We had 2 rooms for our family, both Roma’s very dirty! Found things, kids toys, bracelet etc laying on floor in both rooms. The hallways are very dirty! We asked for cleaning services and were denied them! I even asked to check out and get money back and the desk staff refused. As I walked away she rolled her eyes and went back to her phone. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels, even this one in the past….NEVER AGAIN! The worst, please read other reviews I’m not the only one.

We are here on business and after viewing our room we went to the front desk to see if we could upgrade to the renovated rooms. We were told the renovated rooms aren’t open yet, so whoever is saying they are in their reviews are lying or the front desk clerk lied to us. The room we are in is extremely dated. Before we even made it in the room I noted the torn up walls and stained carpet in the hallway. The toilet is leaking, the shower is scuffed and stained. There is no fitted sheet on the old mattress which is covered by a absorbent urine pad. The box springs are in sight. The furniture is beat up. A friend went to take a shower in their room and the tub doesn’t drain. From the way our toilet flushes, I don’t have high hopes. The lobby is pretty but the rooms leave a ton to be desired. I would choose a different hotel until this is fully renovated. If it weren’t a company compensated trip, we would have switched hotels immediately. The only positive to the room is it looks okay clean, but even then, we did have food crumbs on the floor by the baseboard in our room.

Dear wildcats12181, Thank you for the detailed review and I am sorry you weren’t able to see our newly renovated rooms which we hope will be available in early September. Our original 4 floors that were renovated in 2017 are also part of the current renovation which is why none were available. Hope you can join us in the fall as our new rooms look amazing! I’m not one that is known to complain. I give praises where praises are due. I never take for granted amazing customer service. I wish this review was a positive one, but unfortunately for the Sheraton Convention Center in Overland Park, Kansas this is not a positive review. A few weeks ago my husband had pulled into the covered carport entrance of the Sheraton Convention Center. I had asked him to see if he could pick up some contact information, as we were considering the Sheraton as a potential venue for a personal event. There was a storm occurring at this time, and as my husband was sitting in his car getting ready to get out of his vehicle when a huge/heavy metal valet lock case flew into the passenger side of my husband’s mint condition early 2000s sports vehicle. The lock case had not been properly secured, although an attendant had said afterward that they hadn’t even had valet offered in over a year. The force of this case cause significant damage to the back fender, passenger side door and front of his vehicle. Immediately after the incident an attendant immediately apologized and told him that the hotels insurance would cover the damage and helped him fill out an accident report. My husband immediately followed up with them and was told they would likely NOT cover the damage as the “wind blew” the valet lock case into the car and thus making it an “act of God”. An unsecured risk, such as a heavy metal lock case on wheels sounds more like negligence than an “act of God” to me. If my husband had stepped out of his vehicle and crossed paths with this valet lock case would they still be denying the claim? This hotel doesn’t care about their guests or potential guest, nor their property. I recommend you look elsewhere when planning your trips and events in the Kansas City and Overland Park area.

I recently stayed at the Sheraton in Overland Park, I was excited to stay here again because I heard they renovated. I got a renovated room back in March, however this time around I asked for a renovated room, and was told it would be a $50 upcharge. SO I settled for an old room, the bed was hard and starting to show its age, the shower and bathroom were nice and the AC kept up on a 95 degree day. If I am in the area again I will hope for a renovated room of this hotel that is in a great location, and unlike other hotels, don't charge for parking.

We live about 2 hours away, and due to coming into town and going to a benefit for the Dream Factory...we did not want to drive home late. I had the reservation for 2 weeks, based on our Marriott Platinum status, we try to stay at Marriott properties. Last year, prior to the lockdown, I stayed in a long term Marriott property due to a family move, and I arrived in town early while the family stayed to sell the house. We still traveled some, and always stayed in a Marriott property to gain our status to use later in 2020 and this year. We really should not have bothered, as this is the 4th Marriott who does not stand by the "perks" we spent over $15000 to earn. After staying 75 nights, we were promised complementary upgrades to the best available suite. That is written in the Bonvoy status details. We arrived at the Marriott and parked in the 15 minute check in parking (very handy), and checked in. The reservationist said we should be happy as we were getting a 1 tier upgrade due to our loyalty. I asked what that meant...she said we were being moved from a standard room to a room on the 18th floor, which is a club level floor. I asked if it was a suite, and she said no but it is a renovated room. The suites are on the floor above. She said her Marriott only gave 1 tier upgrades to loyalty members. Suites were available and we were only there for 1 night, but they would not honor the Marriott rules. Fine....I ask the hours of the club lounge, as this is a nice perk even thought it is not sufficient for our level. She tells us the club lounge is closed. I ask what the upgrade really is then...she shrugs and says it is a higher floor. We visit the rooms family are staying in (bought through 3rd party vendors like Priceline at a HUGE discount whereas we paid Marriott direct prices so we could get points and have the upgrades we EARNED). Same exact rooms...just different floors. For a standard room, they are nice and very clean. The bed is very high due to the tall box spring and mattress. Incredibly comfortable, with a medium warmth comforter, which was absolutely clean, good smelling and lovely as a cover. Large shower with average bath samples. Big fuzzy towels too. The rooms had coffee makers, fridges, a large loveseat under the windows and plenty of wardrobe and counter space. Yes, it was a great hotel, with a huge lounge (including lots of comfortable chairs and nooks for privacy when enjoying a cocktail). Restaurant was small with a limited breakfast menu, but fresh cooked food. Had they offered the perks we earned, it would have been 5 stars, we would stay there every time we are in town for the evening...and we would recommend to everyone. We are going to try other Marriott property until we find one that honors the Marriott loyalty rewards....or may go back to IHG, where we were Spire members and always received lovely upgrades and welcome gifts without asking...and it only took 45 nights to earn suite rewards. If you can book for a reasonable rate on a third party website...great hotel to stay out (just be sure to park early as the garage does run out of room). If you are a Marriott loyalty member...probably want to find another spot where they appreciate and honor the program level you earned.
