I stayed in a one room suite for 5 days. The bed was very comfortable, but the furnishings were old and dated - probably were originally bought in the 70s or 80s. The Inn caters to people there for extended stays. They didn't have an on-site gym, but would give you passes to a local gym. The breakfast in the morning was above average. It varied, but they had breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, and small croissants sliced with sausage in them, depending on the day. The evening hospitality consisted of Bud and Coors, with some heavy hors d'oeuvers. The only real negative, aside from the furnishings, was the shower. The hot water would run out after 10 minutes. Probably good enough for one person - not good enough for a couple. All together, if you can get a good discount, it's an OK place to stay.
Really enjoyed staying at Tall Grass! We were in Wichita for a doctor appointment. We choose this hotel due to it serving a full breakfast and close to the doctor office. The hotel is dated and needs some updating. Our room was nice. It was a suite with a kitchenette, living room with fire place, separate bedroom with large closet, dresser and two large windows. The place was clean!
I was given a WSU rate which seemed pretty good so I thought I'd stay here for parents weekend. Checked in late (about 10 pm). Was told I should drive out of the check-in parking lot and make two left turns and I'd be at my room. When I parked in front of the building I'd been assigned to, there was a brick wall about 4' high connecting the two ends of the U-shaped building. I had to walk in the small opening in the brick wall into a dimly lit courtyard area to get to my room. The door which I assume led to a maintenance or housekeeping room was directly in front of me as I entered the courtyard from the parking lot. This double metal door was all banged up with dents and scratches. My room was to the left of that. As I entered the room, I noticed a very musty smell. The carpet was very worn and the furniture was quite old. I thought turning on the AC would take away the smell but then I saw the AC vent was completely full of black mold - never did run the AC during my stay. Second trip out to the car and once again I saw the same two cars - driver's door to driver's door - in the parking lot near the next building down. Never was quite sure what activity was going on there. But upon leaving the room to return to get the rest of my things from the car, I realized there were two very creepy steel and concrete staircases at either end of the small courtyard - no lighting at all on these staircases and extremely dark under them. Once back inside my room, I went to close the draperies and looked out the window - absolutely no lights out the back of the building at all - just shaodows of bushes and trees. The track for the closet door was missing on the floor and the tile was all broken up where the track should have been. The only clean thing about this room was the bathroom which seemed to have been recently renovated. Breakfast the next morning was bacon bits (no piece of bacon in the entire pan was bigger than a fingertip), scrambled eggs with something unidentifiable in them (I think it was supposed to be a vegetable), waffles (premade that you warm in the toaster) and a variety of bread and bagels. Coffee was far from stellar. I checked out the next morning and went to the Homewood for only a few dollars more. Will never stay at the Inn at Tallgrass again
just now We are getting married this weekend. As a gift, one of our friends reserved a room for us for our wedding night. Last Sunday, I called and spoke to the young lady at the front desk. I told her about the reservation our friend had made and inquired about reserving additional nights for my fiance and I. I was given a price and told we could pay for our room when we checked in today. My fiance and I arrived today to pay for our additional nights and check in. The gentleman at the front desk had NO reservation for us beyond the one night our friend had purchased. We were told at that time that they would upgrade our room reservation for the same price we were originally quoted to accommodate us for their mistake. The room we were given was NOT an upgrade however. When I called the front desk to inquire, the gentleman told me we were given a room with two beds as our upgrade. I told him that I was standing in the room and I only saw one bed and wanted to know what about this room exactly was an upgrade. He put me on hold for a couple minutes, got back on the phone and said he was mistaken and that we were not given an upgraded room, that this was the room we had originally reserved. REALLY?! I told him that this room had no patio or balcony to smoke on and this was unacceptable. He said we could have an upgraded room for an additional upcharge, and that we should just smoke out the front door. I am livid with the atrocious and incompetent customer service we have received and I'm beyond disappointed that we recommended this hotel to our friends and family that needed a hotel to stay at for the wedding. NEVER AGAIN
Absolutely NO complaints for the night we stayed. Wonderful accommodations, friendly staff, fantastic breakfast. Would highly recommend to others for the price we paid. Only complaint would be this review process :-)

I don't remember the room number but it was directly in front of the few steps we went up in front where we we parked the car. The room was so spacious and lovely for what we paid. It could have been newly redecorated but don't really know. The front desk receptionist was friendly and accommodating. We just wish we had time to stay longer.
