Let me tell you my story. I was out on my first motorcycle camping adventure, and decided Dodge City was the destination because of the weekend races. Jèsus, the park manager, set me up in a nice spot where I could pitch my tent. After an evening at the race track, I was back in camp around 10:30, when one of those Kansas Plains rain storms opened up. I was in my cheap little $25 Big 5 tent getting soaked (it leaked like a sieve) and thrashed by wind, when my phone rang. It was Jèsus the owner/manager. He was calling because he was worried about me out there in a tent in the storm. He offered to move me into the Bunkhouse for the night...for free. He even came and got me in his truck and gave me a ride over so my sleeping bag and effects wouldn't get even wetter then they already were. Now, mind you, he had already gone home for the night, and drove all the way back to the park to help me out. Wow! Talk about service! These people REALLY care about the people that stay with them. The next day I threw the tent in the trash, and went to the office to change my accommodations to another night in the Bunkhouse. I offered to pay the difference for the previous night in the Bunkhouse, but Jèsus wouldn't have it. He said it was a favor because he was worried about me out there in my crappy tent...and he doesn't charge for favors. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it now. THAT is why I like to vacation in Kansas, and THAT is why I'll stay at the Gunsmoke RV Park again. GREAT PLACE...GREAT PEOPLE!…
Stayed 2 nights in this RV park which was just newly aquired just a few days ago by Jesus. Everything is wonderful! Nice clean laundry facilities, super clean bath and shower, and the park area is also very well maintained. If we are back in this area, we will be sure to stay here! !
Stayed 2 nights. Nice level pad w multiple sewer connections per site. Never saw that before, but it made it easy to use a 10 foot hose. Clean laundry room, clean restroom/shower facility. I would certainly stay here again if I come back this way. Not far from downtown, the casino or the Walmart.
One of our favorite place to stay. Sites are pretty level easy in/out. Owner is a pretty good guy. The office even sells fresh yard eggs. A must place to stay if your in Dodge City. Down town offers good sightseeing.
Loved the atmosphere of this campground. Want to return. For those who have seen reruns of the TV show Gunsmoke, the street names and yard art around the campground and some of gift shop items will make a lot of sense. Either way, it’s a fun theme. Friendly and accommodating staff. Big sites in back, good for 40-45’ big rigs. A few sites in front for overnighters needing a quick evening stop. We didn’t make use of the pool. Pet friendly. Good Verizon signal for those who need to work on the road.
The man who checked us in (the owner, I think) was really nice and helpful. It's pretty spartan as far as RV parks go, but then we were there in winter so nothing was green anywhere. It was clean and tidy. It's very close to downtown Dodge City - about a 5 minute drive.
First of all, this is a great park. It's not too large, & has a nice, roomy, comfortable feel to it, especially in the back part of the park. It's also ideally located for all attractions, but far enough away to be quiet & peaceful. Our experience began about 1:00 a.m. when I had to call an ambulance for my husband. The park owner got up, opened the gates for the ambulance, etc. As we were supposed to be leaving & our spot was already booked for a large party, he offered to move his own trailer so we could have his spot since the park was booked & we'd be unable to leave at this point. Then, he also volunteered to move our trailer for us since I was staying at the hospital. When my husband was discharged, I came back to the trailer to get it ready to leave, & he showed up at our trailer asking what he could do to help. Although our experience in Dodge City was definitely not what we'd planned, his concern & willingness to help was VERY much appreciated, & DEFINITELY made a harrowing experience much easier. If we're ever back in the area, we'll absolutely go back there! This is an excellent choice in Dodge City!…
Gunsmoke RV Park excels at customer service. From the moment of arrival to the time of departure, the owner is friendly and engaging with his guests. That for me goes a long way. Beyond the interaction, this park has spotless bathrooms and showers, a great laundry room, a very nice swimming pool, and (at least the pull-through sites in the back) spacious sites. The sites have 2 sewer drains, something I really appreciate because I have separate grey and black water drains. The sites have a picnic table and shade trees. There's plenty of green areas to walk dogs. The park also has a great location, just a short distance from Boot Hill Museum.
I've only had my fifth wheel for about a year but this is the cutest RV park I've visited. The office area and pool are right up front and it's set up in old west style. I would have given this a five star rating except for just a few things. I would have liked to put out our carpet mat and our doggie fence out but those aren't permitted. I like to sit outside with my dog without him having to be on a leash. Also, I'm very particular about picking up after my dog (and I did) but there is only one large trash receptacle and after walking my dog for a while, I don't feel like walking over to it (but I did.) If one trash can could be put at the end of each row, that would be much appreciated. Otherwise, we really loved it here.
We have really enjoyed our stay here. Two nights. It has full hookups, laundry facility (they named their washers and dryers) :-). A cute playground for kids and a pool. Trees for shade on most sites and plenty of room to set up a small fenced in area for pets. Also a small general store in case you forget something. Quiet, clean and very well maintained. Only one downside is the freight train that passes by at 5:30am. But that is only a minor inconvenience.
