The couple that run the motel are friendly and we really don’t want to hurt their business, but we don’t want anyone going through the night we had last night. Needless to say, we didn’t get any sleep due to bed bugs.

Paul's is NOT a 5 star hotel. It is run by a senior couple who struggle to get everything done that needs to be done. On the night of my arrival, it was very cold. No heat in the room and none when I turned the heater on. Turns out, a breaker had been thrown. It took about 30 minutes to get heat. A little frustrating, but I like the senior couple that run the place. They are down home people who do the best they can. The price is very low, and it is the only decent place to stay in Jackson.

Paul's was clean and comfortable! So much better than we expected. The staff works hard to keep this old little hotel nice and comfortable. The pizza place across the street has affordable and very good food and service and it also owned by Paul.

Pauls is one of the most endearing places I've visited. Freeman, the owner, will talk with you, introduce his cats and offer you friendship. The rooms are older but clean with homemade quilts. Chairs outside the door invite you to sit a spell & get to know your fellow travelers. In a hectic world this is a magical place. There is a pizza place across the street run by family with reasonably priced food. Its there you get your morning coffee & sweet rolls then head back & sit on the porch. We visit family & have stayed at the chain motels in Hazard but Pauls has them beat for price, cleanliness and charm. Plus there is an indoor pool.

I was apprehensive to stay here because I am not a motel kind of traveler. This place is a throw back to what traveling must have been before all the super chains opened. A man and his wife who have been running the place for 60 years. Cutest little man ever. Very sweet and friendly. I believe someone mentioned cats all around in another post and that is true. What they failed to mention is that Paul and his wife have personally paid to have each cat vetted and feed them every day. It was no inconvenience to me to see them laying around in the halls and their little warm houses they'd made for them, in fact, I think their huge hearts just make me want to come back again!! Our room was clean and fresh and had everything we needed. It's not fancy or large. But adequate and warm and cozy. Parking area is safe and well lit. I'm so glad that I didn't talk myself out of staying here because I'm a hotel snob. If you're in the area and need a place to stay, don't hesitate!
