We are frequent visitors to riverside and felt the need to recognize some outstanding staff members. Melissa from housekeeping, Mary from the hotel desk, and Kip from the restaurant staff always go above and beyond. They have always gone out of the way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We hope they are well compensated by their employer. They should all be at the top of the payscale and more.
She's screwed our room reservations before, or almost did. This last time was the final straw. We were told by the front desk and another VIP host that our type of room was not available. This was after we already had checked in and had everything in our room. We were also told that with it being a home Hawkeye's game there wouldn't be and not for two nights, that they were full up.....so we loaded everything back into our vehicle, I explained at the front desk what was going on, handed them the room card keys and headed home. She told me on the phone at the Casino that it was her fault. That she was the one that made the reservation. I guess I give her a little credit for that, for whatever that's worth. Then after miles down the road I get a text message saying there is a room available. That was BS. Not playing the games. Well, if I can help on a future trip....NOPE, no plans to try again. As I said this was not the first time. Gave her more than enough chances and the benefit of the doubt. This is not rocket science folks. She is obviously capable to handle this type of position. She's costing them income. That's hours on end of play they didn't get.....their loss. What even adds insult to injury I made these reservations more than month in advance as she told me that was the first available date for the type of room that we wanted. Waiting a length of time only to be very disappointed. I can tell them one thing, their competition rarely ever has this type of problem, almost NEVER. We'll stay where people can get things straight.…
My husband and I got marries at Riverside a few weeks ago. We visited the venue and immediately knew it was going to be our venue based on how beautiful it was and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Our ceremony was on the pool deck and the reception was in the ball room. The good: -Hotel rooms for out of town guests - nice rooms, most guests get early check in, hotel block with discounted rate. -Everything in the same place - no travel decreased cost for us, we didn't have to worry about people drinking & driving, and there was on site food and fun (casino, pool) for guests -Venue Personnel - The ladies we worked with, Kelly and Shaundria were AWESOME! They made the planning process so smooth, and did so much extra stuff for us (such as printing bar menus and creating name cards). -The look of the venue - the ceremony and reception spaces were beautiful and Riverside had tons of décor we could use. -We also got a bridal suite for free the night of the wedding, the venue drove us away on a golf cart for our grand exit, and they communicated well with our other venues. The bad: -We were supposed to have ranch and pesto boats on the tables for dinner, which were missed. -We had our cocktail hour in the hall outside the ball room, and the ballroom doors were opened before they were supposed to. We found out it was a safety issue, and the staff quickly acclimated and hors doeurves were still passed. -We had made our tables assignments based on a chart provided by the venue, and some of the tables were mixed up. Thankfully it was some one the back and not family tables. -Our wedding planner had to fight a bit with the bar staff to get the bars moved into the reception area, which was discussed prior. Overall, we definitely recommend Riverside as a wedding venue. We understand that things happen and there will always be something. We are very happy and loved working with this venue!…
The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom large, 3 section with large walk in shower, vanity and mirror, and water closet. The casino is large with good selection of slots. The slots were a little tight. The seafood buffet on Friday night was pricey ($70. for the two of us), but was very good. The crab legs were well prepared with a large selection of other foods that were all well prepared and well presented.
Casino staff very unfriendly. I felt they were superficial and racist. White folks were treated with smiles and friendly gesture and coloured .. people were treated as just regular customers. After playing high stages at BJ table for over three hours I requested a dinner comp and from a distance was signaled" cannot be done" by the casino Host. White folks who played less than me were given all the comps and talked to from closeness.
They seated 20 people and a 16 top in front of my family of 6 saying they had nothing for my family and we waited 30 min to be sat down and then got disrespected by terry. This happrns every time we come i am a paying customer just like everyone else.
