We had a great stay at Maya Ubud, the hotel well maintained and great hospitality service from the staff. It would be nice to have more varieties of food for breakfast. And pay extra attention for housekeeping when we requested to cover with extra curtain for clear window between room and bathroom, we have to called twice, it takes over 3 hours to put the curtain to cover the window (the wood blind still can see inside the bathroom). However, we would come back here at Maya Ubud for our next trip.
A very beautiful premise, surrounded by lush trees and amazing river. However, it can be seen that the property is aging and the staff are mostly seniors. Not the kind of service you can expect in a 5-star hotel, by all means they staff are friendly and hospitable but nothing special in particular. The room itself is spacious and clean, but the pillows can be improved. They're lacking in volume - all pillows are very soft ,that I didn't manage to get a good night sleep. The walls are somewhat thin, I can hear activities in the next room. All in all, I was amazed by the 2 swimming pool, the river view and jungle view. Made me feel like transported into another world. Thumbs up for the complimentary services such as yoga, pilates, rice paddy walk and afternoon tea.
When we booked this hotel, we had expectations of a 5 star hotel in terms of quality of service and facilities. When we checked in and had a short tour, boy we were surprised. Only 1 restaurant is opened for bfast with poor protocol (the guests were serving themselves food from the buffet area without wearing masks and the staff were just standing there not saying or doing anything). Usually during the pandemic situations, 5 star hotels would ask the guests to order food from the menu for health and safety. The bar didn’t really have much variety of snacks or nibbles to accompany our afternoon drinks. My mojito was delicious though. The staff were very friendly too. Our room was beautiful.. I expected a bigger size villa for a 2 bedroom unit.. but it was still nice. We have our own private swimming pool and jacuzzi which the kids enjoyed. The view was beautiful lush green of the forest. In the morning we’d have some suprise visit from the monkeys (make sure you don’t leave anything outside at night if you still want to see them the next day). Housekeeping was another story though, it was not done cleanly and thoroughly. The toilets were still dirty and smelly, the water taps still had stains on them, the dirty drinking glasses were not cleared out, the cloth and mop they used to clean the room was smelly so after they left there was a lingering stale smell that I had to open the doors to air the room 😓 the floor was still dirty because when i wiped the wet floor with the white floor mat, it was black There are 2 big swimming pools in the complex.. we only used 1 because the other one which is near the river is closed (such a pity, it would have been so nice to swim there with a beautiful view of the river). The 25m lap pool was nice and clean with a pretty view of the forest. There’s 1 lifeguard on duty but don’t expect to have anyone to serve you for nice drinks or snacks by the pool like in any other 5 star resorts.. there weren’t any. We understand with the pandemic it has been such a challenge to maintain the resort. You may simplify the menu or reduce the number of staff on duty, but NOT the quality of service. This is the hospitality industry afterall. We expected a 5 star service from a 5 star rated resort. We didn’t get that at the end. I hope after the pandemic end, this resort can return to it’s former glory. Such a shame when other resorts still manage to sustain their services, but Maya is losing it.…
Superb service from all the staffs. Room very clean, spacious, very good design, love the view from the balcony. Every parts of this hotel are instagramable : The lobby entrance, Resto sun deck, both swimming pools, all the way from rooms to the riverside pool so awesome, can't stop taking photos. Foods are delicious, superb afternoon tea. So close to main attractions and best restaurant at Ubud. definitely will comeback with the family..
MAYA is a brand for real balinese hospitality. Staffs are friendly and very attentive making sure all our needs are fulfilled. Really feel a warm welcome here ❤️ The hotel has a HUGE area, more than 10 ha, with many in-house activities and interesting spots to be explored. I tried walking forest with Mr Duita, very much enjoy it since he is very knowledgeable and also patient. And also don’t forget to try their famous riverside SPA. I was lucky coming there when they have a black Friday deal. The building is quite old, yet still well-maintained and clean. Large bed with very comfy pillows. My only concern is the dental-kit quality, hopefully can provide a better one next time. Surely will come back someday in the future, hopefully soon 👌🏼
