Not sure why this place hasn’t been scooped up by Aman, it’s certainly on brand for them. Beautiful property, very wild and hidden in a palm jungle. Super private and quiet. The ratio of land to people is very high so you feel like you’re alone there. Also there is a lot of staff to help as needed and they are all lovely. The experience is extremely different from say a Four Seasons. The communal pool is small and quaint. The food options are limited. In fact the main restaurant and bar were under construction when we went (wish they had told us) but nonetheless the experience is real Mexican luxury, not big American chain hotel. So be prepared for that. Also I had read reviews from folks saying they felt ripped off my food and drink costs and I think they really onboarded that feedback because everyone was very transparent with us and we felt the food and drinks were very fairly priced. If I was nitpicking I would say some of the details on the room finishes probably need a touch up. And, service is slow. But again, you’re in the jungle so it’s time to relax! Amazing trip overall. Really special place and a perfect one for a true getaway.…
Horrible experience, we went for a recommendation to the restaurant and it was not available. they took us to the beach and we only asked for a very bad and expensive drink $30 dollars ordinary and cheap mezcal they did not accept card
Look - there were some minor issues, but not enough to drop the star ratings. I'll get to those first: check your receipts against your expectations. Our travel agent got us a package with free breakfast and free dinner - but when the final receipt came - none of the dinners were free and the "free" breakfast was for their version of the continental breakfast, with fruits and a basket of bread. That was not detailed anywhere, and we ordered the regular breakfasts, and were charged for them. We also had an odd moment where my wife and I wanted to share something for dinner so we ordered one crab and one steak - they brought out two of each. We kept the extra crab because we felt bad but sent back one of the steaks - they didn't seem to be happy about that. Also, be careful if you ask for a taxi to go anywhere - they're going to order the full luxury SUV and it will cost a minimum of $50 to go a couple of miles. So we learned - we argued that the dinner should have been free - and they took it off the bill without complaint - and we started just booking our own taxis to and fro because we didn't need to be treated like a dignitary. Ok, those are the complaints - but you know what? Whatever. We're in a different country with a different culture and set of expectations - we can deal. But the praises are lush and infinite. I've never stayed in a nicer room (and I've stayed at 5 star places all over the globe), have never had a better view - the drinks were great and the meals were 4/5. Everyone was super, super friendly and helpful. I don't even know how the place exists - right on the beach, bordering a lush jungle (don't miss the nature hike!). It's like out of a dream. Even though we did see other guests, and the occupancy was full, it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. We only really saw other people on the beach at meal times - otherwise it was quiet, secluded, and unbelievably relaxing. Also pretty convenient for quick trips to Sayulita or Punta de Mita. I can understand why American celebrities come here - I'd be here all the time if we didn't have to put three kids through college. Also, I speak Spanish but everyone there spoke English really well - so my non-Spanish speaking spouse was comfortable the entire time. Compliments to Luis, Pedro, Rogelio, and Cristofer - who were all especially helpful.…
There’s a reason we return to stunning Imanta time and time again. Yes, we have stayed at the Four Seasons, St. Regis, and the lovely new One and Only. Yet, we decided to book again at Imanta and they did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, Brian welcomed us at reception and made sure our every need was met, including our first margarita! There are so few suites at Imanta that you feel as though you have the entire place to yourself. They have two wonderful restaurants, one at the beach for breakfast & lunch, and one up on the cliff for dinner. Eddy the chef is magnificent! All of his entrées were delicious, especially the grilled fresh fish on the beach. Gilberto served us every morning for breakfast and could not have been more delightful. The beach restaurant, managed by Jasmine, is the best table in the house so to speak. The food is fresh, delicious and the view of the ocean right at your feet, mesmerizing. If there is anything you need, Jasmine or one of her team members are there to assist you. The beach is pristine and totally private. Did we mention the margaritas? Oh yes, if you happen to enjoy wine and spirits like we do, their rooftop bar, managed by Louisito - is a true mixologist! He will make you anything, including martinis if you need a break from tequila. The entire team including Miguel, Sergio, Joycer, Elvy, and Jeremi, were exceptional! They made our fourth visit to Imanta absolutely flawless - the service, food, and overall experience was six stars! We brought another couple with us who were blown away by the magic of the place. Thank you Imanta - we see a fifth return very soon and cannot wait!…
Imanta is one of those resorts you must try at least once. This was our second visit. Only 11 suites and a very special Tree House, it is private and very secluded. We had a beachfront suite which was steps to the ocean. The suite itself is a bit too minimalistic. It needs a couple rugs and decor. The mini bar is not well stocked and there are no snacks available. Ice service is spotty. The resort can do much better with guest delight by offering a nice snack upon arrival. The beach is small but decent enough to walk. Excellent breakfast and lunch served on the beach, a highlight of Imanta. They have a small outdoor spa which offers excellent massages. The gym is a disappointment and management seems not to care as we mentioned this on our last trip. Forget about a Peloton bike, there is barely anything that is enjoyable to use. There are two old yoga mats. There is a swimming pool by the main restaurant. Main restaurant is open for dinner and very good. Menu however is very limited but the chef will customize if you ask. Very good service. Punta de Mita is about a 15 minute drive and our two fav restaurants are Casa Teresa and Tuna Blanca, both worth leaving the property for. Overall, with the new One&Only property that just opened, Imanta can easily up it's game and become five star with just a little investment in guest enjoyment.…
