The McNeill Stone Mansion is terrific! Gorgeous private rooms and public rooms as well. Virginia has provided lots of snacks and beverages and areas to hang out whenever you want. The bed in the Royal Red Room was very comfortable, multiple types of pillows are provided so you can pick the one that best suits your needs, and the bathroom is very well appointed. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Virginia is a lovely host - present if you want her to be, and absent if you don't, which is something some other B&B's haven't figured out. :) The Stone Mansion is in a convenient location and much more comfortable than the hotels in the area. We can't wait to have a reason to stay there again!

This is a real gem on the plains of the Midwest. A beautiful historic house in a lovely neighbourhood, very friendly and attentive hosts, a very comfortable room and a yummy breakfast. I felt well pampered and would stay in this excellent and affordable B&B again any time.

The beautiful quiet setting, the homey elegance, the collection of antiquities and furnishings, the amenities but what made our stay here was the hospitality and historical knowledge that Virginia and Gary gave us. Thank you for sharing your home and stories with us!

My second stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast. Not only is it beautiful inside and out, but the hosts are the best! Gary and Virginia have thought of everything and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. I have stayed in the Royal Red Room and the Far East Room. Both are exceptional and have the most comfortable beds ever, as I am sure the other rooms do also. The rooms are very quiet and have great views from the windows. I enjoyed the back covered porch where you could sit for coffee or a perhaps a glass of wine. I plan on booking a room here every time I am in the area overnight and look forward to my next stay!

This B & B is fabulous. As you walk around the property, you will begin to realize all the hard work and attention to detail that has been put into restoring this gem. I recommend that anyone traveling to Oskaloosa must stay here. The mansion is beautiful and relaxing. The penthouse is spacious with a large bed and bathroom. The breakfast of quiche, poached pears, bacon, and cinnamon buns was creative and delicious. Ginny and Gary are wonderful host who go above and beyond to make sure your stay is a positive experience. I've in other B&B's and this is by far the best one yet. We will be back again.

This B&B is one of the best I have stayed at in the US. The hosts are lovely. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are many antiques and tastefully decorated. I loved how they had the history of the house for you to read.

Very comfortable king bed in the 1908 McNeil Stone Mansion. Gary & Virginia did a wonderful "labor of love" to restore this mansion to it's original design including flooring and furniture (with all of the luxuries of modern plumbing and heating). Virginia set a lovely buffet with snacks throughout the day, beverages and fresh cookies and - get this - a real breakfast with quiche, bacon, juices, coffee and fresh fruit. A bed and breakfast doesn't get any better than this.

So thankful that we saw this as an option for a recent event we were attending in Oskaloosa. The property is spectacular; the owners have lovingly remodeled and restored this mansion, providing a comfortable place to stay. The hosts are friendly, interesting, accommodating, and did every thing to make our stay enjoyable. Plus they have lots of wonderful stories about their travels and their work in preparing this home. The food was outstanding, too. One of the best B & Bs we have visited.

I was looking for a place to stay in the Pella/Oskaloosa/Ottumwa area where I frequently work that felt less like another motel and more like home. I found it. McNeill Stone Mansion has been beautifully restored and appointed and is very welcoming. Not at all stuffy, but nicely cozy and inviting with fine architecture and furnishings that reflect the craftmanship of a time past. The Mansion has the modern amenities that enable me to work into the evening when the need arises and is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood that invites a nice walk. Gary and Virginia Walker are friendly and very hospitable and will ensure your stay is a good experience. An Iowa jewel!
