We visited Shaker village for a weekend day trip. It is a quaint place where you can step back to a simpler time. There are several original dwellings, some of which can be rented for lodging. There is a small farm, a wagon ride and a paddle boat ride (both of which are an extra fee). They have a lot... More

Once again Shaker Village proved to be a wonderful place for a weekend getaway! We were grandparents, parents and two children who were all happy to be spending a rainy weekend at Shakertown! What better place to walk in the rain and puddle jump! And the gathering rooms in different buildings are great for family game night! Sleeping rooms are... More

We stayed in the East Family Dwelling on the 3rd (top) floor. You definitely get the historic feel, but you also still get modern conveniences. If you have someone in your group who can't do stairs, this isn't your place. Even if you stay on the lower floor, you'll have to go up steps to the main entrance. You also... More

20 miles from Lexington and about 10 miles from Harrodsburg ky out on route 68 is the site of the shaker village which flourished in the 1800s . The grounds are beautiful and the buildings realistic and period preserved. Well done from top to bottom, a must see if you are nearby

The suite was a wonderful space for the 6 of us friends to stay and visit. It has 3 double beds, and and a nice sitting area. It came with a small refrigerator, microwave and a Kuerig coffee machine. The grounds were fun to visit, and taking in a Bourbon tour was easy from there, they pick you up. We... More

Shaker Village in Kentucky was established by the Shaker sect in the early 1800s and was very advanced for its time. After falling into disrepair in the 1920s local efforts were made to restore the 3000 acre property. A guided tour will cover the Shaker philosophy and how this resulted in a unique community. A guided walking tour is available... More

We have been to Shaker Village several other times and found it to be quiet and peaceful, which is what were looking for this trip. We stayed in the East Sisters building and had a "suite", basically 2 small connecting which was perfect for us. The rooms were immaculate and appeared to have been recently renovated. No flat pillows here!... More

My sister and I recently visited Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, KY and spent 2 nights in the East Family Dwelling. Visiting the Village is like stepping back to the time of the Shakers in Kentucky. Be sure to visit the Museum showcasing their furniture, clothing and lifestyle. At the Meeting House you can see a presentation of Shaker dancing.... More

We took three kids, twelve and under and had a hard time keeping them entertained. Most of the talks and lectures were geared more for adults. Sometimes there were multiple presentations at once so you had to pick between them, but it was educational and the staff was nice.

I remember visiting lovely Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill as a kid in the early 1970s; I especially liked staying in their trundle bed. Well, the trundle beds are no more (the maids were hurting their backs when they pulled them out to make them), but it's still an outstanding venue for families. Our family of four (two adults and...
