Gangtey is our third stop. We travel from Punakha to Gangtey, and 'are we there yet?' was the question in our mind the whole time of that journey. Even though the weather was just perfect with sunny and cool breeze, there are delays after delays because of the roadworks in progress. Everything is forgiven once you get to the lodge,... More

One word of caution - at least at the time we were there, the drive from Bumthang to Gangtey was absolutely tortuous... 10+ hours! Nowhere on the internet was there any forewarning of the terrible road conditions. It wasn't just a result of the timing of our visit (at the end of the monsoon season), resulting in frequent muddy patches... More

Well worth the effort getting here. The customary heartfelt and warm Aman welcome inside a large lounge with sweeping views over the valley floor where black-necked cranes make their home in the winter months. Do go on the easy circular walk past farmsteads, fields and the local school. The more demanding Langtey valley walk is also a delight, more so... More

Simply amazing views of the valley with a few farmhouses. Beautiful walk through the pine trees to enter and exit. Black neck cranes visible from the dining room. Staff was wonderful, as typical for all Amankoras. The potato shed dinner is a must. The staff really went above and beyond: welcome drinks, fire pit, traditional music, blankets, hot water bottles,... More

This hotel is excellent. If you go on a trip with Aman in Bhutan, the Amankora Gadgety is the best one. With its high elevation, it is really making you fell in the mountain and the inside of the hotel is very cozy. You can ask your guide for archery if you want, the target is very funny.

2nd stop of my Amankora journey. Stayed here for 2 nights and it was the best in the whole trip. Drive here was tough though with windy and rocky roads disrupted by multiple road blocks. Took 7 hrs to reach here from Amankora Thimphu. Loved the place totally once we reached it. The lodge has beautiful views of the Phobjika... More

Our second stop on our trip, the property over unique, pristine view of the field along with cows and farms. The foods were an improvement from Thimphu. Room exactly the same with Thimphu and they were nice. We make use of the traditional fire place and oh boy they were nice. Service was impeccable. Highly recommended.

After 7 hours of driving on horrendous roads (massive construction going on), we were tired and sore. The hotel was instantly uplifting experience. Well worth the trip! The views of the valley and the Dzhong are breathtaking and the whole place is very serene. The festival was cute but nothing like the one in Thimphu. The Dzhong also is not... More

Is there any stronger word than fantastic, stunning, breathtaking and brilliant? Can you imagine having a cup of morning coffee just in the pure mountain air and nothing around, but the mountain, its valley, the forest? It's right there, and it's an experience you will never forget.

Over two weeks, we went to all five Amankora properties in Bhutan and loved them all. They're all similar enough that I'm only going to do one review and I'm choosing Amankora Gangtey because this was, hands down, the best. What did I love about Amankora? The food at all the properties ranged from very good to exceptional, though it... More
