What a junk yard. Looked good on the web but when we got there we were really disappointed. Crappy RV slots, lots of dirt, dog park needed a cleanup, what more can I say. Oh, the nightly fee was the highest me have paid on this trip.
Great Place to stay that normally is hard to get into because there's so much going on like raceway season, but now with the pandemic that's not happening, so we were lucky enough to be able to get in! This place is right in the middle of everything (shhh don't tell anybody!) You're right off I-35 close to Downtown, Westport, and all that's happening in Kansas City, Overland Park, etc. it's a quiet place, well kept, friendly, has room for big rigs, pull through sites and even has ice cream at the office, and a meeting room for small groups too! We always felt safe in this great neighborhood and nearby shopping centers and restaurants were great too!
Walnut Grove is tucked into a nice neighborhood right off I35. The location is convenient to everything Kansas City. Felt very safe. Very friendly staff. Helped get us parked and plenty of room to maneuver a 34'Class A. Nice little store in the office area that has anything you need in short order, although there are many stores and grocerys near by. Our space had room to park our toad next to our rig , a picnic table, and a ring. Surprisingly roomy for parking in the city. The only strange thing was the sewer hookup. My Camco tapered elbow would not fit securely. I bought a sewer fitting from their store and that still did not fit securely. I don't know if it was just my spot or every spot is plumbed that way. First time I've run into this. A great stay. This is not a resort but a convenient place to stay in the city for visiting friends, sightseeing, or going to a game.…
Quiet campground. Far enough off highway that it didn’t get all that noise. People staying we’re very quiet. Lots of long-term, several who seemed to be there for several nights like us, and a few one-night passers-through. All full hookup. Restrooms clean and pleasant. Sites are a bit spartan but sufficient. Picnic table and fire pit in good shape. Close enough to our family and toppings of interest that it didn’t feel like we were driving all weekend
Staff met us at the road to direct us into the RV park. We had a pull through site next to the building. It is an RV park which had what appeared to have seasonal sites and welcomed person's passing through. Staff very friendly - loved the laundry area it was reasonable as well. Showers appeared clean (smell) however did not use them. It was an easy in and easy out. Communication was great, phone calls, emails to confirm arrival. Our site was wide enough for our truck and a visitor car.
