This property has been undergoing improvement and renovation for over a year (we stayed a year ago) but is slowly getting better. Rooms are dated but roomy and fairly clean. The dining room has pretty much a full breakfast (even in Covid times) but the dining area is pretty big and you don't have to crowd in (waffles, biscuits/gravy, plus the normal toast and cereal, etc.) Staff is friendly and helpful. One of the biggest problems is still the parking lot - lots of potholes and, because it was raining heavily and water puddles everywhere we hit several of the bigger potholes (with a "thud"). If Asphalt is too expensive I would suggest just filling in with gravel In summary, still has a way to go but improved over a year ago.
Bed was comfy and that was a great relief. But it's extremely noisy as windows and doors need to be replaced and rooms face a highway. Very clean but bring your own supplies, even kleenex lacking. Carpet really needs cleaned. Nice breakfast of warm food, i.e., breakfast casserole and biscuits & gravy. Maybe when done with renovation it will be better?
We've stayed The Lodge the last three years after driving over 500 miles from Colorado. This is a formerly rather large motel that has a small percentage of its rooms open and seems to be undergoing construction every time we visit. The rooms have been clean and comfortable, however. Our visit this year was disappointing as the motel's ice machine was out of order and I had to get back in the car and drive to a convenience store to get some ice (just what I wanted to do) and, more surprisingly, there was no shower curtain in the bathroom. We were too tired to do anything about the shower curtain so we put some towels on the floor and showered anyway. I hope they get their act together as the choices for rooms in Russell is limited.
This hotel is undergoing a major renovation but staying open during the process. All things considered this should be a great place to stay when done. Our room was surprisingly nice and clean considering the circumstances and the king sized bed very comfortable. A nice touch is microwave and refrigerator complete with freezer. Offsetting that is construction stuff all over the property (replacing the 2nd floor walkway all the way around ). Breakfast was good and the dining area spacious. We’ll plan on coming again when it’s all done.
We stayed one night on our way to Colorado. The lobby was cleanish and the room was cleanish. The pool was empty and some construction looked like it was going on as a clear walk way was not available. We were only using this to sleep and arrived about 3am and were planning on leaving about 9. We wound up leaving early because about 5:45 am the dog in the next room started barking and would not stop. I called the front desk (very nice guy) who stated he'd call the tenants of the room. About 7:00 I called back to the front desk because the dog had still NOT stopped barking. He said he was unable to reach the people staying there. We showered and left. $70.00 for about 2 hours of sleep is way overpriced. I know the dog barking isn't their fault (exactly) but nothing was done to appease it either.…
