Stayed here because it was a Hilton property and not a cookie cutter hotel. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Hotel is undergoing renovation and I obviously got a room that hadn’t been renovated. Lots of paint chips on the walls and the paint around the a/c had bubbled up badly from water leakage. Room was $148 a night with another $24 in various taxes. When we checked in, there was a wine glass and two water glasses on the ground just outside the door. It was 3 days before they were picked up. Had a buffet breakfast for $10. Denny’s was better. No fridge or microwave in rooms. Had a Keurig and great Wi-fi. Small cabinet between beds was the only place other than closet to put clothes in. Bathroom was small with limited space for toiletries. Only one person at a time could lay stuff out for use, then pack it away for next person to have space. Definitely not the quality I expect from Hilton. Nothing about the place would give me reason to come back again.

Hotel's Favorite
I stay in Lexington occasionally and decided to try the Campbell House. First thing when I arrived, the staff were friendly and professional. In the lobby I loved the rich wood, elegance and smell of history in a good way. There is an amazing botanical collection on the walls toward the back. Little touches like leather tiles on the hallway walls and again, rich wood tones had an understated elegance. My room was clean, fresh and updated but also had a nostalgic quality. It reminded me of an elegant room maybe in the 1940’s with some 21st century updates as appropriate. I actually forgot I was in a hotel and my room felt so comfortable and inviting. I had read some mixed reviews and decided to see for myself. There is something special when you walk in and you feel like you become a part of the building and story. I know it sounds kind of silly, but I stay in hotels all of the time and they almost always feel like a hotel. This place just has that, “ je ne sais quoi“ and definitely has a story. If you are one that really likes all of the bells and whistles of a modern room, this is probably not the place for you. If you appreciate historical buildings and what they represent, this may be a sweet surprise in your journeys.

Thanks for the feedback. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We will be doing some upgrades to the guest Rooms later this year. Larger TV's, more outlets, and better lighting, but we will be sure to maintain the current Character and Feel of the Guest Rooms. The Campbell House opened in 1951, and is the oldest continually operating Hotel in Central Kentucky and we are proud of our History. Hope to see you again soon.

We drive from VA to MO every summer, and our two-week vacation in MO would not be complete without a stop at the Campbell House. The staff is wonderful, but there is just something about the elegance and the charm of this hotel. We absolutely love it. It is in in a great location - just a 10 minute Lyft ride to downtown. We can't wait to come back next summer and see the progress on their additions!

Stayed one nite in this marvelous old hotel. I was there last year and now it is changing and rebuilding bar and restaurant. So while the bar and restaurant was closed, the staff set up a walk up bar and dinning in the lobby. Drink and menu were limited but certainly adequate. I enjoyed seating just outside on the veranda / entrance sipping an excellent martini reading and chatting with other quests. The best part was the staff. As expected very attentive and friendly. I'd visit again especially with the completion of new facilities. Only 4 stars as the lack of bar and restaurant does ding the review slightly.

Room has bugs! And is not updated .. like website photos show! ...and should be more priced in the $60 hotel range!! Not $180+...very old in the rooms , run down feel , dirty and grungy! Beds were comfortable but after bug was in one that experience was ruined! Yuck!... and front desk staff greeted us while on their smoke break in front of entrance to hotel! And rudely checked me in.. forgot to mention the construction zone in back of dimly lit up hotel parking lot in a not safe looking area...we had to walk through that mess with no luggage cart and with toddlers to our room! The hotel seems like it’s in a spacious grand area and upscale, but it’s sandwiched in between hospitals and gas stations and needs a major face lift!! The only nice thing was the horse statue out front! :(... Also huge note.. that staff won’t tell you.. or the night staff at least.. the doors in back are closed for construction at 10 and their check out is 11... and so be prepared to walk a mile with all your stuff and family to get to your car parked out back with construction workers who block you in and act irritated because you make them stop working and move their truck! So that was another awesome bonus to our experience of this awful hotel!! :(...don’t stay here!
