The room was beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a remote, peaceful location. All you could hear was the birds in the trees. The food was served in the courtyard of our room - which was just perfect. I can still remember how impressed i was with the food... The shower was outdoors and a wonderful experience - brought me close to nature. I would definitely commend staying in this hotel, especially as it breaks up the long journey from the airport to the next tourist stop.
We only had a one night stay at Casa Helliconia however would absolutely stay for longer next time. The hotel surpassed expectations and really was even better than the photographs (including the pool with the symmetrical pot plants)! It felt incredibly private, the staff were lovely and assisted us with transport needs while providing us with wonderful food and service that fit the royal history. We will return to Casa Hellonica on our next holiday to Sri Lanka and hopefully will get to feed the bull again to!
We had a lovely welcome with a cold drink and towels Our room was huge with outdoor shower. Dressing gowns provided which was nice Air conditioning and fans worked well They surprised us with a 3 course candle lit dinner which was so nice, it was peaceful with just sounds of nature The staff were really friendly There was a pool, but we didn’t get the chance to use it. There were quite a lot of mosquitos but we were provided with a band and a net We had Sri Lankan breakfast which was delicious This was just a one night stop over after we had landed in Colombo before moving on to the cultural triangle I don’t think you would stay here for a long time as it is quite isolated and no WiFi We would stay again if we needed a night to recoup
I stayed one night at the Casa Heliconia upon arriving for a month-long stay in Sri Lanka. It was definitely the most original hotel I stayed at during my stay! The hotel is hidden in the jungle around a 45 minute drive from the airport. It is in a very local place, next to an ancient Buddhist temple and near a local village. There are chirping birds and forest sounds, especially magical in the evening. The hotel only has three rooms, each is entirely unique and has a combination of repurposed local building materials, antiques and artwork. My room had its own mini temple behind which was the outdoor shower. This was also the charming view for the candle light dinner. On the other side was a water pool looking towards the Buddhist temple. This is the perfect place to take in the beauty and charm of Sri Lanka either at the beginning or end of your trip and is ideal for a romantic holiday. I highly recommend the hotel and only wish I could have stayed longer!!…
Ideal romantic place for a very typical first or last night in Sri Lanka. The place is like in a movie, 3 completely different Bungalows, all are decorated in a very very stylish manner. Hard to decide which one is the best. We liked the one with the temple view. Taking a swim in the dark is a must, also beautiful set up!!! Meals are served on your own terrace, very good quality. Beautiful location for a relaxing day with Sri Lanka Feeling before flying back or arriving (drive to airport only 45 Minutes)
