Detailed Reviews
The rooms are old and not renovated. But good. Insist on room on first or second floor only. Nice swimming pool. Food choice is very limited. No grocery shop nearby. Very limited BF options. For vegetarian people, NO NO. If you do not have your own car, do not stay here. Its only for relaxation. If you want to sight see, then its not good location. Hotel staff has very limited English understanding. But all people are Good and helping.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 week and loved every minute of it. Though it is not close to all the tourist sights the hotel offers free transport into town twice a day or go anytime for $10.00. The resort seems as it is not popular with westerners so its a great place to stay away from crowds. The food at the restuarnt was very affordable and very good. The pool is gigantic and many other activities like ping pong and tennis are free of charge. I would stey here again if I ever find myself back in Chiang Mai

I recently stayed at the Imperial and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of this resort. The hotel itself is as stated in previous reviews, a little abandoned and the main area where you can find people are within the sports facilities. That didn't bother us though the setting was beautiful and a great place to escape too after a busy day doing the attractions of Chiang Mai and the surrounding areas. We hired a car so we were able to get out and about easily, I am not sure how someone would get on if they had to rely on taxis etc. The hotel has so much to offer but it either needs to increase its popularity someway or improve on its advertising. The rooms were lovely and cleaned everyday, we had no safe in our room but they were available behind reception if required.
The main issue I have is the lack of understanding by the staff. We had paid for breakfast at the hotel and on the first day there was an adequate buffet laid out. The next day there was only tea and coffee, but the waiter on duty offered us omelettes so that was fine, but after that everything went downhill. The next time we tried to get breakfast there was nothing laid out not even coffee and when I asked the waiter who was there, he didn't know what I was on about and then said I would have to pay, even though I had already paid. After that, we tried again on other occasions to get breakfast and we were either ignored or told nothing available, therefore we gave up the idea of breakfast as it was too much hassle trying. So if you do book this resort, don't bother with breakfast, its a waste of money.

The property is completely different to how it's shown on website. The ground floor rooms has no facility for disabled shower. The property we were offered were in a terrible condition - floors were slippery and unsafe, we had to keep my mother in her wheelchair because it was not safe for her to walk inside the property. The place is infested with mosquitoes, so cannot enjoy outdoor or even open the window. The outdoor is not cleaned so the tables is unusable. One of the room upstairs toilet door is broken.
The place is remote that no taxi's will come. The resort charged us extortionate money to use their van. Simply a nightmare experience

We stayed here three years ago and the hotel was great overall. Since that time they have not kept up the maintance of the pool and general up keep of the buildings. The location is very far away for the city center and although the hotel does provide a free shuttle once a day to go into town it does not leave much to do at the hotel because we felt the pool too unsafe to use on a daily basis due to broken tiles in the pool. The staff is very helpful and friendly but they can not do much if the general condition of the grounds are poor. I will not stay here again with my family unless they fix the pool.

+1
The place was filthy, in the middle of nowhere, approached down a dirt track through a shanty town and in poor state of repair everywhere, crawling with lizards, cockroaches and mosquitoes. The air conditioner in my room had a screw through the control to stop it being turned down below 21degrees. Beware, the hotel's website is misleading. Avoid at all costs. I lasted 30 mins in this place before bailing out.

We were only there two nights, but that was enough. The first night, we took their shuttle into Chiang Mai and that was nice, as you are not very close to much of anything. The walls in the rooms are thin and there must have been families with little kids all around us. They were up early, running all over the rooms, jumping around and screaming. We also had to endure them when we went down to the breakfast buffet. Our bathroom floor flooded whenever we took showers, the toliet was continually dripping onto the floor and the bathroom faucets leaked onto the countertop. There was no vent/fan in the bathroom, so it got quite steamy when showering. There were also no towel bars, so you had to hang things on pegs that were quite high, and in awkward places. The room cleaner didn't mop up the floor which was flooded, just threw another bath mat on the floor, not even laying it out as if it was to be used. The buffet was average; not much to choose from. They have a huge pool area, which looked quite nice. The lobby is very nice looking and the grounds looked nice driving through.

In geneal staying in the Imperial hotel in Chiang Mai was a very good decision we made. It was located not in the heart of the center but just 5 minute walk from there. A very high quality of service and a good value for the money we spent, compared to other fine hotels where the prices are 2 or even 3 times higher.

Your probably couldn't get a better location - the price is so good - the breakfast was great - the pool is really nice. friendly staff - no complaints.
You are so central to everything. The hotel is big spacious, the rooms are great.
The price is amazing. How do they make any profit.

We were happy to arrive at the Imperial after staying at a disappointing hotel in the same district. The hotel grounds are spectacular. A perfect setting for a wedding or somewhere to relax after a busy day. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The fitness equipment was somewhat limited but sufficient to get a decent workout. The buffet was good but not overly impressive. Within walking distance to the night market. Would definitely consider staying here again.
