while I was driving up with my girlfriend to surprise her. She sent me pictures verifying the suite was all set up before arrival , she also ordered me food before the kitchen closed and had it delivered for me so we had something to eat after our long journey here. Erica and Ricky really made this trip unforgettable!

The overall shared spaces in the hotel were nice (restaurant, bar, lobby). Unfortunately, I booked a 2-bedroom suite for my family. Upon entering the room, we noticed the advertised pictures of an updated room were nothing like the room we were given. Also, both bedrooms included full-size beds but our booking included 1 king room and 1 queen bed room. When I let the front desk manager know of the mix up, she politely let me know there were no other rooms available and she offered me a (small) discount on the room and 2 breakfast vouchers. If I were to book this hotel again, I would follow up with a call to confirm the room type and not rely on the online pictures or descriptions. I was very disappointed with this stay overall as we had to spend very little time in our room due to uncleanliness and dangerous exposed pipes and mechanical areas.
