Hotel Covington embodies the transformation of a celebrated, century-old downtown building into a modern luxury hotel. Hotel Covington will appeal to business and leisure travelers accustomed to upscale hotels in primary markets seeking an authentic and locally influenced experience. The hotel draws inspiration from the local culture and cultivates a following through a sense of civic pride and exciting food & beverage. Hotel Covington will pull inspiration from its northern and southern sisters, but a cohesive mix of styles will ultimately lend individuality. A story will be told through regional and local sourcing, and will become the pulse of Covington and beyond: unique yet comfortable, casual yet refined, and timeless yet evolving. By reimagining the historically designated Coppin's Department Store, which was open from 1910 to 1977, into a 114-room hotel, this significant project is certain to become the springboard for development in Covington's downtown business district and will deliver urban renewal South of the riverfront developments.

Detailed Reviews
I highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding customer service from booking, checking-in, during stay, dining, and checking-out. The two rooms were on the North Side and were very well designed with taste (not budget style taste) and comfort of a five star hotel. Quite an attractive hotel. The hotel provides complimentary airport transportation round trip in a Mercedes Benz SUV.
The beds were comfortable (not firm nor soft) and bathroom elements were of special quality (not drugstore taste).
My thanks to the managers and team members: Brenda, Allyssa, Ryan, Chase, and other staff members including housekeeping. A special acknowledgment to Emma at Coppin Restaurant for her welcoming manner, efficient and thoughtful attention, suggestions and professional demeanor.
We had the best breakfast, brunch, and dinner at Coppin for its quality, presentation, and tasty healthy foods.
Not all hotels are perfect and if there is a negative aspect, I don’t remember as there were many good things to make our almost four days stay enjoyable and comfortable. The fitness center needs updating. I also wish there was a pool. Other than these two aspects, everything else was wonderful.

Hotel's Favorite
We made an impromptu trip last weekend. We first were there in 2021 and loved everything about the hotel. But now it’s even better.
They’ve added the new building “North” which is phenomenal. The room was spacious, spotless and stunning. As we entered the room Christmas music was playing from the radio on the nightstand. Such a nice touch. The properties were beautifully decorated for Christmas which was so festive and enriched our stay.
We had drinks in the downstairs bar and it was an exceptional experience. I even asked for a special accommodation drink. I showed the bartender a drink with ingredients and asked if he could make it & he didn’t hesitate and whipped it right up for me.
Everything about the experience was outstanding. We enjoyed the surrounding area as it has really grown up with many options of restaurants & bars. The area felt safe and very trendy. We also traveled with our small dog. It was so nice to know he was welcomed in such a beautiful property.
Thank you! We will be back!

We live in West Chester (Cincinnati) and were invited to a wedding here. We took the opportunity to stay at this boutique-ish hotel. Our room was just lovely. The ceilings are high and the long curtains and wall colors are rich (think deep reds, purples, and blues). The bedding is comfortable, although the pillows are way too squishy. I was glad there were four pillows on each bed, because I used all of them for support. The bathroom was roomy and modern. There was no make-up mirror, which is unfortunate for us 50+ year-olds. There are a lot of weddings at this hotel and I'm sure most patrons would appreciate one. The lobby is inviting and has plenty of seating, but it is very loud. We could hardly hear to check in, and it stayed loud throughout the night and at brunch the next morning. The energy is good though, and we would stay again for another event. If you are visiting the cute area of Covington, this is your hotel. It is close to everything.

Booked this because of the excellent reviews but was actually very disappointed in my one night stay. First impressions were great, lobby and room are beautiful and mini bar was well stocked. However, after falling asleep around 11 PM, my door was loudly banged on several times. I woke up, got dressed, and by the time I got to the door they were gone. I went back to bed only to have this happen 3 times in total. By this time it was around midnight my room phone was called 4 times, when I finally answered they said it was the front desk doing a “wellness check because they had reports of running water near my room”. I told them I had no running water and no leaks, and then they just said “okay thanks” and hung up. To top it all off, I paid extra for valet parking, and when I went to checkout and retrieve my car, I was told “We parked your car down the street” then handed me my keys and gave me directions where to walk to about a 1/4 mile to my car. Not a big deal but you can’t really charge $20 a night for valet if you don’t actually valet the car. Adding insult to injury, I was charged $12 extra a few days later for room charges even though I didn’t take anything from the minibar. Wasn’t even worth the effort to fight them on this. I visit Cincinnnati several times a year but will not be back here.

