We loved our stay at Bananas. There is such a family vibe here, everyone gets together every night to have dinner together and it’s just lovely ❤️ The food was AMAZING and INCREDIBLE for vegetarians/vegans (the owner himself is vegan). The view is beautiful, better than any 5* hotel I’ve been and it’s ALL FOR YOU! it’s so quiet and tranquil, we all watched the sunset together every night. This place is great if you want to have a few days to relax as there aren’t really any restaurants or things to do close by. Also, they don’t have sun loungers, just hammocks and picnic chairs, so catching a tan isn’t as easy! You can kayak to the islands close by which is cool!
This was an amazing place to relax and unwind after a busy 3 weeks exploring Thailand. My daughter and I stayed 3 nights and met some wonderful people here. Olli was an incredible host...very welcoming and entertaining. Pablo and Sinan who were volunteering there were also incredible as were all the staff. The food is family style at night for 150 baht and was delicious. Sunsets were beautiful! We wandered over to Le Passé-Temps hotel and enjoyed lunch and their resort on the beach as well. Thank you Olli and team! Jan and Hannah from Canada
I wanted a very special experience for my 31st birthday and this place did not let me down. Amazing food (vegan friendly if preferred), friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. We took out a kajak for a few hours, we enjoyed a great massage and had amazing food. The accommodation itself was very satisfying. It gets cleaned every day and it's very spacious. We stayed for three very relaxing nights. This place is perfect if you want a break from a busy holiday 😎 Take note: There is nothing else nearby. Not even an ATM. Therefore you can only eat and drink at the restaurant. Meals are very affordable - great value for money. And the most important thing: you pay all food and drinks when you check out. You can pay with PayPal or cash only. So plan ahead and enjoy every moment. …
Angie and I were part of a Family Expedition to the Krabi area and the team used Bananas as a base. It is run by a cheerful German, Oli, and his team. Accommodation consists of one room bungalows, with an adequate number of power points, and separate efficient showers and toilets. There is a rinsing tap by the bungalow verandah and hammocks for chilling out. A short pier through the mangroves leads to the beach. The sea is shallow here, even at high tide. You can hire kayaks cheaply and we did some exploration of the local islands. There are small cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Olli has quite a menagerie including a number of small friendly dogs and a small aviary. There is a limited menu with an evening dinner. Wine and beer are available at a reasonable price.
The most peaceful and beautiful place to stay for 2 weeks as a base for adventures with friends and family. Olli is the most amazing host; calm and friendly to all with a passion for his pet dogs, birds, rabbits, etc. The bungalows are simple, comfortable, clean and charming with plants leafing in between. Mangroves hide the spectacular sunset beach (with swing!). Food was a mixture of western and thai choice, all delicious.
We came to this place for one night because we wanted a cheap stay in the near of the kayaking... we stayed a week... no more words needed I think 😁 by far the best place in the neighborhood......... awesome
Loved it here! Close to Tha Lane, this property is the perfect place for rest and relaxation. There are no resorts nearby, no tourist shops or night markets. If you are looking for a party, this isn't really the place. Accommodations range from fan cooled bamboo huts with shared bathrooms to one's with private bathrooms. There are also concrete bungalows with fans or air con. Depends on what travel style you prefer. I went with the most basic accommodation in the bamboo hut (apprix 10 x 10) with shared washroom. Washrooms were cleaned daily and no shoe allowed, so they stayed clean. The hut itself was basic with a mattress on the floor, bottom sheet and blanket. You did not need more. There was also a cupboard unit for organization and a built in seat on the little front porch. My "bungalow" had a smell of must in one corner (it IS bamboo and humid conditions) but it wasn't that noticeable. A couple of cockroaches passed through but I was in a daily open air bamboo bungalow. I was not surprised or upset by this. It's Thailand. To avoid this, go for one of the concrete bungalows. They are also much larger. The property is lovely and well kept. The tides were against us and out most of the day and in at night. This worked in our favour though as we had lovely long walks on the sea floor, saw all kinds of marine life and were able to swim in the bioluminescent water late at night. As a bonus, the food here is AMAZING ! There was nothing on the menu that we did not like. A fresh cooked to order. The owner Olly runs and honesty tab. You write down everything you eat or drink, excursions you do etc. He adds it up each day and charges you at the end. System worked well for us. He has a fabulous book filled with local information, tours that are for Bananas guests only - so not overcrowded tours like in the other towns in the area, bus and ferry info etc. For us (3 friends), this was the perfect choice of accommodation, and met all our needs! Highly recommend!! …
If you are looking for a very special place away from tourists, come here! We had a lovely time, in the middle of raw nature and its also a good basecamp for moving around the province and look for adventure. Owner is a very nice person, food is to good and accomodation is perfect. We would definitely go back!
Our family of 4 stayed at Banana Bungalows for 2 night, we left this am and I’m sad to be leaving such a friendly, welcoming host and staff. Ollie and staff are attentive, friendly, welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. We stayed in the Deluxe bungalows with. Air conditioning, the accommodation was lovely laid out, well maintained. Thank you Ollie, staff and dogs. Hope to see you all again soon.
Bananas Bungalow is my happy place! Stunning views from the pier, surrounded by nature and the relaxing atmosphere is making this place to one of my favorites. Whether you wanna relax and having some off-time or doing some activities like kayaking, Island trip or exploring the area by motorbike, everything is possible and the staff is super helpful with getting everything organised. Depending on the tide you can go swimming or walking around with a view you cannot describe! You can choose between bamboo or stone bungalows, dormatory, private or shared bathroom, which makes it affordable for every budget. The menu has something of everything and the communal dinner with authentic thai food is the best I have eaten so far. During this family dinner, where all the guest come together, it´s easy to get in touch with the other. If you wanna go out for dinner, there are some places in walkable distance. I highly recommend this place and you if like being in the nature and spending some off time, you shouldn´t miss Bananas Bungalow!…
