Does the job! No other options but gives you what you need - food and a place to lay your head for a few hours! There is a shop that sells chocolate, crisps, bottled water, biscuits and other snacks. They also sell nice home made cup cakes! Dinner is served from 16.30 pm and is a buffet. Food plentiful but... More

After a hard days climbing, and with another days worth to come, Laban Rata Lodge is exactly what you need. A bed, a buffet and a shop. The views are incredible, and it's perfectly placed between the day climb and the path to the summit. Because of what it is it has the tendency to get quite crowded and quite... More

Your choices are pretty limited in terms of where you're staying on the mountain, but this is a damn good choice. Food isn't exactly going to be michellin starred but it was bloody good given the fact everything has to be carted up the mountain by hand. Dorm rooms are comfy and beds are a decent size, staff were also... More

This is a really good place, taking in concider they have to walk all the stuff up. I did Some more hiking, and for this alltitude they provide a really good service. The food is good. And enough choice. They can upgrade the restrooms and the table and seats. But yeh, what i got to say About that. This is... More

The accommodation and meals in Laban Rata are not cheap due to monopoly of SSL (Sutera Sanctuary Lodges). This is not 4*hotel but a hut so everything is basic! During my climb I stayed in 4 bed dorm room Surprisingly not only the accommodation but also the meals were good. The bed very comfortable for the rest before the final... More

Just came back yesterday. Contrary to some of the feedback from fellow reviewers, I was really surprised by how clean and organised Laban Rata now is. There has currently been a dry spell of 100 days resulting in low water pressure and supply which means scarce water for showering but nobody seemed to complain and everyone who wanted a wash... I've done Mt Kinabalu 2 times and absolutely loved it. The place is great for a break. The food is good, the bunk bed is decent, and it's pretty warm in the hut. I have to agree that they could have done better but comparing to other accommodation on mountains, I think it's excellent. You don't even get to shower... More

It is the only place to stay at Mt Kinabalu. Whether you like it or not, you got no better choice at there, lol~ Overall, it is still nice place to stay after 6km tiring climbing from foothills to here. It is just a rest house, hence I did not expect much from it. The dorm room is for 6... More

After a tiring hike, Sutera provided hot shower and a fulfilling dinner. Very comfortable warm beds. It's expensive but, after spending a night to recharge for the next day's summiting, I could not ask for more. Some of my friends just had with the hot shower problems and with the food not filled right away at the buffet table.

We stayed here one night in order to complete our two day climb up Mt Kinabalu. While it is a rest house and you shouldn't expect luxury it could have been better. There was no hot water for showers and the communal bathroom was filthy with hair everywhere. Also the food was pretty poor. In saying that I would do... More
