I arrived on a Sunday night and was there for the week on a work trip. When I returned to my room after a long day of work on the following Monday, no housekeeping had been done in my room whatsoever. I then requested a “Housekeeping Refresh” via the app. No one came up to even give me fresh towels (and there were only 2 in the room when I checked in). 30 minutes later, the app said that housekeeping had been completed in my room (see attached screenshot). The next day, I specifically left the hangtag on my door requesting maid service. When I returned from work that evening, once again no housekeeping services had been done. When I called down to the front desk, they informed me that they are not doing any sort of regular housekeeping whatsoever at this time. I then asked if my sheets could be changed the following day (as I was going to be there for another 5 nights), and the front desk told me that THEY DO NOT DO ANY SORT OF SHEET CHANGING WHATSOEVER. He also informed me that the only thing he could do was bring me up some clean towels. NO WIPING DOWN OF ANY SURFACES, NO EMPTYING OF TRASH CANS, NO ADDITIONAL DISPOSAL CUPS FOR THE IN-ROOM COFFEE MAKER. During these COVID times, this is very disturbing to me. Especially since the app and the website plainly states that they not only have regular housekeeping but that you can also request a “Refresh” at anytime and they do a light refresh in addition to regular cleaning. If I could give Aloft Hotels zero stars I would. Cleanliness is the one thing we need out of hotels these days, and Aloft’s current policies are atrocious.

The leawood area is beautiful. Loved the closeness of upscale shopping and dining. However, the hotel was a major disappointment. I stayed in this same aloft previously and loved it, this time was not a good experience. Issues: Cold to lukewarm showers Housekeeping was non existent. Took out my own trash, etc. COVID related issues I understand. No clock in the room Sink in bathroom broken and clogged. Notified staff on the 13th. Notified again on the 15th - it was repaired. Internet access was NOT free as advertised. Ceiling looked to be in ill repair. Door handles missing to women’s bathroom entrance on main floor lobby area. Overall, the quality of this hotel is lacking in all areas. Pros Comfortable bed and pillows.

Place used to be so great, stayed there regularly when we were in KC. Lately it looks/feels like a seedy $50/night budget motel. There was mold in the shower, found lipstick on the pillows and popcorn in the bed. Floors were gross in the room and the bathroom. Crazy amount of actual dust on the toilet paper holder.

My high school son had a lacrosse tournament in Overland Park, KS (Scheel fields). The team picked this hotel. Great location near the tournament. We arrived on Friday evening and checked out on Sunday. Note: The hotel is located in a quaint shopping area with shops all around and a mall adjacent the street. Upon arrival you park in circle drive and go to second floor of building to check in. After check in you are told to drive to an unattached parking garage. The reason for the "poor" rating was that on Saturday morning, afternoon and Sunday morning the showers did not have HOT water! My son didn't complain Saturday morning. We returned in the afternoon after him playing 3 games - he needed to shower. NO HOT water! He complained. Called the front desk they asked what room we were in I told them 412. They said to turn on shower and they will look into it and try to remedy. No hot water! On Sunday morning we tried the shower temperature at 6:00 AM - NO HOT water! Called the front desk to say this is uncalled for. She said to run water for 20 minutes to see if water heats up as it is dependent on how many guests in hotel are taking a shower / using water. WHAT? After 20 minutes or so...you guessed it, NO HOT water!...it didn't seem to get warmer at all. I walked to the front desk to personally give my disappointment telling front desk clerk -no hot water even after 20+ minutes. She was compassionate and mentioned that certain rooms do not have hot water and this has been going on for a year. Yes, she said a YEAR. I asked for the General Manager contact information. She said he was aware of the situation. I was not the only one at the hotel disappointed with the lack of HOT water...Multiple guests said they had a similar problem. NO hot water at the hotel?... think about this... 1. How are the sheets getting cleaned? 2. How are towels getting cleaned? I asked to have one night credited to my bill, and they did.

I stayed four nights at this hotel. After arriving very late the first night and getting to sleep, the next night we were awakened at dark-thirty by the alarm. The message would cut off and would not give complete instruction. “Attention. A situation has been....” I looked out the window and did not see any activity, so I went to the front desk, and I heard the staff say on the phone “There is no emergency. Sorry. We can’t turn off the alarm.” I went back and stayed in the room. When the Fire Truck showed up I was looking out the window and saw the way the firemen sauntered out of the truck. I knew there was no emergency. The alarm was shut off but the strobe light kept flashing. They staff could not shut it off and had to wait for the company to arrive and turn it off, over three hours later. Needless to say, I had planned to sleep in late but that was not possible. The next night someone was working in the building right next to the hotel at 10 pm. It sounded like they were using a machine and was disturbing. I kept getting up and looking out the window. I could see the 3rd floor office space was empty, so the sound was not from there. Finally, I looked down and could see on the 2nd floor a light going back and forth, like a floor refinisher. They worked until about 11:00 or so. While this is not the hotel’s fault, it made for a bitter experience at the Aloft Hotel. Then the next night another alarm went off at 4:54 am. This time the message was complete saying there was an emergency and to evacuate. I was on the 3rd floor and walked to the nearest stair well and joined others to go down. We walked down to the ground floor but we could not get out. The door was locked. We had to go back up to the 2nd floor, where the check-in desk is, cross over and take another stairwell down to the ground floor. There was no signage directing you. The hotel advertises on the television that they utilized “electrostatic spraying of high touch surfaces” to clean the rooms. However, one of the tables in the room had dried up juice on it. I was suspect about the cleanliness of the room. I did have hot water, though. The bed was adequate and comfortable. My purpose in choosing The Aloft was to visit my sister in the hospital, which was 2 miles away. Subsequently, I went to the hospital tired and came home tired each day until I left. This was my first time to Kansas City and I liked what I saw. However, I will not stay at The Aloft.
