If you love to walk, enjoy delicious food and learn about the plants and animals that inhabit the Mathews Range from local Samburu guides, Kitich is the place for you. We enjoyed several fantastic hikes led by three Samburu guides who helped us identify many birds, local plants - and even several elephants feeding in the forest. The tents and...

Dear Nancy, It's good to hear that you enjoyed our lovely walks and mountain forest. Lesamana and Tausen are both indeed a real treasure to have as our guides, knowing the area so intimately. It was also lovely that the elephant graced us with their presence most evenings. We're delighted to hear that you found our simple tents comfortable, and...

It is an amazing experience driving through the harsh semi-desert of Samburu and arriving at Kitich in the heart of the lush, green Matthews Range. Kitich fits in perfectly; it is very low key, and hidden away on the edge of the Ngeng River. The camp is simple but comfortable. The food is excellent, the camp staff are attentive but...

Dear Caroline, It was such a pleasure to share those two lovely days with you and your family at Kitich. We are delighted that you appreciated the charming simplicity of the camp, peacefully nestled in this incredibly unique indigenous forest. We especially enjoyed the thought-provoking debates around the dining table and the camp fire! The Kitich team are keeping their...

A very beautiful location in the heart of the Matthews. Kitich is a very beautiful area. The camp has seen better days and needs some money spent on the place. The views from the tents are not stunning as the place is on the banks of the river. The manageress was too busy dealing with crisis and had not trained...

I am lucky enough to be travelling around Kenya on an Elewana Sky Safari and so have been able to visit some pretty magnificent places - so far this is, by a long way, my favourite. We landed on a high desert strip, it felt as though we were landing on the moon (had we not been surrounded by local...

Dear John, Many thanks for your great review of our lovely hidden camp tucked beneath the mountains...and the moon! As the blue skies continue to shimmer in the heat, the forest is beginning to drop clues that rain is near: the coucals are calling, siafu swarming and the acacia is magically suddenly in blossom... The elephant seem to sense it...

We had wanted to go to Kitich for a long time and finally managed to organize a trip there in September 2014. Like all the Cheli and Peacock lodges, a lot of attention is paid to details, which makes the place even more special. The rooms and mess area are tastefully decorated and comfortable, and the limited number of guests...

Thank you so much for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Kitich Camp. With all the environmental-friendly practices you have kindly mentioned, Kitich was able to move up to a Gold Eco Rating in November and is now one of only 17 camps in Kenya with this rating. The walks are so exciting at this...

Had a fantastic time at Kitich, the staff were great, the scenery amazing and the hosts Karl and Sally where brilliant. Very laid back and the perfect place to get away from reality and rejuvenate. Don't expect to see exceptional amounts of game but there is a super-heard of elephants as well as plenty of leopard sign, plus the usual...
