So thankful that we saw this as an option for a recent event we were attending in Oskaloosa. The property is spectacular; the owners have lovingly remodeled and restored this mansion, providing a comfortable place to stay. The hosts are friendly, interesting, accommodating, and did every thing to make our stay enjoyable. Plus they have lots of wonderful stories about...

I was looking for a place to stay in the Pella/Oskaloosa/Ottumwa area where I frequently work that felt less like another motel and more like home. I found it. McNeill Stone Mansion has been beautifully restored and appointed and is very welcoming. Not at all stuffy, but nicely cozy and inviting with fine architecture and furnishings that reflect the craftmanship...

This is an absolutely great mansion. Service is incredible and a beautiful location. The rooms are great and interesting, just like I would expect from a nice little bed and breakfast. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

You could not go wrong with this place. It has an intriguing history and unusual concrete and wood construction that the hostess Virginia explains with detail and enthusiasm. The grounds are beautiful, just like a park. We stayed in the room with the four-poster bed and really enjoyed it -- very luxurious (McNeill Suite). Two days flew by too quickly...

The McNeill Stone Mansion has so much to offer. We stayed in the McNeill Suite, and it had everything from a working fireplace that can be used year round, a double Jacuzzi tub, a comfortable queen size bed, and a lovely sitting area. The entire home was tastefully decorated, but very warm and welcoming. There were beverages and snacks available...

Gary and Virginia are wonderful hosts. They made us feel welcome and the room and food were wonderful. We enjoyed talking with them about the 7 year renovation project of the mansion. Must see to appreciate all of their hard work.

We live in the same town this fine establishment is in. We feel like we know the host and hostess personally. When we stay there we feel as though we are out of town and there is no need to leave town! You would not believe how nice this place is....the rooms are nice and clean and authentic. They have...

The architecture is stunning, the atmosphere is very laid back. Gary is great to converse with! The breakfasts are always over the top! I suggest the penthouse suite you'll never want to leave! The neighborhood its located in is very quiet and good for taking a walk to go to lunch or just see the sights.

This was our third visit, and each time we are blown away by the exquisite décor, the perfect restoration, and the comfortable warm feeling of being here. Gary and Virginia are the perfect hosts, genuinely welcoming without being cloyingly intrusive. The food is delicious, and the service makes you feel like a visiting Royal. Don't pass the opportunity of staying...

“we had the smallest room, but found it to be spacious and more than adequate for our needs; much larger than hotel rooms!”

“great bike trail around the city -- paved and wide and winding through fields and woods.”

“The McNeill Suite was our favorite. Gary and Virginia graciously showed us around the entire house, and we think we had the most beautiful and comfortable suite of them all. Besides the luxurious double Jacuzzi, it also had a separate area with a walk-in shower. The electric fireplace added a lot of charm to the room. Everything in the house was spotlessly clean and we felt right at home.”

“All rooms are equally as good. You'll be comfortable with all of them. The stair cases are wide and easy to climb to the 2nd floor.”