Dear garrettc450 First and foremost, thank you for sharing your experience regarding your stay at Hotel Covington. I do apologize for disturbing your evening with our "wellness checks". We performed this check after a very noticeable water leak was coming from the hotel lobby underneath your guestroom. Our policy is to contact our guests when a concern for safety or possible damage to hotel assests occur. After several attempts to contact your guestroom phone, we determined that going to your room was the best course of action. It was noted that after contacting you, the water leak did cease. In regards to your valet experience, your vehicle was parked on the valet lane at our 7th street entrance per your request to keep the car close. Our typical policy is to park all vehicles in our own garage that is directly behind the hotel, separated by an alley, and not a 1/4 mile away. I have also checked your account to ensure that any addtional charges for minibar were removed, which they had. Though it is disappointing to see this 1-Star review, please know that we made these multiple attempts to reach out in your best interest and other guests located in our lobby. I do hope that you may consider us for another stay in the future. Sincerely, Justin H. - General Manager

This was our second stay here and it did not disappoint!! A fantastic change of pace! EXCELLENT rooms, cleanliness, comport and service……..In our post quarantine world we have all probably experienced businesses that are short staffed and the employees that do show up are overworked and disgruntled on a regular basis and maybe like me you had adjusted your expectations for service oriented experiences but HC was a refreshing throw back to how good things can still be!
Jonathon at the front desk was absolutely amazing!!! He was a bottomless resource of information about the hotel and was anticipating our needs before we had to ask. When we were done he ran to help with bell hop services and then back to concierge then back to front desk and never stopped smiling and providing truly above and beyond service all while thriving on the busy-mess of it all. Jonathon and our experience at HC restores my hope for the economy and future of America. People do actually care about their jobs!!!!!

My wife and I recently took a business trip to Cincinnati, and opted to stay a night at Hotel Covington. We had no real expectations, as we had never been to either Cincinnati or Covington. The imagery on their website was very descriptive, so that's why we booked. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by a friendly valet, and the desk team was awesome. Everyone we met on staff was genuinely friendly in an authentic way. The room was beautiful. Being that it was Coppin's Department store, an historic site, the owners did a fantastic job of retaining original architecture with modern, tasteful appointments. The lobby and restaurant design are also beautifully done. We then booked dinner, and were pretty blown away by the meal. We have traveled the world, and lived in Portland, Oregon for over 20 years, so we've had our fair share of good dining experiences. But Coppins? Exceptional. Perfect service, well prepared and well presented dishes, in the perfect portions. Great wine and spirits list, and the environment was comfortable and very well designed. Breakfast the next morning was also perfect, down to the smallest detail. They even take the time to quenelle a soft boiled egg. So if you're looking for a premium, thoughtful experience in a hotel in the Cincinnati area, we couldn't recommend Hotel Covington enough. You won't be disappointed.

Lobby and, bar and restaurant were frigid and very uncomfortable. I tried 3 times to get your shuttle from the airport 1 and 2 days in advance and was given 3 different answers to book. I had to take a cab from the airport and it cost $51. We had breakfast one morning in the restaurant and despite only 3 other people in there, our food took way too Lon to be served and it was cold. Room was nice but no closet.Way over priced.

We stayed at Hotel Covington for a family wedding. Our room was not made available to us until after 6:pm, which was after the start of the wedding. It wouldn’t have a significant issue, but the front desk kept indicating the room would be available in 15 minutes. This occurred at 4:, 4:15, and 4:30. When it became clear that the room was not going to be ready in the near term and after several encouragements to provide a solution, they finally offered the use of a basement bathroom, which was being used by other guests, so wasn’t actually an option. We finally got access to a small room so we could prepare for the wedding. The front desk deferred any discussion of a discount as no managers were present. We were told we would receive a call the day after check-out, but no call was received. Very disappointing. We won’t stay here in the future.

The hotel is decorated nicely, one of the reasons I picked it. However, the level of customer service and hospitality for this standard of hotel is severely lacking. There is no warmness, welcoming or genuineness in service from front desk, bar, room service, housekeeping, to management. I had complained about several items and all management had to say was, I'm sorry you feel that way, no acknowledgment. In fairness, they did give me $20 back for the restaurant. The reason I complained about the restaurant was because I got a croque which was basically just fancy bread there were a few scraps of ham and cheese, a tasteless bechamel and one small egg. The champagne in the Mimosa was so bad that I couldn't drink it. On a good note, the fresh squeezed orange juice was good. If you're looking for a luxury getaway to be pampered and spoiled, I'm not sure this is the place.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Covington the night of our wedding in the midst of COVID-19. Our room was SO clean and since the staff on duty knew we were coming from our wedding, they had our room lights dimmed and music playing upon our arrival. Room service the next morning for breakfast was delivered to us super fast and was absolutely delicious. It was the little things that made our stay so perfect and it was the most amazing way to spend our first night as husband and wife! We can’t wait to stay at Hotel Covington on our first anniversary!

About a 10 minute walk to the Roebling Bridge and 20 minutes to the ballpark. The hotel faces East/west, so no river view unless on the very top floors.
THE Ark Encounter is about 40 minute drive from Covington. regarding the shuttle, I don't recall a shuttle but you can easily walk toward the riverfront and perhaps catch the southbank shuttle to the stadiums. Suggest you google southbank shuttle
Parking in our nearby garage is $10 per night for self parking, billed at each entry and exit or $12 for overnight valet parking with unlimited in & out privileges. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
I don't think the hotel offers, but I'm sure you could uber there for under $10.
If you're fit and up to it, it's probably 12-15 city blocks from the hotel across the beautiful and historic Roebling bridge over the Ohio River to the ballpark, but you'll enjoy the mostly level walk with scores of others headed to the game. I lived in Covington for years and would not describe Madison Avenue back to the hotel after dark as "completely safe" but less risky than many other urban zones. Alone okay if you're male but best to have the buddy system at a minimum.
