Gangtey Lodge is a gorgeous hotel. Surrounded by beautiful valleys, the lodge is quite unassuming with architecture that blends well with the landscape. As soon as I walked in to the hotel, I felt very welcome with the personalized greeting from the GM at the door as well as a lovely song performed by the staff. The team was very careful to understand what my needs were, and made sure these were accommodated. The suite was also quite stunning with amazing views of the valley. The heated floors and amenities were very welcome, particularly when I went in November. The spa services were very good as well. Since I only stayed one night, I wish I had more time to spend at the hotel and participate in the activities.

Dear 143terencec, Thank you for your taking the time to share your experience of Gangtey Lodge on Trip Advisor. I am delighted to hear that you felt welcome and that you enjoyed the beautiful valley and our suites. I agree the heated floors are a welcome touch in November when the weather is crisp and despite your short stay, that you were able to enjoy our spa services. I hope that we can welcome you back in the future for a longer stay. Until then, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, happy and prosperous New Year! I have traveled quite a bit and stayed in lots of five star hotels. Gangtey lodge is in a class of its own. They have a way of making you feel like family without overwhelming you. We stayed four nights and didn’t want to leave. Ania and the staff are amazing. We miss them all.

We were greeted at the front gate by the GM and her staff. The staff sang a welcome song as we entered. This was followed by complimentary hot spiced apple tea (made from local apples) and a shoulder massage as we took in the spectacular views down the Gangtey Valley. It only got better from there! Our room/suite was spacious and had an outstanding view. At night they put water bottles in our bed. The bottles were covered by woollen slips and remained warm for quite some time. A special selection of Halloween sweets also magically appeared while we were having a massage and hot rock treatment. We had the massage/hot rock bath before dinner. The massage was wonderful. The bath was a totally new experience for us. A wooden tub filled with springwater. The water is heated with particular rocks which are placed on a fire for a couple of hours and then added to the end of the tub. The water steams and bubbles as the rocks are carefully transferred from the fire pit to the tub. So relaxing! Dinner was a la carte. A selection of homemade breads arrived at the table. For the main we had the mushroom risotto and it was very good. Breakfast the next day also offered a selection and once again was beautifully presented and very tasty. We left with the impression that this is a very peaceful, happy, community minded establishment which is very conscious of their need to work with the local people and business and to preserve the beauty of the valley.

Dear AE1963, Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor! I am thrilled that you noticed our many little personal touches and enjoyed the warm welcome with which we great all our guests. Our aim is always to share with you our favourite experiences of Bhutan and our valley and to create little comforts that remind you of home. We are so happy that you loved our hot stone bath experience. Heated in the traditional way and built by a local carpenter who lives in the valley, it is a real highlight of any stay at Gangtey lodge, particularly in the colder months. I will pass on your kind comments to the kitchen team who enjoy creating little treats for celebrations from around the world! On behalf of GM Ania and the Gangtey Lodge Family, I wish you, your family and loved ones a happy festive season and a peaceful, healthy and Happy New Year, Tashi Delek! Beautiful lodge, wonderfully attentive staff and incredible views. Everyone in our party of 3 couples could not get over the individualized care, every detail is covered from the welcome song from the staff to the going away gifts and snacks upon leaving. It was an honor to stay at this wonderful lodge. We regretted that we didn’t book it for more days.

Gangtey Lodge is a luxurious place where your every need is catered for. All the staff are extremely well trained and their main wish is for you to enjoy your stay. The rooms are large, beautifully appointed and well maintained. The food is wonderful with a choice of local, or western food or, as we were there a third night, an Indian meal especially created for us. The spa is must to visit. This is a place that definitely needs to be on your list of places to stay.
