We had a fantastic experience here! We were greeted by the owner, who sat us down to give us a brief overview of the motel and told us about the events for the evening. The "room" was very clean and a meticulous attempt has been made to preserve some of the motel's original details and furnishings.
One of my very favorite things about the motel was how it was situated: in a large semi-circle with a basin/valley that had playground equipment. As children do, my son quickly made friends, and spent the evening running around with them, the setup allowing me to have eyes on him at all times. This helped to strengthen the feelings of the "good ole' days, as did the fire that was started in the communal fire pit later in the evening. It was apparent that each visitor to the motel was there to experience a piece of the past, and I enjoyed the opportunity to be transported to a different time in history , if only for a night.

This was such a fun experience! Cave City does not have a lot of options when it comes to lodging and when we stumbled upon this place online, my husband and I immediately wanted the experience! Keith was very knowledgeable about the history and his passion for restoring the place to its glory days is evident. The information book in the room was comprehensive and provided a lot of important and unique information. The playground equipment is well maintained and the fire pit is fabulous. We met many of our neighbors and enjoyed the evening visiting and getting to know each other. That was initially one of the main purposes- to foster community. Please take the time to attend the nightly fire- you won't regret it. The rooms are simple but very cozy. They have air conditioning, a heater, shower, toiletries, extra blankets, free WiFi, and a TV. The beds are a little small, so if you are not used to sharing a full size bed, I would recommend the two bed "wigwam". Additionally, there is no hair dryer on site, so if that is something you need/want, you will need to bring your own. It can also get very light inside, as the curtains are not dark/thick like an average hotel. If you are a light sleeper, you may want an eye mask or something. Please know they are ACTIVELY restoring the wigwams; they are not perfect, inside or out. However, the stay is worth any minor inconvenience you may experience. I would definitely stay here again and I look forward to returning and seeing the progress that is made in the restorations! My family is so jealous and now they want a chance to stay here too!

My husband took his school band on a spring trip to Cave City . We had been to Wigwam Village twice in years past . This time he rented all the wigwams. It is under new management . Besides being cute , the wigwams are now comfortable. They have new paint , new bathroom sink , new shower heads, new mattresses ( very comfortable ), new air conditioning , TV's and wifi . New chairs to sit outside in front of your wigwam . New firepit - with a bonfire for us. He even gave us a talk about the history . These were the original wigwam hotels , built in 1936 on the Dixie Highway . We had a fantastic time. Consider this if you have a group that wants to get away , or if you just want to take a fun road trip.

My husband and I were looking into going to the nearby Mammoth Cave national park and I found this hotel while searching for a place to stay. We spoke with Keith who owns this hotel along with his spouse as of November of 2020. He gave us a brief history. They live on the park premises. They have been gradually remodeling the hotel. They also had a bonfire with all the guests which my husband and I skipped because we were both exhausted. It was very quiet with the only noise being the occasional train whistles. The bed was comfortable. The hot water ran out quickly. Some of the electrical outlets did not work. Cellphone service did not work in the restroom but did work in the rest of the room which I found very odd. They try to keep the wigwam as original to 1937 as possible with the style of furniture. There was a window air conditioner which worked well. They have lots of outdoorsy things including grills, picnic tables and playground equipment. There is a lot of nearby restaurants and things to do.

Stopped to see if we could book a room around noon. Manager/owner came out and pointed at the no vacancy sign next to the door. We had seen the sign, but it is perfectly reasonable that at noon, it may not be accurate. Guy had a TERRIBLE attitude. After I backed out of the area in front of office, my wife wanted to take a picture of the wigwam, so I pulled a few feet forward to get between two of them. The guy comes running, screaming and pointing at a sign that says $20 to drive around the 100 yard loop behind the structures. No way I'm paying that for a 30 second drive, and I wasn't interested anyway. She just wanted a picture from where we were.

We stopped with the intention of possibly staying the night, but I will NEVER stop again and would NEVER recommend to anyone. This owner/manager needs a lesson in people skills. Complete jerk!

For purposes of clarity, you had already driven beyond the sign that said only guests are allowed to drive through on this private property. Our paying guests do not want to be gawked at by random people, and they have told us so. We are sorry you cannot follow rules.

