We flew into Pine for a special event. The owners made efforts to pick us up, and decorated ahead of our visit. They went above and beyond to make our stay especially special. Additionally, they allowed us to use their Polaris side-by-side as a courtesy as we were without a vehicle. Overall we were treated especially well. For reference: We stayed in the cottage and it was a great place to stay.
My wife and I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts, but none any nicer than Hayhurst. The guest rooms are spectacularly decorated, and the common areas are magnificent. As stated in the title, it is well off your route, no matter where you are going. I guarantee you won't regret taking the time to enjoy this gem. Breakfast was delicious, and the inn keepers very gracious... Please don't pass this by.
I don’t usually write reviews but I felt like I needed to this time, to make people aware so they can make an informed decision and to encourage them to get a contract upfront to avoid very expensive surprises. First I would like to say, the facility was beautiful. That’s why the kids chose that place. However, with that being said, had we known then, what we know now, we would have chose to have had the wedding somewhere else. In July of 2020- we took a tour of the facility with the kids and Buzz. We told him that the kids wanted to have their wedding there and wanted to know what it would cost. We were given a brochure and given a price, was told at that time- everything was included. Great! This is what we budgeted for. Fast forward to a few months prior to the wedding- after invites had been sent out and the kids have their hearts set on this location, and there was no other venues to be had-We were now being told that the price they gave us only covered the venue and not the rooms. The rooms were separate making the total owed more than double what we were originally quoted. (The brochure they gave us specifically says “entire lodge rents for 1010.00/night and sleeps 20. The cottage rents separately & sleeps up to 8. We would love to be a part of your next family gathering/reunion, wedding or get away. “ ) Then the brides mom was informed that everything was extra, another not so great surprise. If they wanted lights hung, sheets hung, table clothes all this was going to be extra. We were also told we could come to the venue anytime on Friday. Then we were told not till afternoon. We showed up Friday afternoon hoping to decorate but we’re told we couldn’t decorate till sat ( do you know how much pressure this puts on everyone to get everything done prior to the wedding- forget enjoying your day!) saturday morning we show up to decorate and can’t because we have to wait for Buzz to string the lights( this could have and should have been done long before we got there) so now everything is rushed. The flyer that we were given had room prices on there that were not honored and we had to pay a whole lot more for each room. Buzz informed the brides mother that fake flower pedals were not acceptable and should have been real as the fake ones are not biodegradable and he was angry he has to sweep them up?! Debra was nice and helpful when we asked for things we had forgotten but I never felt like Buzz and Debra were on the same page about anything especially when it came to expenses. The kids said Buzz did take the charge off for hanging the lights for a wedding gift to them which was nice but we felt like it should have never been charged at all... You are only allowed up to 100 people at the wedding and the venue only has enough parking for 30 cars. If there’s more than 30 cars, you have to figure out how to get your guests from the parking lot at the T as you come into pine to the wedding- they do not accommodate for this. They do not set up tables, chairs, you will have to do all that yourself. If you rent the lodge rooms and the cottage- only the guests in the lodge will get served breakfast- the ones in the cottage will be charged extra for their breakfast or they can figure it out on their own. They were on us about every little thing being cleaned up. It’s sad that we were constantly on edge.. waiting to get yelled at for this or that, and now that’s it’s all over- wondering what else they are going to try and charge us for.. we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but as time went on, they just got worse. We wonder exactly what the venue fee included, because we were responsible for setting everything up, tearing it all down and all Of the clean up. It’s also unfortunate that they say you cannot bring your dogs but theirs are running around all over the place. I was a bit confused as to how they had a 5 star rating but after reading through them it makes sense. The 5 star ratings were given to previous owners and never taken down when these folks took over the business in 2019. This is not a clear reflection of how the business is now being run if you are only looking at the star rating. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there you have it! I wish this experience could have been better for everyone who was involved.…
Debra is someone that does not belong in the service industry. She belongs in a log cabin away from any children or people trying to have any fun. We rented the whole lodge and were awarded with constant micro-mgmt, high tension and after extra charges for some dirt on her towels and an email telling us to "choose wisely who we invite for the weekend." Our children were all well behaved, however the youngest was 3 and of course was excited to be playing with friends so we had to walk on eggshells with him due to her instructions. We were not allowed to have air mattresses for the kids as the adults filled the beds so they had to sleep on the floors. If you have younger children I would not even risk it with this facility. Trinity Hotsprings down the road much more hospitable and we will be taking the family there next time.…
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Hayhurst B n B. It was our first time there and we had a wonderful time! The wood work in the lodge is incredible, the lake view is spectacular, and Debra and Buzz went out of there way to make sure we had a very special weekend. We were thrilled to find a bucket of champagne in our room! We especially enjoyed the outdoor fire pit each evening. The breakfasts were fabulous and enjoyed on the beautiful patio. We look forward to future stays there! Keith and Melanie Hutchinson
My husband and I had never stayed here before, when a friend mentioned we should check it out. The rooms were very cozy, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast in the morning was also good. This place is very beautiful and attention to detail in the building of this place was evident. The views of the lake were very nice and tranquill. We hope to come and stay again sometime.
This is always our first road trip in the Slingshot {motorcycle} Denise and Gary have made us feel like part of the family every time. We have heard the B&B has sold and new owners will be take over next month. The Lodge is wonderful, but the two of them make the experience something special.
Gary and Dense are wonderful hosts. While the location is beautiful and the lodge is charming, Gary and Denise complete the package. The room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. Everything about our stay was perfect. We look forward to returning this fall to enjoy the autumn colors.
Our 3rd stay at this unique and relaxing site. The service is 5 star, the breakfast is so tasty, the setting is peaceful. You choose your level of activity with Idaho outdoors ranging from a book to major sporting. Totally recommend!!
Always great to spend a few days with Denise and Gary—they make you feel like family. The breakfasts are superb and dinners so tasty. The great room is a wonderful place to relax and share our riding stories with other guests. We’ll be back!
