Detailed Reviews
I booked a room last night for my husband while he was driving solo, and the Manager Amanda was incredibly helpful and hospitable. I chose this area for him to stop in because there have been 0 COVID cases, and in addition to that, Amanda described in detail all the things they do to keep the rooms clean and guests safe. In addition to THAT, I was able to pre-check-in my husband, and Amanda went into his room (with a mask and gloves), to turn on the air and re-wipe down surfaces including the door knob, leaving the door unlocked so he wouldn't have to interact with anyone and just head straight to the room. She also put a bucket in the parking spot right in front of his room so he could find it at night and head straight into his room. 5/5! I highly recommend this hotel!

My family and I were very pleased with the night we spent at the Kansas Country Inn and when we were leaving the room to checkout one of my children said they would definitely stay there again.
The hotel is older, but they are definitely working on updating the rooms. Ours had definitely been renovated. We stayed in a room with a queen and two twin beds which was great for the kids who didn’t have to fight for space to sleep. The room decor was very nice—felt very homey—and the beds were comfortable. The faucet rim on the sink lit up (so you could see to wash your hands at night without turning on a light) and my kids loved that. The downside to the room was the curtains…they were a light color and not very thick so they not only let a lot of sunlight in, but also there was a lot of light from the parking lot lights that illuminated the room all night.
The breakfast was very nice. They had two different egg casseroles, biscuits, gravy, waffle maker and batter, cereal, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, peach cobbler, a dump cake, and I’m sure other things I’m forgetting. What we had was very good, but it was disappointing that a lot of the pans were empty when we got to breakfast at 8:15 and were not refilled while we were there (the oatmeal, peach cobbler, dump cake, and one of the breakfast casseroles were empty pans.) The food is good so I would make sure to go to breakfast early if we were to stay again.
The wifi worked well and the signal seemed strong.
The checkin and checkout were very easy and the staff at the desk were very friendly.
The pool looked good, but we didn’t have time to use it.

Recently Remodeled motel. Clean, comfortable firm beds with great pillows. The shower has good water pressure, plenty of hot water, and a full sized adult toilet. The breakfast included a full hot service of biscuits & gravy, hot oatmeal, an excellent hashbrown, sausage & egg casserole.. REAL coffee and juice!

We rented two rooms for just a one night's stay. Each room was decorated differently and both were very clean, had a country charm and very comfortable beds and nice linens. The staff was exceptional and helped us search our paper maps for the best route to avoid an incoming storm the next day. Thank you, Jerry! We were traveling with dogs and the rate was for them was reasonable. Lots of space to walk them and the management had installed the pooper bag and can combo so clean up was easy and people seemed to use it for their dog's needs. Breakfast was the icing on the cake. A huge variety to choose from, several hot dishes fresh from the oven and kitchen. The decor was country charming and such nice touches everywhere. Even pink lemonade and bottled water in the lobby. My travel mate and I felt that this was perhaps our favorite spot on our 4-week road journey. Why? The staff, the food, the extra's, down to the the little rag with a note by the bathroom sink. Clever. Would stop here again anytime in the area...a true surprise!

Wow!! What a gem! I picture this Inn as what travelers used to encounter in the 50's. Each room is uniquely decorated for a cozy atmosphere. There were additional cozy blankets found in the room as well. Tall individuals may have a difficult time in the shower, as the shower head is only approximately 5ft. 6in. The bed and the pillows were comfortable!
Breakfast was absolutely phenomenal! I had fresh biscuits and gravy, cheesy egg casserole, and coffee cake.
My only complaint, and it was a very small one, was there not being any shampoo available. I found two conditioners, so I went to the front desk to request a shampoo. The young lady operating the front desk checked in the back, but said they were completely out. I am glad I found out before I hopped in the shower for the night.
Everything was quiet and the room was equipped with a Roku TV which allowed a more personalized tv experience.

Along side of the motel itself is the beginnings of an RV park. It’s all gravel with trees around the edge and more excavating to go, but you get level pads, full hookups and access to the pool for $21.50 per night. It’s right next to the highway, but little traffic, so I slept like a baby. The guy at the front counter was also really nice. Great choice for overnight or two nights.

There’s really not much between Omaha and Santa Fe. So, when mapping a journey southwest, how do you decide where to stay? Here’s the deal: If you were told that there’s a place in Kansas where you could have peach cobbler, freshly baked and warm, at a motel continental breakfast, would you sign up for it? And if you were told that you could have a re-purposed shabby chic ironing board for a table in your hotel, wouldn’t you want that? And if you knew that the theme of the room was vintage Americana with the dusty colors of the Betsy Ross flag adorning the bedspread and the wall art, wouldn’t it be your patriotic duty to stay? And what if you heard there was a motel with an outdoor pool (including pool toys) where you could swim while serenaded by prairie birds and admiring the corn fields, wouldn’t that sound sweet? If you answered sure or heck yeah to any of the above, then the Kansas Country Inn is waiting for you in the little hamlet of Oakley, Kansas, a crossroads for many, truckers and travelers just passing through. But maybe, for you, your stay in Oakley could be more than just a blip on the map en route to another place.

The hotel was perfectly average for our needs. The beds were comfortable and the door included an extra deadbolt along with the chain to make you feel more secure. The front desk quickly addressed any requests we had - for example, there was no soap in our room, and they were quick to apologize and had some waiting for us in the lobby. We bumped our rating to 4 because of the ample breakfast - we felt that was a large part of the value of our stay.
We asked at check-in to stay on the 2nd floor so probably did not get one of the renovated rooms other reviews refer to. Some of the improvements needed in the room we stayed in - no lighting on an entire side of the room so it was VERY dark (we recommend a standing lamp maybe), the bathroom was very worn with discoloration along the seams and fixtures, and the tub was not wiped out recently so we had to clean it before using it (but this was probably because they were not expecting to use the room that night). And we are not sure if the garbage cans had not been rinsed out recently, but in the outside spaces out front there was a decided stench when we checked in (the temperatures in the 90s probably did not help).
We are mixed on whether we would stay here again or not, but my husband says he would just for the sausage gravy at breakfast!

I stayed here once before and I will say this was even better than before. They continue to renovate rooms. Mine was very quiet and ideal. Lovely decor with little indivisual touches you don't find in the chains. The room next to me was also a single traveler and we spoke over a wonderful full breakfast offering. They had sausage, a hash brown casserole, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, fruit, juices, home made coffee cake, etc. whatever you wanted, they had. I will probably always stay here when traveling east if the times work out.

I can't say enough nice things about this little place. We happened upon it when we were road-weary and bone tired, and it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. The staff was exceptionally friendly, the rooms were very clean, with lots of artistic, personal touches, and the hot breakfast was far better than you'd find in most places. There was also a nice-looking pool and gazebo area for picnicking, but we did not use either.
