We stopped here for a stay on the way to Asheville. It was listed as a category 5. More like a 3. This was a great place in 1980. I generally as a rule stay in Courtyards so this should have been an upgrade but it was not. Room was fine its just the general exterior look as well as the lobby areas and parking lot need refreshed for sure.

This Marriott was one our favorites many years ago, so we returned expecting the best and were very disappointed. The hotel was in the midst of “a major renovation” (sorely needs I might add), which we were not made aware of when we booked. Our upgrade status was not honored as “all the balcony rooms or suites were either occupied or being renovated.” The balcony’s we saw were all in disrepair and filthy. We got a decent room, however, housekeeping had not properly cleaned the toilet under the rim (full of poop). We promptly reported that to the front desk and were assured it would be cleaned while we were out for dinner. Never happened- reported again, reassured again. Never happened. The second day we reported it a third time and it still never happened after a two day stay. Told them we were very upset by the lack of follow-through and expected at least an apology from Housekeeping if not some compensation. We were again assured as we left that the Housekeeping manager would contact us to discuss, which, of course, after three weeks has NOT happened. Suffice it to say, we will not be back again. I hope Marriott uppers see this review and will take serious action to recover this once fine resort.

Thank you so much for staying with us the Lexington Griffin Gate Marriott. At The Griffin Gate Golf resort and Spa we strive to allow guest to travel brilliantly. It appears we have failed in that mission. The cleanliness and condition you described is definitely not our standard and I apologize. We will pass your feedback on to our housekeeping team to address. We are in the early stages of undergoing a multi million dollar renovation and hope you give us a chance to serve you again. Best, Andrew Labetti Resort Manager

We needed a nice place for a business meeting, and this place gave us all the the professional details that we needed. The on site bar with good food is open for business. They also have golf on site. During Covid a lot of places are challenged to provide services and this place does a good job. I would come back to this location.

Originally had selected this hotel because it was a ‘category 5’ which is their highest level of standards. Was very disappointed to find that the hotel was very dated l, the room was small the bathroom ...could barely open and close the door due to being so tiny. All the furnishings were dated. We paid an upgraded fee to have views of the golf course but only had views of the roof which was ugly. This was a very disappointing visit for a Marriott.

I looked forward to this visit, but unfortunately this may be one of the worst Marriott’s I have visited. I was provided an upgrade upon check-in given my Bonvoy status. The upgrade was a concierge level room, which is frankly sad. The hotel room is dingy and out-dated. The air-conditioner doesn’t get cold enough. The toilet paper is the worst I have ever seen period. There are positives: TV size, cable selection, comfortable bed, and water pressure. The lobby is pretty, the grounds and golf course appear nicely groomed. The food is average banquet food. Given this is supposed to be an upper-end Marriott hotel, this is not up to par.
