Gunsmoke RV Park excels at customer service. From the moment of arrival to the time of departure, the owner is friendly and engaging with his guests. That for me goes a long way. Beyond the interaction, this park has spotless bathrooms and showers, a great laundry room, a very nice swimming pool, and (at least the pull-through sites in the back) spacious sites. The sites have 2 sewer drains, something I really appreciate because I have separate grey and black water drains. The sites have a picnic table and shade trees. There's plenty of green areas to walk dogs. The park also has a great location, just a short distance from Boot Hill Museum.

We have really enjoyed our stay here. Two nights. It has full hookups, laundry facility (they named their washers and dryers) :-). A cute playground for kids and a pool. Trees for shade on most sites and plenty of room to set up a small fenced in area for pets. Also a small general store in case you forget something. Quiet, clean and very well maintained. Only one downside is the freight train that passes by at 5:30am. But that is only a minor inconvenience.

I've only had my fifth wheel for about a year but this is the cutest RV park I've visited. The office area and pool are right up front and it's set up in old west style.
I would have given this a five star rating except for just a few things. I would have liked to put out our carpet mat and our doggie fence out but those aren't permitted. I like to sit outside with my dog without him having to be on a leash.
Also, I'm very particular about picking up after my dog (and I did) but there is only one large trash receptacle and after walking my dog for a while, I don't feel like walking over to it (but I did.)
If one trash can could be put at the end of each row, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks for staying with us. We're glad you enjoyed the park. We don't allow mats because they kill the grass and when it rains, create a muddy mess for others. Dog fences aren't allowed, because we have had past experiences where people leave their dogs outside unattended, which is not safe for the dog or, in some cases, other campers. We placed the dumpster in a convenient place where folks can drive by and dump trash when leaving. To keep costs down for our campers, we have one central location. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to collect trash daily from dumpsters. Kansas is windy much of the time and we really don't want more receptacles to create trash blowing around the campground. We are a husband and wife team, so unfortunately, at this point, we do not not have the manpower to take on more duties. However, we have taken note and will consider it for the future. Spent 3 nights here mid-week. After having been as far north as Minnesota this tour, heading south into a much drier climate impacts the aesthetics of a facility. Gravel level pad, as most have been lately, & will probably continue to be. We’re in the back, where sites are generously spread out. Absolutely outstanding internet. I have dinged many destination resorts for this amenity’s mediocrity. This perk bumps a rating of an ‘8’ to a ‘9’, which rounds up to excellent.

great stay as always. good power at pedestal, water pressure avg was 55. Plenty of room for my motorhome and tow. cut our Arizona winter short and heading home early this year. see you this fall! Always a great stay, even though this time we lost a little at the casino.

Stayed 2 nights. Nice level pad w multiple sewer connections per site. Never saw that before, but it made it easy to use a 10 foot hose. Clean laundry room, clean restroom/shower facility. I would certainly stay here again if I come back this way. Not far from downtown, the casino or the Walmart.

One of our favorite place to stay. Sites are pretty level easy in/out. Owner is a pretty good guy. The office even sells fresh yard eggs. A must place to stay if your in Dodge City. Down town offers good sightseeing.

We booked a 4 night stay while in the area. Our site was in the "rear", newer area of the park. (The sheep and goats from the ajoining farm were very entertaining). The site was level and the utilities were conveniently located. We thought the sites were a nice size. Ours had a grassy area with a picnic table. The facilities were well maintained. Especially the bath/shower and laundry - we used both areas. They also have a nice pool that they were in the process of opening. The park was quiet at night, other than you could hear a train or two each night. We would stay here again if in the area.

Loved the atmosphere of this campground. Want to return. For those who have seen reruns of the TV show Gunsmoke, the street names and yard art around the campground and some of gift shop items will make a lot of sense. Either way, it’s a fun theme. Friendly and accommodating staff. Big sites in back, good for 40-45’ big rigs. A few sites in front for overnighters needing a quick evening stop. We didn’t make use of the pool. Pet friendly. Good Verizon signal for those who need to work on the road.

The man who checked us in (the owner, I think) was really nice and helpful.
It's pretty spartan as far as RV parks go, but then we were there in winter so nothing was green anywhere. It was clean and tidy.
It's very close to downtown Dodge City - about a 5 minute drive.
