#1 of 2 B&Bs / Inns in Winterborne Kingston
The Greyhound has been a lovely village pub for many years, offering great food to its locals and visitors alike. In recent times the pub has gone through a complete renovation and refurbishment program, bring a well-loved pub back to its former glory, but with a modern contemporary feel. It offers a large bar area, popular with the locals with varied seating options to eat or socialise. In addition, there is a beautiful garden area, with secluded areas for private dining Alfresco when the weather allows. Our dining room provides a warm welcome to our guests, with a roaring fire in the winter, where you can relax and enjoy a delightful meal. The dining room is modern and serves locally sourced, freshly prepared dishes from 12 – 2.30 and again between 6pm – 9pm every day; and if the weather’s good our garden is the ideal place to spend a few hours or more! Our menu is updated on a regular basis to reflect the change in seasons and to make the best use of what resources are on offer to us. In addition, we serve a core menu of ‘Pub Classics’ and signature dishes, so if you know what you like, your favourite is likely to be there. Our specials board is updated daily, but be quick if you see something you like. It may sell out quickly. Our Sunday Roast is extremely popular and we take bookings for 12pm through until 8pm. All of our meat is supplied by from the best quality butchers, sourced locally from in and around Dorset. The Greyhound has five guest bedrooms, which can be configured for your ease and booked as doubles, twins or even as a family suite, all with luxury en-suite bathrooms (some have a bath) and all have private lounges for our guests’ comfort. If you want a branded mass-market hotel, then we are not for you; if you want a high quality stay, with a warm welcome and a personal touch, you have found the right place.

We were visiting the area, and booked a table in the garden for 5 people on the weekend that the Greyhound re-opened following the Covid closure. We had carefully selected a safe venue as we wanted to sit outside, we were so pleased with our choice. The garden area was perfect for social distancing, with round table surrounded by hedges which separated us from others. We ordered all our meals and drinks using the Greyhound App, the table service was provided by the friendly Nathan. We ordered 4 roast dinners and a Hunters chicken, the food was all delicious and fairly priced as were the deserts which followed. As we enjoyed it so much, we returned later in the week for our final meal before we returned home after a week away. Thank you for making our first meal out post lock down a safe and delicious one!

We have stayed at The Greyhound before whilst visiting our son and had a very good stay, no complaints. We have since learnt that new owners are now on board. My husband stayed again this month for a couple of nights. He wanted me to say that the accommodation is just as good and even better, the food is great. We wish the business success in the future.

I rang the Greyhound about six weeks prior to the date I wished to book, and I thought everything was great, room arranged with no problem. BUT there was a problem, when I rang to confirm just one week before the date, I was told that no booking had been made! I was even told I must have phoned the wrong number...really? then how come I rang the same wrong number again to be informed of this? This booking (or non-booking) was part of a birthday party for a close friend, and I later found out that exactly the same had happened to another couple, maybe they phoned the wrong number too :( ? As it happened we had a lovely stay at a farmhouse B&B, along with the other couple who were told we'd never actually reserved this place. Would I ring them again? not on your life. Just relieved I checked the booking (it was the only phone number I had) before we turned up after a five hour drive!

Beautifully renovated pub restaurant with rooms! New owners have cleverly refurbed and give us punters what we want! Great value, great quality and service. Only one night here to attend family function but we were treated like royalty. We had a room which was apparently the smallest but it was still well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast - the full English of course! The bacon and sausage were clearly of local provenance (and more information on that would be of interest to guests as a another USP.) Bar area and garden immaculate and they are planning a fine dining pop up once a month! We wish them the very best of luck. Great place, really enjoyed it here.
