Was able to spend an evening camping at the Svinafell Campsite. Campsite is right off of Road 1 in a nice part of the mountain with small waterfalls. The reception area is across the campground facilities (1700 ISK per person). The camp site is clean and well taken care of. There is a large kitchen area with hot plates, bread toasters, water kettle, and a large sink. The campground has WC and showers with hot water. Great campsite to stay at

We stayed there a couple of nights with our van. It was CROWDED: you have to wait an average of 30min to wash dishes (one sink for the whole campsite!),cook in your own stove (only 4 stoves) in a not ventilated cooking area and sit in a narrow place for eating... For brushing your teeth, the same (2 sinks), taking a shower around 30min in line (5 showers total). Very stressful and uncomfortable place... Probably the worst campsite I've ever stayed in.

Just stopped at the restaurant. Simple, but excellent food. Would definitely recommend it. Both of us had chicken burgers. Friendly staff and fairly reasonable price. Make sure you get hamburger sauce on the chicken burger.

Crowded campsite with good facilities. Big kitchen area and showers (5) included in the high price. Clean toilets and available in different campsite zones. Probably skaftafell would have been better choice.

I have spent two years travelling/working around Iceland and have stayed at dozens of campgrounds. Feroapjonustan i Svinafelli is absolutely an amazing place to stay for a few reasons: 1) Hot showers and WIFI are included in the price of 1700kr a night (Very rare in Iceland) 2) There is a large kitchen/dining area inside for rainy days 3) The campsite is located right underneath Hvannadalshnjúkur , Iceland's highest peak. So the views from the campground are amazing. 4) The staff is incredibly helpful: When I showed up with soaking wet boots they plugged in a special heater for me so I could dry my boots for the next day. Even better, when I left the campground I forgot my jacket with my wallet and keys (!) and only realized when I got back to Reykjavik. They made sure it was safe and got someone to take it to Reykjavik for me. An incredible act of kindness! Take it from a local: If you are looking for a beautiful campground near the glaciers with staff that will go out of their way to help you out, this is the place! Thanks again you guys! Julian

Stunningly beautiful and quiet. Def stay here but get here early as it gets crowded quickly. Def use the massive common area for a great place to eat and cook. Look out for the sheep and beautiful horses right next door.

Decided to stay here instead of inside the national park (it has bad reviews) and was so happy here. The location is really beautiful with meadows, sheep, views of the glacier and plenty of space to park a camper van. Amenities were great - huge common space, clean showers (they were personal cubicles), hot water, toilets in multiple locations of the campground. Loved it!

You’ll need to email to reserve a spot. It’s a great deal for the price. All the hotels in the area are incredibly expensive. Bring a sleeping bag and have access to a kitchen. Wake up to some sleep munching outside the front door.

We were travelling the Ring road and booked everything as we went. Camping at Skaftafell was the only camping we really considered doing, but the weather was harsh. Someone recommended us this place. We got sleeping bag accommodation for a very reasonable price and it was very decent. Spartan but decent and cheap.