My husband and I stayed here for six nights. We were in the Jungle Deluxe room, also called Nasisa. It was just incredible. So private and relaxing. The private pool was massive and a lovely temperature. We had both and indoor & outdoor shower which was fun. I think we saw four other parties the whole time we where there. The private beach is heavenly. Lovely day beds and lounge chairs. The restaurant on the beach is really really good. We had something different every day and it was all excellent. Great drinks too! We saw whales three or four of the days we where there, released sea turtles (that the staff protected from jungle animals until they hatched) and loved watching the adorable coatimundi! The jungle views at sunset at the bar is stunning. We enjoyed massages in their outdoor spa. It was so nice to just listen to the waves and birds while having an excellent massage. We didn't leave the resort the entire time we were there. I wish we went on the hike but we were just so happy reading & resting we didn't bother. I read some reviews before we went and was made nervous by some but I have no idea what people were complaining about. Yes it's expensive but surely that's known going in. We really thought everything was very worth it. The only suggestion I would have is that I wish the dinner menu had one or two more options. Only because if you have any dietary restrictions you can get through the menu rather quickly. We would probably stay longer if the dinner menu had a couple more options. But everything we did have was delicious. It is true that the walkways around the property are a bit challenging so I wouldn't recommend this resort for anyone with mobility issues. But we looked at it as a welcome reminder to slow down and just chill. I'm sorry to say this but coming from the US I was happy I was able to have ice in my drinks and eat the salads without any stomach issues. And many of the staff spoke very good English which made communication really easy. It was also, as far as I could tell, extremely safe. The staff was so kind, thoughtful and super considerate. I really hope they're well paid because they are a huge asset to the resort. Yes, there are critters. You're on a beach in a jungle. If you're a fussy traveller this may not be the place for you. But if you want peace, quiet, seclusion, beauty, delicious food & drinks and really kind service I would highly recommend Imanta. Can't wait to go back!…
Hotel and service spectacular. Loved our oceanfront casa. Super quiet and secluded. Negative: need more variety in room service and the “included” breakfast was not made clear. They told us that for the included we needed to go to beach restaurant. Nobody told us everything was a la carte. Ended up very expensive for breakfast and when I complained that we should’ve been made aware or have clarity in menu they did nothing about it. That was the only disappointment really, but if you’re counting on your included breakfast ask before ordering! Nobody will offer this info to you.
There are only 11 rooms and they are all in the middle of the jungle right on the beach. The property is immaculate and the beach is one of the best beaches we have ever seen. The staff is amazing. They are very professional and excellent at what they do. We can't wait to go back. It is very pricey, but one of the best experiences we have ever had.
Imanta was recommended by our concierge. We traveled with a large group for what was to be dinner with a beautiful view. The hotel is located in a secluded area (and there are no views from dinner). Cars and keys had to be left with the staff and a golf cart ride was needed to get to the restaurant. Upon arrival we were shown to our table. Before we could sit, we were told to go up to the tower bar for tequila shots. Before even selecting a drink, they starting pouring shots and making "special drinks". I looked around for a drink menu - none were to be found. Once we consumed what we were to find out later were $80 - $90 drinks (yes, per drink), we were told that the drink tab would be transferred to our restaurant bill (so as to prevent us from seeing the outrageous charges for the drinks). Dinner was average at best. My husband ordered the Wagyu steak and left most of it (fat and gristle) on the plate. I don't eat meat, poultry or seafood and ordered a basic pasta with tomato sauce - it was so bad that no one at the table was interested in eating it. When the bill arrived, we realized that we had been scammed. They charged us over $1,000 (US dollars) for 13 drinks. We have always enjoyed traveling to Mexico - thanks to Imanta, I don't know that we'll be traveling to Mexico any time soon. If you want to feel taken advantage of, Imanta is the place to go.…
I don’t have enough words to describe the magic behind the walls of Imanta. I didn’t know what to expect when our travel agent suggested this. She warned me it’s a unique experience, and we opted to come here instead of the Four Seasons and St Regis… and I’m SO GLAD we did. From the moment we arrived, it was world class 5-star service. Every staff member we interacted with were so warm and accommodating. The concierge helped us everyday with anything we needed, including booking our transfers to the surrounding cities, making dinner reservations, etc. They are so thoughtful in every aspect of your stay, including cleaning your room EVERY time you leave without having to request it, having you select custom soaps throughout your room, even making sure your purse doesn’t touch the ground on the beach. They anticipate everything you need, and that’s what sets them apart. You never have to ask for anything, they know what you want before you do! The private beach is probably the most amazing aspect. It is pristine as they clean it every day (we watched them every morning during breakfast). They have very strict security, and ensure it is only the very few Imanta guests using the beach. Every pool is perfectly warm and just gives such a feeling of intimacy and privacy. The observatory bar was probably our favorite part of the hotel. Their bartender was so friendly and made AMAZING cocktails for us while we watched the sunset. We had dinner at the other luxury hotels mentioned, and honestly, none came CLOSE to the beauty of Imanta. My husband and I love to save up every year and treat ourselves to a new experience somewhere in the world. While we appreciate the beauty of every place, we always want to go somewhere new to us. However, Imanta will forever be the exception to our rule. We wish we could personally thank every single staff who helped us. This was unforgettable thanks to all of you!!! MUST STAY!!!!! ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE.…
