We are traveling across the country from Arizona to New Hampshire and had been on some roads where there was a whole lot of nothing. We arrived at Kansas Country Inn in Oakley after dark and very tired but this stopover exceeded our expectations! The staff were exceptional and the motel and grounds were really nice. The room was clean and large. The decor was very homey and we loved that we had a love seat to relax on in our room. The grounds were nice and there was a lot of grassy area to walk our dogs. They served a great hot breakfast with several choices. The morning we were there we had our choice of biscuits and gravy, breakfast casserole, waffles, fresh hot apple crisp (yum!) as well as hard boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, juice and coffee. I think there was some type of fruit as well. There was a bit of a mix up with our reservation but they upgraded us to a better room at no extra charge. We would definitely stay again if traveling through that area. Restaurants and large gas stations nearby. …
The staff was super friendly. And the breakfast was outstanding. With lots of selections. They say it is pet friendly and it was. We had a really nice day the room was clean and comfortable. The place may be a little old. But the place also has lots of character and charm with plants in the lobby and home decorations. It didn't feel cold and indifferent like a chain hotel.
TripAdvisor should be shut down for rating this dump highly. I booked a one night stay here because of then8.1 rating on TripAdvisor and much to my dismay upon checking in we walked into a room that felt more like a prison cell with the concrete block walls. I can't recall either, staying at at a hotel that got their furnishings from the local flea market. Every piece in the room like someone took a belt sander to it. I guess maybe it could have been new and they were going for going for that distressed look. Did I mention the toilet? This one happened to have a ring of that black moldy looking fungus stuff around it with streaks of this stuff coming down where the water comes into the bowl and then, there was hair, not my hair, but someone else's hair all over the rim. Never, ever again, will I stay here. Hopefully I can get a refund when I get back after dinner and get a better room at the Confort Inn up the street.…
We had driven 10 hours and went past this hotel for the “brand” one just down the road. Don’t do that!! After a less than desirable greeting at said hotel we drove back to this one and so glad. Much cheaper. Great service. Rooms are super cute and clean. Breakfast - egg bake, warm peach cobbler, waffles and more. Bags for ice from the ice machine. They get it!!! Well done!!!
Not affiliated with a chain and better than most chains. Very clean room. Very nice desk clerk who helped us find a brand new Mexican restaurant. The breakfast was all homemade and very good. Well managed breakfast room. Attendant wanted to keep folks happy at all times.
I have stayed here multiple times just to get a home-cooked breakfast while on the road. the staff is kind, the rooms are clean and the property is well maintained. It can host some noisy guests so earplugs can be helpful, but as a solo female traveler, I feel safe and happy here.
Unexpected gem in Oakley, KS. This nicely kept motel is wonderful! Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and a homemade breakfast that is with stopping for on its own. Staff were friendly and welcoming across the board. Will absolutely stay here again when traveling I-70.
Helpful staff, good breakfast. Clean, quiet room, good bed, with no traffic noise. We didn't hear other guests, which is unusual. It's just a mile off the freeway. We'll stay here again if we come through this way.
Wow!! What a gem! I picture this Inn as what travelers used to encounter in the 50's. Each room is uniquely decorated for a cozy atmosphere. There were additional cozy blankets found in the room as well. Tall individuals may have a difficult time in the shower, as the shower head is only approximately 5ft. 6in. The bed and the pillows were comfortable! Breakfast was absolutely phenomenal! I had fresh biscuits and gravy, cheesy egg casserole, and coffee cake. My only complaint, and it was a very small one, was there not being any shampoo available. I found two conditioners, so I went to the front desk to request a shampoo. The young lady operating the front desk checked in the back, but said they were completely out. I am glad I found out before I hopped in the shower for the night. Everything was quiet and the room was equipped with a Roku TV which allowed a more personalized tv experience.…
We needed a room for the night, so we picked this out online due its high rating and low price. The exterior might have scared me off if I was just driving, but the rooms were very nice. Well appointed and clean. The front desk was helpful with a. Very laid back vibe.