The current owners purchased the complex back in 2020. It was originally built in 1937and their goal is to return it back to those days with some modern upgrades. From speaking with the current owner the property was in poor condition when it was purchased and they closed down for several months to get the rooms back to where folks could stay in them again. He explained to us that both of them have architectural backgrounds and they look at this as a historical preservation project. Their goal is to keep the history of it intact for future generations to enjoy. Also keep in mind that restorations are still ongoing and probably will be for the next several years. So it will be constantly changing and improving over that time. Keep this in mind when reading older reviews. As with anything of this nature it takes time, patience, attention to detail and lots of money to restore. If you don't appreciate the past or what they are trying to do and you want a modern or luxury hotel, find somewhere else to stay. If you want something nostalgic and unique, then look no further and book your room! Rooms were cozy, very pleasant and clean during our stay 3/11-3/13/2023.

They have a campfire each night in the center of the complex to encourage you to meet your neighbors and it certainly worked during our stay, we met some great folks that we otherwise would not have had the opportunity to meet. This is keeping the tradition started by the original creator of the complex and they are continuing that. It was truly a unique place to stay and we plan on returning.

The new owners purchased the place in late 2020 and have really gone to work. They are renovating each wigwam 1 by 1 and now have 7 open. It has everything you'd expect; crisp linens, hot showers and great wifi but there's a fabulous community vibe to go along with it. That's honestly what grabbed me the most. You can tell they really care about offering the best possible experience and a number of families enjoyed some stars and time by the fire together after the sunset. Mammoth Cave is a short drive away and Ice Cream is a short walk. A stay here was truly unique and made our trip!

Two seniors add extra large dog, we were driving from Ohio to Texas and this was our first stop what a treat, they allowed us to have our 150 pound English mastiff right with us. She loved it we all did, very very calm and peaceful relaxing you walk outside your TP to a common grassy area where you could have a bonfire we had no small children but they could’ve run wild! You can park right next to your TP so it’s easy to get your stuff taken around inside surprisingly charming. Very clean the bathroom was just sparkling the beds were comfortable we were in a double the pillows were even great. And it was nice to be able to take Annabel outside easily for a night potty break. We really enjoyed our stay was the only one night September 12, 2021 but we plan on coming back when we return to Ohio this is really a must stop

Keith the owner was lovely. Very welcoming and inclusive. He is really doing his best to bring back Wigwam Village.
I would suggest he mows the grass more often... and he's putting a lot of effort into the Wigwams... but it does seem like "The Office" could use some TLC as well.

They are renovating two of the wigwams currently and the facelift is quite noticeable.

It was really cool to stay here. We probably wouldn't stay here again as my kids love pools and my husband loves a spacious room with a big comfy bed. However, I'm really glad we came.

There is a playground, open grass and bonfire area to be enjoyed. My kids loved it and enjoyed playing kickball with other kids that were staying there, too. There were also two seats in front of each wigwam, so my husband sat there and watched the kids play.

I enjoyed the nostalgia of it. Keith is attempting to keep it in it's original form. Which is a great idea.
My suggestion would be to buy bed skirts so that you can't see how old the mattresses are. When you sat on one side of it, the other side popped up and you could feel the springs. I slept well, but the other members of my family did not.

The shower was larger than it appeared.

I wish their would be a box of Kleenex in each room.

The air conditioner in the window cooled it down well and the temperature was perfect.

The blanket on the bed was very soft.

The town of Cave City looks a little "rough". Not necessarily scary, just old.... so I do think that WigWam Village is the best option of places to stay.

Again, I overall enjoyed the once in a lifetime experience.

Always looking for an Unique Adventure, my hubby and I stayed here on our way south.
I just happened upon this historic hotel looking for places to stay on our route.I highly recommend this hotel.!! Super clean, 1930's interior but with AC/heat, cable and internet! The owners have done a great job with restoration but are not finished with all the rooms yet. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated in a porch area to hear a bit about the property history and given tips on where to eat dinner and breakfast nearby. At dusk, he set up a large fire pit and we met several of our "neighbors". An assortment of classic playground equipment is in the center of the property as well as a Cornhole game. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!!
