My wife and I decided to have our wedding reception at the Merrill and it was fantastic! Lisa from the Merrill was our wedding coordinator and she was great to work with! Due to the pandemic we had to move our date and jumble rooms along with other details. Lisa was so helpful all the way through the process! The Merrill facility is top knotch! Everything from the food to the service and accommodations was class act. We had the Chairman's Suite, which was spacious and well furnished with great views. Justin was the event coordinator. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, even when it was very unique to our event. He met with us several times to make sure things straightened out! We highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a wedding venue, reception venue, or even a weekend getaway! Thank you for the great experience and memories! And special thanks to Lisa and Justin for a your effort!

I have become a regular here. One feels at home the minute they walk in. I was nervous at first due to COVID-19, but hand sanitizers were everywhere and masks by the main entrance. The spectacular location will give guests the opportunity to view the river and trails. Thank you and miss you everyone!!

I had spoken to a man over the phone about prices (I think his name was Brad or Brett, something like that). I am familiar with pricing and immediately knew I was being overcharged. He was high balling every price and was quite rude about it when I was skeptical of these outrageous prices. I really wanted to stay here because it is a beautiful hotel and I have worked spoken with some other event staff who are friendly and very professional. It is very apparent that staff relationships and customer service are not a priority of his. Great environment and amazing food, but do not think I will be back.

First, if you are at all concerned about Covid-19 stay in a Hilton or Marriott. That being said this particular Marriott takes "clean and sanitary" to a whole new level. It far outdistanced any Hilton we have stayed in and we are Diamond with Hilton so we have stayed in quite a few. Hand sanitizers everywhere. They were in the elevators, outside the elevators, in the lobby...literally everywhere. Second, I will have to acknowledge Mr. Belfield the General Manager as he has assembled quite the team of workers. First impressions are everything and we got a great one from the person checking us in at the front desk. It didn't stop there...help with luggage, in room dining, housekeeping. If you are reading this my suggestion is that you don't forget to tip the housekeeping staff as they work hard and do a terrific job. We were here for three days on a short get away and plan to return in the future. We will stay at the Merrill Hotel. As I said it was "perfect".

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor with a river view. The river view is well worth it.

Only because I couldn’t give them 0 stars....Nice hotel but horrible customer service from management. A coworker and I chose this hotel while on an essential assignment in Iowa. We thought we found a gem until my coworker’s card was repeatedly charged totally close to, if not over, $3000(even after the reservation was equally paid for in full at check in). For inconvenience, there was a refund issued for 4 days at the rate of $69/night. Upon check out, the front desk clerk told me how much the refund would be and gave me a receipt which reflected that same amount. You would think since the reservation was paid for equally between the two of us (on two separate credit cards) that it would be only right to issue the refund that way. Nope, the general manager as well as the finance lady (I believe her name was Les) told me because my card was not inconvenienced (overcharged repeatedly) then I was not due a refund. I could see if there was a refund issued for my coworker’s portion of the $69/night rate. That would be completely understandable... but she was refunded money she did not even pay. I have worked in finance for a government agency for over 15 years, and the checks and balances part of this situation just does not add up! The finance lady told me I need to get my refund from my coworker and she also coached the GM to say the same (as I heard her telling him what to say while speaking to me). I told them both that my dealings was not with my coworker but the hotel because they are the ones I paid. The GM, began to raise his voice and straight up told my I was not getting any money and if he paid her too much money then that’s his fault, but I was not getting a refund. Professional for a GM huh? This is sad because it’s a beautiful hotel, with an amazing view.... but someone in the management chain of command is definitely taking this company downhill. Never in my life have I heard a GM speak to a customer the way he did. This hotel basically handed money that was due to me, to another customer, and told me to go get my money from them.... please make this make sense to me!!!
