Being a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural designs it was wonderful to be able to stay in a hotel he designed. The suite I had on the third floor was wonderful. It consisted of a sitting room, bedroom and bath. The furnishings were true Wright designs. A cosy sitting room with sofa, chairs, a desk and a large screen... More

Very convenient in the downtown, easy to find without a map. Across the street, you will find a Veteran's Memorial, WW's and Separate Civil War Memorial, Interesting Art and Sculptures, Gardens (in season), and just a 1/2 block away, a courtyard area with more charming statues, buildings, shops and places to eat and drink. Of course, the Inn is over... More

Pros: Beautiful Property Friendly staff Rooms full of nice details Located downtown, convenient to many local attraction This is the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright hotel remaining in existence Only downside given that this property was built 100 years ago, it is no surprise that the rooms don't provide much sound protection. I strongly suggest that if you are bothered... More

I stayed here with two friends in early August. We each had our own room on the back side of the hotel to save a little money. There was no view but the rooms were all gorgeous - spacious, beautiful furniture and furnishings, and very clean. The bathroom didn't have a tub but it had a wonderful shower. Everything about... Historic Park Inn is the only surviving hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright - thanks to the people of Mason City IA who had the vision, passion, perseverance, and fundraising talent to bring it from near collapse to the stunning property that it is today. The historic renovation was completed a few years ago - and done with reverence for... More

Traveled to Mason City to imbibe in some local brews. I decided to stay in The Historic Park Inn. Not because it was a Frank L. Wright building but because it was located within walking distance to the Mason City Brewery. Another reason for staying there is the high cost of rooms in this part of Iowa. When a local... More

This hotel has been amazingly restored! I visited Mason City back in the late 90's to work on an architectural project for the Rock Crest Rock Glenn area, and I can attest to the sad state of the hotel at that time. When I learned of it's restoration, I knew I had to revisit and stay here (Mason City worked... More

We appreciate you taking the time to notice all the detail that was put into decorating and restoring. It's great to hear you were able to check out the Stockman House and the prairie style homes. We spent two nights in one of the two large top floor rooms at the Historic Park Inn Hotel. The decor and style of the room are great, and matched by the comfort of the bed, the bedding and the furnishings. The public areas of the hotel are beautiful, and the hotel restaurant is excellent.

After a delicious breakfast at the 1910 Grille, we took a guided tour of the motel and adjoining bank. Our guide, Chip, was extraordinarily knowledgeable and personable. He thoroughly discussed the renovation of the property and the buildings' features, and also provided interesting facts about the architect. Afterwards we traveled a few blocks and toured the Stockman House. It was... More

This hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is one of a kind. There was a convention in town so we were only able to reserve a room for one night, but what a room it was! The room was stunning; in the fact the whole hotel is visually delightful. If you love great architecture, stained glass windows, beautiful woodwork, than... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
