I finally got the experience to have a weekend there, after knowing for about 10 years for the first time and did make incursions to the city and surrounding for many opportunities but in none of them, stopping over the property. Living relatively close to Cássia dos Coqueiros and without knowing many of the natural attractions inside the private areas, I was aware that in Roccapporena there are some waterfalls and/or alike but none of them, that "famous" as the largest in the region, called, if not making mistake, Itambé, with its about 70 meters falls. So, by not having necessarily, great expectations, I did have a wish to know about the place, mainly by the pictures I´ve seen, most probably from Tripadvisor users themselves. And perhaps by the officials 'Rocca' sources through the web besides generally good advices from many people, none of them so close to me. And I did it for my 45o. birthday. Actually, my wife gave us as a kinda surprise gift. Before giving a general overview to the place and/or services I would like to point out that for the ones guided by Waze or alikes that if you choose to enter the pathways before entering the downtown, there are no signs for make you sure that you are doing right, which I guess will make a bit uncomfortable if you plan to reach the area by the sunset, already with the darkness taking places. That was the option Waze gave us, which is only nice if you like adventure. No need for a offroad vehicle but perhaps useful for raining days. We could be luck enough that I more or less had an idea of the landscape and the day was still clear enough and dry. So that´s easy, even without any sign of Rocca´s direction if not through the app. from the smart. And you can always stop by a neighborhood to ask. If you get someone along the way. It´s safe enough and probably you will scare the local more than otherwise. Once there, I could not have the time and occasion to ask the owner about this. But I can concede that they have some reasons (not wishing to call attention, I don´t know). Being on a Saturday afternoon for the start of the check in period, we have to wait a little bit. Nothing that upset us as a start. We could appreciate the initial view and all and it was just nice. The inside "lobby" was cozy. Too small though, if in rainy or windy or too cold day. The room for 3 was large enough, considering you are not expecting a large thing. I did not like the window which did not give privacy and that was good tough to maintain it open. We were with a child under 14. Bathroom was clear enough and with proper size. There was not any toilet item besides paper and towels. And some petals of true flowers inside the flush waters. There is an old tv without many channels. Just the open signals. And you can be self served by a catalog of dvds inside the lobby/living room´s shelf. Which was the option in this case. I can´t recall any kinda wardrobe mirror besides the toilet one. The meal´s room is small. It fits ok for the overnights guests but if increased by occasional visitor for just a meal "ticket" or "enjoy the day" pass, maybe can over crowded, considering that people can still use the "patio", one of the highlights of the building. But only if in a nice weather conditions. Food was good. Perhaps, the period for dinner could be half a hour longer for anti rush purposes. Wine was ok. Price was ok. All in all, a place to have a nice rest and a good go for a short trip or stop over during your ride. One of the managers or one of the proprietor herself gave us the sufficient attention and we had all we needed. The swimming pool looked good although not that appeal~able for a cold day. From a 5minutes walking with kid distance from there, there is a mini beach along the stream waters which surprisingly was bearable to jump in, considering that it was a "cold" weekend, even in an usually hot weather region. That day, it was very safe to walk over the rocks inside the waterbed and I did for at least hundred meters up the sandy point with no difficulty, checking that there was pools areas that invite the swimmers to refresh. Bear in mind that in a heavy rains period that condition might be different. And, always watch out your kids. A last consideration: please, don´t get me wrong about the overall “ok” grade. In our situation, for our purposes and motivations, the place fit us nicely. There were still many natural attractions that deserves my optical or digital lens but I skip for the next time. By the way, being in a normal Sunday (ok, it was a school´s out period but nothing that we could notice an overwhelming childrenmocracy), an aspect I get a bit upset is that the place receives an extra amount of day visitors and for that occasion, there was a kind of fashion thing going on, with a "model" and a photographer and all the paraphernalia. It´s ok that the scenarios there helped a lot the composition but for making the games salon as a dressing room just for this event, it was disrespectful to the guests that could not enjoy the pool table for instance, with all those clothes and make ups and fashionables all over.

Beautiful place. The Hostel is an old and preserved farmhouse, with near by waterfalls and river to cool off. Delicious home-cooked food. Attentive service and super friendly. I loved it and want to go back again.