After a four-hour one way drive, I checked in on Sunday for what I thought was going to be a two night stay as part of a free hotel offer. I checked out less than an hour later, though, because I had to run a zoom meeting the next day and the hotel’s wifi network was so weak that I couldn’t even download my schedule. To make matters worse, the hotel is in a cellular dead zone — LTE service only, so you can’t even use your phone as a 3 G hotspot. When I asked at the desk if I could rent a portable hotspot, they acknowledged the shabby wifi situation but told me they had nothing to offer and suggested I go to the public library. In this day and age, strong, reliable wifi service is a basic utility and minimum expectation for any hotel — like electricity or plumbing. You wouldn’t tell a guest “we don’t have toilets but you can find one at the public library” and I would NEVER book at a hotel that didn’t have wifi. Since their wifi was really to weak to actually be of use, I left the hotel and booked an alternative in Iowa City. Thanks for nothing Riverside, I won’t be back! …
My husband and I stayed here with another couple. We got a mini executive suite and our friends got a standard room. The only difference was our room had a couch. What a joke. We paid almost double of what they paid. The cleanliness of the room was also terrible. Dont think they cleaning staff knows how to properly clean. They also have some lumpy pillows. Elevators also take forever. Lines to get to our room on a daily basis. Slots are great.. Recommend sitting at the riverview bar. Overall casino was great. Otherwise stay somewhere else.
I stayed at this hotel with a group of girlfriends to celebrate “Galentine’s Day”. The wide range of amenities inside this hotel make for a fun winter getaway when you want to stay indoors. There are multiple restaurants open. We enjoyed spending time in the Draft Day restaurant/bar with its beautiful water wall. We brought card games into the restaurant and had a ball visiting and drinking craft beer in the pretty setting. There was also a fun looking golf simulator in this area. We also spent some time in the spacious pool area. The hot tub was open but appears to need some maintenance work as it was not very hot. The hotel rooms were well maintained and very clean. The beds were comfortable. Bottled water was provided which is a nice extra. Unfortunately this hotel is not well insulated and the hallway noise kept me up all night long. This was on a weeknight and we didn’t go to bed until Midnight. I can’t imagine getting any rest on a weekend or if you needed to go to sleep earlier in the evening. …
I stayed at this casino every week for months due to the fact my father who was 80 years old and dying of cancer went to the VA Hospital every week for treatment. while I was there with my father security approached me and asked me if I found a cell phone I had no Idea what they were talking about and thats what I told them , they asked some personal info and said thanks and left. Shortly after I got a phone call from a police officer wanting to talk to me about this cell phone I told him the same as the casino security that I knew nothing about it , but he wanted to see me so I gave him the spot in the casino where I was gambling . He found me a few minutes later and asked me about a cell phone again and got the same response as he got when we talked on the phone I knew nothing ,but that wasnt good enough he told me I was on camera and security seen me take this cell phone.I asked to view the cameras with him but for legal reasons nether one of us could look at the camera,so to help make this situation go away I told him he could search me , so In the middle of this casino this officer in full uniform is now searching me . I never had the cell phone but then he said I handed it off to whoever I was with yes thats right my 80 year old father who is dying from cancer is now a thief. Now that im getting really pissed off he left to go talk to security again and yet again hes back telling me how yes im on camera and I need to give the phone back and put this matter to rest. when I told him the same story again he said he would get a search warrant for the video and then come and arrest me at my home ,so I encouraged him to do so and come get me but I was done with this matter there was nothing more I could do . The officer left and my father and I went to our room only to get a phone call hours later from the officer to thank me for cooperating with him and that the cell phone was found in the parking lot the phone never made it into the casino the lady dropped it when she was getting out of her car ,I asked the officer how could I be on camera if the phone was in the parking lot , he blamed the casino security considering he couldnt see the video himself and was only going by what they told him . So I contacted hotel security director Megan Lynch to find out how this could happen I could go into detail how it went but to save you the bullsh*t story she didnt want to do anything to find out who was lying to the police that works for her and how this could happen or how to prevent this from happening again. Is this the kind of casino you want to spend your money at ? It's not mine go anywhere else .…
