Spent one night here and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable. Evening meal in the outside garden was quite good and reasonable value for money. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere with lots of different areas to sit. However due to the high temperatures when we visited we were glad to be able to eat in the outside garden.... More

This was the preferred accommodation for a family wedding, but I was seriously disappointed with both the accommodation and the service in the restaurant. The rooms are a series of wooden "chalets" or large huts. There is one heater in each one, which although it warms the room quickly, you can't leave on, so if you're there when it's a... More

Haven't been here in a while so it was great to find it still so popular and the food consistently good and we could have chosen several of the delicious looking main courses. The rose veal with dauphinois potatoes, crunchy green beans and Diane sauce was exceptional. Such a welcome antidote to the disappointing processed meals you end up with... More

Food here is very overpriced for what you get. Came about 5 years ago and had the best risotto ever but on returning, and ordering the same dish I was very disappointed. It was very dry, lukewarm and tasteless. It didn't even look like a risotto, just undercooked rice and peas. My partner enjoyed her lamb but there wasn't very... More

Found this place on trip advisor and chanced my arm. Really glad I did. Sat in the bar, best book ahead. Mixed mains as wanted salad from one and meat from other. They were accommodating and the food was great. It was a lovely evening and used the garden. Beautiful countryside on the drive over as well.

We had a drink in the garden followed by a lovely meal in the restaurant. I asked for and received a table for four in a quiet corner away from the bar. The room was decorated with hops and farm tools, which was quaint. In all, good food and fast service at a reasonable price.

Our second visit to the Black Horse and just as good as the first. This place is so handy for ferries from Dover or Folkestone and for the Chunnel. As we live "oop north", we try to avoid travelling from south east England because of the dreaded M25 but our ferry from Portsmouth was cancelled at short notice due to... More

Stayed one night for a wedding, pleasant stay in themed rooms with good wifi. Breakfast was good but staff seemed overwhelmed with so many guests, pub was also nice. I stayed in the annex across the street which was very quiet and quaint. I would recommend a stay.

Stayed at the Black Horse for the second time to attend a Charity Ball 18th June 2016. What a great venue beautiful country side and great location. Rooms very well equipped. Food excellent at function catering for 80 plus people. Breakfast was great and service very good. We were also able to take our Westies Jasoer with as they allow... More
