The location was nice and close to the main part of town. The lobby was quite nice, making me excited to get to our room. The room was dated but I am keeping in mind they are trying to stay with a dated theme. The places missed in cleaning were the typical; baseboards especially behind bed, carpeting around the edges... The staff was wonderful, the beds was extremely comfortable, and the price was reasonable. My only minor complaint was the cleanliness of the bathroom and the pool. I do understand it is the end of the summer so they are getting ready to close it, but it had chucks of white stuff floating in it which looked like Styrofoam. This... More

The check in process was long - waiting for the clerk to finish a reservation on the phone and informing them of the upcoming Bourbon Festival. The first room that we were given, we could not get in (206). After finally both of us hitting the door, we were able to get in. We went back to the receptionist and... More

Upon arriving at the General Nelson Inn there was a line of people waiting to check in. There was just one person working and it took 20 minutes before we were dealt with. The check in experience wasn't particularly friendly and there was no apology for the wait! The room was a bit gloomy and dated. Maintenance was being undertaken... More

Really enjoyed our stay. Nice supporting a hotel that is not a chain. We stayed one night and decided to stay a second night. Great place while on the bourbon trail. Thanks for a nice fun stay! Great local restaurants.

I normally stay at Hilton family properties, but did not want to pay the over inflated price for the Bardstown Hampton Inn, and was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and comfortable. New towels, the normal hotel amenities….coffee, shampoo, soap, etc. True, the rooms and the designated breakfast area is not as updated as the Hampton, but, the breakfast... More

We had stayed at this hotel one other time two years ago. It was average then, but this time, I was unhappy and will not stay here again. The room was musty smelling. The ceiling was totally unacceptable in the bathroom - spotted with mold. The air condition ran loudly all night. The mattress was extremely soft. The breakfast was... More

The General Nelson is an old-style motel undergoing a lot of updating and construction and that takes away from some of its charm. The pool wasn't available, there was construction tape blocking off many areas and there was no pleasant outdoor space. The rooms are old looking and the furniture, baths and bedding dated. However, with all of that being... More

We made a quick 2 night trip to Bardstown to get away and do a little sightseeing. I made reservations at the General Nelson Inn due to its location. It was very close to all the main sights and attractions in Bardstown. The people were very nice and helpful. The room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. We... More

Decided to travel to Bourbon Country with no plans to spend the night, but I found this Inn. The front desk clerk was very friendly and a great host. The rooms were clean and comfortable as well as having breakfast provided for free. Overall a great place to spend a night while visiting several distillery.
